81: Chapter 0081 Parents

This ear-piercing sound irritated Li Size’s ears slightly, and he boredly picked at his ear with his pinky, blew lightly into the opening, and teased, “Student Jill, haven’t you eaten? You’re so weak. Should I attack now?”

“Ah!” Jill, whose attack had been ineffective for a long time, looked at Li Size, who was mocking him, and completely lost control. As a close-combat Wizard, he still had a killing move: a secret Knight technique infused with Wizardry principles.

Jill roared, his Mental Energy replacing the Knight’s strength to stimulate several joints in his body. Immense power erupted from a certain part of his body, and a powerful aura swept through the entire room.

“Great Knight!” Li Size didn't know what this powerful aura was, but the surprise from the knowledgeable Gelia beside him solved the mystery:

So Jill had powered up!

This power directly boosted him temporarily to over 10 points. The side effects would probably be significant...

Jill’s sudden burst startled the others, and his speed suddenly reached a superhuman level. Since the two were already engaged in close combat, Payne and Christine couldn't stop him in time. They were just about to step in to save Li Size and prevent him from being seriously injured...

“Bang!”

With Payne’s discerning eye, this burst of power was already vaguely breaking Level 10, approaching the level of a First Ring; yet Li Size remained calm and composed beside him.

He seemed completely fine...

Seeing Li Size’s calm demeanor, Old Payne liked him more and more. Since he was younger than Gelia, his daughter wouldn't be bullied. This son-in-law was confirmed!

The sudden burst just now also startled Li Size. Although he didn't believe this kid in front of him could erupt with the power of a First Ring; his black magic iron armor was too stable. He thanked Pativ, thanked Felin, and thanked Wilst...

“Cough, cough! Jill, you must be tired. Should it be my turn?” Li Size slowly took out his “winds kiss.” Recently, he had a vague idea of upgrading this item of his, but he never had the time.

“Cough, cough! You iron shell, you probably can’t even break it. Consider this match won, let’s end it here!” Christine timely stepped forward to stop the duel from continuing. If it went on, the situation would only become more awkward, and Payne would have trouble explaining to his old classmate.

However, even Christine, a Formal Wizard, admitted she couldn't breach the armor. Although she might have been exaggerating, Li Size’s armor was clearly very tough!

“Auntie, I...” Li Size wasn't happy about this. He had only let someone test his armor, and he hadn't even gotten a few shots in to practice.

“Hmm? Still calling me Auntie?” Christine looked at her prospective son-in-law with increasing fondness and teased him with narrowed eyes.

“Ah...!” Christine’s move left Li Size stunned. He secretly glanced at Gelia, saw she was also secretly looking at him, and immediately lowered her head when she noticed him glancing over.

That charming, coy demeanor made Li Size’s heart flutter. Looking at Christine, he called out, “Mother-in-law, I...”

Li Size was still too shy to say the word “Mom.” Christine didn't know the real situation between Gelia and Li Size, so she glared at him with slight dissatisfaction and interrupted, “Listen to Mom, this farce ends now. Jill, since you lost, admit your defeat.”

Jill’s secret technique burst had passed, and the side effects began to take hold. He glared fiercely at Li Size, unwilling to back down so easily. He still believed Li Size only relied on that iron shell, but he failed to consider that a Wizard specializing in alchemy relied entirely on the various magical artifacts they crafted.

He wanted to leave a few harsh words to regain some face in front of Gelia, but his body told him: if he stayed any longer, he would make a fool of himself.

With an ugly expression, he turned and hastily bid farewell to Payne and Christine. As he walked out the training room door, he said, “Li Size, I will mail the formula for the Zero Ring Mental Energy recovery potion that I lost to you to Gelia before the new academic year begins. She will pass it on to you!”

“Ah! You don’t have it on you? Oh dear, what a loss!” Li Size had thought he would immediately get his hands on that treasure, but it turned out to be a near miss.

Gelia’s family found Li Size’s expression amusing...

After the outsider left, Gelia’s family was harmonious. Li Size gave Gelia the two swift spirits he had refined. He had thought things through; he felt he had good feelings for Gelia, and if they could be together, he should strive for it.

Besides, Felina had already indicated last night that she accepted him, so the six-month agreement was naturally voided...

Christine held her favored son-in-law, asking him question after question. Especially regarding the Provincial Unified Exam reported in the newspaper. When they heard the Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Education and the Vice Dean of the Examination Institute, Mody, say they would revoke his qualification for next year's advancement exam, they were all enraged.

Payne slammed the table, “These bastards from the Department of Education are truly acting lawlessly! I’ll report them to Count Bart!”

Christine countered, “You fool! Our son-in-law said this matter likely has Count Bart’s shadow behind it. Are you still going to report them to Count Bart? I think this is true. Bart’s third son is truly clever; his score this time was just a tiny bit worse than yours. Moreover, Deputy Director Bamachi and Mody have already been punished. Talking about this is useless now.”

Saying that, Christine looked at Li Size as if he were a monster: “Heavens! How did you score a perfect hundred! I was considered a top student back in my day, but a perfect hundred—that’s truly unimaginable!”

Li Size could only smile sheepishly, “I just studied a little harder.”

Christine and Gelia both rolled their eyes at him. Christine then reminded him, “Mody is imprisoned, and Bamachi was fired. I worry they might still cause trouble for you later, so you must be careful! But your dad and I definitely won't let outsiders bully you!”

This... this... calling them “Dad” and “Mom” is getting so natural. Is this really okay?

Li Size secretly glanced at Gelia, seeing her happily giggling, completely devoid of the imposing air of the Gray Mist Mountain Bureau Chief. However, Christine’s words reminded Li Size, especially since Bamachi, whose scheme he had ruined, must be plotting some revenge against him!

Now that Payne and Christine were willing to openly protect him, the other party might be hesitant. They wouldn't dare use overt tricks, but they might very well stab him in the back.

Christine kept Li Size engaged in conversation, chatting and asking things from morning until afternoon. Li Size gave Gelia several meaningful looks, wanting to leave. After all, Felina was still waiting alone in the hotel. He couldn't forget the old flame just because he had a new one, especially since this 'new one' wasn't truly his yet.

Payne and Christine warmly insisted Li Size stay for dinner. The old couple originally thought of him as their son-in-law and wanted him to stay the night. Whether sharing a bed or separate beds with Gelia, they declared themselves very open-minded parents and didn't mind; they even suggested Li Size arrange to meet his father, Pativ, soon so both families could meet and arrange the wedding as quickly as possible.
