35: Chapter 0035 Lie Detector

Li Size informed Gelia of the deduced outcome should the Internal Affairs Department take action.

Gelia immediately felt deeply conflicted; she was stuck between a rock and a hard place. What on earth was she supposed to do?

Seeing that even Li Size was frowning deeply and had no solution, she sighed.

"Sigh, forget it."

"There's no other way. At worst, I'll just stop being this Deputy Director."

"I'll have my old man take me back to the provincial capital. Don't worry about me."

Li Size and Felina were speechless upon hearing this. It seemed Gelia had a background after all; no wonder she could snatch the Deputy Director position from Wilson, who was under Viscount Weisman.

Gelia stuck out her tongue and said apologetically:

"It's not that I intentionally hid it from you, but I really didn't want people to know about my old man."

"After all, I am me, and my dad is my dad."

Gelia then explained that her father was actually the Deputy Director of the Monte Province Public Security Department, but few people outside knew about it.

This background was indeed solid.

However, Viscount Weisman was a landed lord, so it would likely be difficult for her father to directly interfere in this matter.

But ensuring Gelia wasn't bullied and having her transferred back to the Provincial Department afterward would certainly be no problem.

They had originally worried that Gelia might actually be convicted and sentenced if the charges stuck, but now it seemed that wouldn't happen.

Because according to procedure, the final decision required approval from the Provincial Department, so it was impossible for Gelia to be sentenced.

But if Gelia were forced to bear a bad reputation and lose her position as Deputy Director because of it...

Not only would the justice-filled Gelia definitely feel terrible, but Li Size also felt somewhat guilty, so he still had to find a way.

Li Size thought for a moment, and combining the matters of Bobby and Rice, an idea formed. He planned to fabricate a seemingly reasonable story, but the difficulty lay in dealing with potential Polygraph Sorcery.

"Gelia, you should say this:"

"You received an anonymous report that someone and Wilson were going to kill me."

"When you arrived, they were just about to kill me."

"You accidentally shot and killed him."

"As a result, his companion escaped."

"You are currently investigating the matter."

Li Size planned for his own statement to go like this:

Li Size saw Wilson meeting with a strange man.

The strange man ordered Li Size to be killed.

Li Size was taken to Wilson's house, and just as he was about to be killed, the police arrived and Wilson was shot dead.

That strange man also escaped.

Under Polygraph Sorcery, such a 'truthful' description would yield a result of truth.

Because there were no lies involved, only the chronological order of facts was slightly reversed.

For example, Li Size was actually taken to Wilson's house first before he saw Rice and Wilson meeting.

But Polygraph Sorcery cannot detect that the chronological order of these two sentences is reversed.

Furthermore, such a statement misleads others into believing there is a karmic relationship between these words.

For instance, outsiders would think Li Size was ordered to be killed because he saw Wilson with the strange man.

But in reality, there was no Karma between the two events.

And Polygraph Sorcery does not possess the ability to judge karmic relationships; it can only detect that these are all true.

While this would leave the investigators with more questions—

Such as who reported it or who the middle-aged man was—none of that would have anything to do with Gelia anymore.

Answers like "I don't know," "I can't remember," or "My head hurts so much" would all work, or even appropriate silence.

Li Size's goal wasn't to cooperate with the investigation, but to clear Gelia's name.

Hearing this, Gelia looked at Li Size gratefully.

"But that involves you too. If things go wrong, you might be in great danger."

Li Size smiled and said:

"If it really doesn't work, we'll just have your dad bail both of us out."

"But I think the feasibility is very high. Since the other party isn't clear on the whole event, we can string together some originally unrelated facts to construct a seemingly reasonable story."

"Besides, you have a background. As long as the investigation is passable, they won't dare to act recklessly."

"We'll coordinate then. If they try to press with excessive questions, you just interrupt them."

After hearing Li Size's detailed explanation again, Gelia and Felina were left with nothing but deep admiration for him.

How was this boy's brain even wired? Gelia joked:

"Kid, you're so familiar with evading Polygraph Sorcery. Did you used to lie like this often?"

Li Size raised an eyebrow and responded:

"Hmph! Now you know how powerful I am. Why haven't you bowed down and called yourself my subject yet!"

Gelia immediately reverted to her violent big-sister persona and smacked Li Size on the head.

"Bowed down?"

"I'm warning you, kid, don't you dare try those smooth moves on me!"

Felina, who had just been worried but now felt greatly relieved after Li Size solved the issue in an instant, giggled as she watched the two of them bicker.

Li Size rubbed his slightly aching head and reminded them:

"There's one more detail to watch out for:"

"Both your police station and the Internal Affairs Department have the Corpse Questioning Art. You need to worry about them using it directly on Wilson's corpse."

The reason Li Size remembered the Corpse Questioning Art was because this Zero-Ring Sorcery was in the Internal Affairs Department's merit points exchange manual.

It could temporarily awaken a recently deceased, intact corpse. Within 30 minutes, one could ask the corpse five questions, and the corpse would answer truthfully based on its own knowledge.

This sorcery was very unique and had wide applications. The exchange cost at the Internal Affairs Department was 40 points.

Moreover, the notes indicated it was hard to exchange for this special sorcery anywhere except the police station and the Internal Affairs Department. Li Size planned to exchange for it once he had more merit points.

This should be an essential sorcery for intelligence personnel.

Sometimes, the words of the dead are more useful than those of the living!

Gelia grew nervous upon hearing this.

"That's true!"

"Hmm, I remember now. It seems that once a corpse has been subjected to Necromancy Sorcery, the Corpse Questioning Art cannot be used on it again."

"Should I arrange for someone to go to the warehouse now, get a Necromancy Sorcery item, and use it on Wilson's body?"

Li Size thought about it and shook his head in negation.

"That leaves too many traces and makes it easy for others to catch us."

"This time, Felina needs to step up. Later, you take us near where Wilson's body is kept, and Felina can command Bobby to possess it for a moment."

Gelia patted her chest to calm her heart, which had been on a roller coaster of nerves, and once again expressed her sincere gratitude.

"Li Size, it's truly lucky to have met you!"

"Your wisdom is simply incomparable. You solved such a troublesome matter just by thinking about it."

"Oh, if we can get through this smoothly, I will definitely repay you well. Tell me, what do you want?"

Li Size stared at Gelia.

She was wearing a red tight-fitting uniform that outlined her exquisite curves. Her waist was as slender as a willow, and her chest was full and firm.

Her legs beneath the skirt were long and straight, her golden curly hair fell over her shoulders, her red lips were like fire, and her eyes held a hint of allure as they flickered.

He swallowed hard...

Felina, hearing Gelia's words and seeing Li Size's reaction, grew secretly wary. She used her hand to sneakily pinch Li Size's arm and whispered in his ear:

"You promised me, half a year!"

Oh, that damn half a year!

Li Size forced himself to turn his head away, swallowed again, and laughed generously.

"Gelia, as long as you don't mind that being with me brings so much trouble, it's fine."

"Besides, we're allies!"

"Right! We're allies!"

Gelia had also noticed Li Size's reaction. Usually, she wouldn't have thought anything of it, but at this moment, her cheeks felt slightly hot.

She immediately responded to cover up her loss of composure.
