127: Chapter 0127 The Inspectorate
Felin's flying message reply left Li Size feeling sweet and a bit nostalgic, wishing he could discuss sorcery and Mechanical Alchemy face-to-face with that girl.
Perhaps in the future, when he's too busy, he could even entrust the design blueprints for the sorcery machine tool to her!
He stroked the witchcraft rune mat on the table, fingertips sensing the faint fluctuations of Demonic Energy, scratched his head, and began imagining the scene of the two of them researching side by side—it must be fascinating.
Li Size didn't know that next door, Instructor Felina was sitting at her witchcraft rune desk, writing a flying message reply to her sister, Violet.
Twirling a feather pen engraved with miniature runes between her fingers, she wrote about her relationship with Li Size and the stories they'd shared—everything except the secrets of the Internal Affairs Department.
She suggested her sister learn Mechanical Alchemy from Li Size, which would not only provide guidance from a Genius for rapid growth but also help her and her brother-in-law in the future.
She even attached a sketch of Li Size's recent small sorcery machine tool creation as a recommendation token.
Looking at the ever-glowing rune lamp in the Laboratory, Felina felt both proud and a pang of heartache.
Li Size had been working on the sorcery machine tool late into the night recently. This thing required profound accumulated knowledge in Mechanical Alchemy, Rune Arrays, and Demonic Energy conduction.
An ordinary Wizard Apprentice wouldn't dare assemble parts, let alone craft one, for fear of making mistakes.
She rubbed her temples and suddenly thought:
Perhaps her sister Violet could come to help and learn some real skills in the process.
Li Size had made up his mind: the trade object for this new model of witchcraft motorcycle would be the 'Visual Enhancement' Alchemy Rune.
This rune could amplify the driver's dynamic imaging and night vision capabilities, and it could also link with the witchcraft sensor core for more precise control.
Sitting before the witchcraft parchment, he tapped the rune mat on the desk and wrote a flying message reply to Felin through the night.
In the letter, he also mentioned he would give his all, striving to complete the research and development of an automated production line for witchcraft firearms within two years.
He specifically noted:
Thanks to Felin's letter mentioning the inspiration from the 'Visual Enhancement' rune, the theoretical range of the over-the-horizon witchcraft firearm was expected to Breakthrough ten kilometers.
The wording maintained the restraint of a technical exchange, but it couldn't hide his recognition of Felin.
He wrote, 'Looking forward to advancing the research together in the future,' and ended with a dynamic alchemy diagram drawn in rune ink:
An older brother patting his younger sister's head, the sister's eyes crinkling into crescent moons as she smiled.
Li Size scratched his head, imagining Felin's eyes lighting up as she read the letter, and couldn't help but smile.
Coincidentally, on the same night, Felina also finished writing her flying message reply to Li Size.
Both pushed open their doors at the same time, exchanged a smile, and Felina tugged at Li Size's sleeve. Withtacit agreement, they headed together toward the academy's communication tower.
In the dimness of the communication room at night, only the messaging terminal emitted a faint glow.
Standing side by side, they sent their letters, as if completing a ritual.
Back at the apartment, the warm yellow light of the rune lamp illuminated the two sitting embraced.
Felina, wearing a semi-transparent beige chiffon loungewear, leaned against Li Size's shoulder and nuzzled gently. The delicate chiffon fabric clung softly to her curvaceous figure.
Her delicate collarbone and fair shoulder and neck skin were exposed. Her loosely tied-up long hair cascaded down her back, the ends with a faint wave. Her amber eyes were soft as if soaked in honey.
Her full lips were slightly pursed. Her waist was slender yet curvaceous, and her hips outlined a tempting silhouette beneath the chiffon.
She spoke softly about trivial matters from the research room. Li Size stroked the ends of her hair, responding gently.
The halo of the warm yellow rune lamp enveloped them. Li Size's fingertips trailed lightly down the shoulder line of Felina's chiffon loungewear.
His fingertips brushed against the slightly trembling skin at her collarbone. As her hair brushed against his jaw, it carried the warm scent of witchcraft incense. Their breathing gradually grew rapid.
Felina's arms encircled his neck, her nails unconsciously tracing his back. Their body heat mingled through the thin chiffon.
All the calculations in his heart were scattered by the fragrance in her hair, leaving only the tingling sensation of her warm breath against his neck.
She tilted her head back slightly, her lips grazing his Adam's apple. Li Size tightened his arms, holding her closer against him.
The curves beneath the chiffon pressed against his chest, each breath carrying anAmbiguous ups and downs.
Felina's fingertips slipped into his hair, giving a gentle tug. His kiss landed on the corner of her forehead, sliding down her brow bone to her cheek.
Her eyes were half-closed, lashes fluttering like rune grass in the wind. The warmth of her palm against his heart made it tremble.
The light and shadow of the warm lamp cast blurred patches on their intertwined figures. The scent of witchcraft incense in the air grew denser.
Their gazes tangled, wordless, yet they could feel the resonance of each other's heartbeats. It was as if the whole world had shrunk to this warmth within the yellow halo, invitingDaydreaming.
Yet beneath the calm, undercurrents flowed.
Early the next morning, Li Size received a transmission from Sven at the secure communication point of the Gray Mist Mountain police station.
'Hey, Genius top scorer, life's been pretty sweet lately, huh?'
Sven's familiar teasing voice came through the messaging terminal, accompanied by a slight crackle of rune interference.
'Cuddling with Instructor Felina on one side, acting out a lovers' play with Deputy Director Goliath on the other...
Such talent wasted not being an actor! Heard you put on quite a show at some Deputy Department Head's house in the provincial capital?'
The schadenfreude in his tone was almost palpable through the flying message.
The corner of Li Size's mouth twitched involuntarily. He retorted, both amused and helpless:
'Director, does the head of the Internal Affairs Department also meddle in citizens' love lives?'
As he spoke, he touched the tip of his nose, remembering the 'intimate scene' at Gelia's house. His ears turned slightly red, a bit guilty.
Sven's laughter suddenly stopped, his tone turning serious:
'Alright, enough joking.
Serious business: remember the previous witchcraft eavesdropping Rune Array test?
Since the 'Counter-Espionage' plan is top secret, most people in the department aren't aware. The official story now is that the technology and data are suspected to have been stolen.'
He paused, lowering his voice:
'The Internal Affairs Department branch in Monte Province suspects there's a mole.
You were at the test site in Gray Mist Mountain Town and have been listed as the primary person of interest.
What's more troublesome is that the one in charge of the investigation is Marcus, sent by the branch's Inspection Department.
He and your old 'friend' Gill grew up together. He'll most likely use this as an excuse to cause you trouble.'
Li Size's brows furrowed tightly. He clenched his fist, the rune ring within emitting a faint light:
'Gill? Why is he everywhere!'
He took a deep breath, suppressing his irritation:
'So what should I do, Chief? If they investigate in detail, won't the Counter-Espionage plan be in danger?'
'An investigation is inevitable; otherwise, the Feiting Lurkers won't believe we lost something.'
Sven's voice came through the messaging terminal, steady.
'Don't panic. You have backing. If he gives you a hard time, stall, play dumb, don't confront him directly.
I'll send you a departmental-level confidential flying message authorization certificate later. If he pushes too far, show it to him and tell him to come to me.'
Li Size couldn't help but laugh:
Even the serious Chief Sven had learned to joke. Becoming a Director really made a difference.
So he deliberately drew out his words, teasing:
'Got it! When the time comes, I'll just tell the truth—it was all taught by Director Sven.'
Sven chuckled on the other end, his voice dropping even lower as the messaging terminal's runes flickered:
'One more trick for you.
If Marcus keepsEntanglement, you can casually remind him:
During the test, Viscount Weisman's people were also active around Gray Mist Mountain Town. They have more resources, don't get along with the Internal Affairs Department. Stirring the muddy waters is a good way to slip away.'
Li Size's eyes lit up, a glint of rune light flashing in his pupils. He couldn't help but thump his thigh with his fist, the rune bracelet on his wrist emitting a soft chime:
'Brilliant!
Weismanreally did that. We have solid witchcraft recorded evidence in hand.
Don't worry, I know how to 'mention it in passing' now.'
The messaging terminal's runes flickered once more as Sven's voice came through:
'Hmm,Maintain a sense of proportion, keep it natural. I have to go now. Stay in touch.'
