43: Chapter 0043 Terror Beast

A distance of 20 kilometers, given the bicycles in this world and Gelia's physical condition, should have taken at least over an hour.

This was the reason for her urgency; she worried that by the time she arrived, the Magic Monsters would have already rushed into the town, causing destruction and casualties.

As it turned out, less than fifteen minutes had passed since she met Li Size.

Ahead, they could already see the shapes of five Magic Monsters and two Patrol Officers following them from a distance.

Li Size slammed on the brakes, stopping thirty meters away from the monsters. Due to inertia, the surging waves in front of Gelia pressed tightly against Li Size's back, causing a slight dull pain.

She didn't know if this was normal for the motorcycle, or if Li Size was deliberately taking advantage of her. She felt like getting angry but was uncertain.

She could only jump off the motorcycle with a cold expression.

Gelia sized up the Magic Monsters for a moment, let out a breath of relief, and introduced them to Li Size expressionlessly:

"It's fortunate these are just ordinary low-level Terror Beasts, no mutated variants.

Their strength is roughly between a low-level Wizard Apprentice and a mid-level Apprentice. Knights with slightly stronger abilities can also contend with them."

Li Size had analyzed the relevant books in the library regarding the common Magic Monsters of this world, and the information read as follows:

The Terror Beast is rumored to be a canine variant, possessing a trace of extremely faint Dragon Clan Bloodline, similar to the Kobolds in terms of Bloodline.

However, one is a Magic Monster, and the other is a low-intelligence creature. It is unknown if there is any special relationship between the two groups.

In terms of Bloodline, such a probability does exist.

The Terror Beast—this canine-shaped Magic Monster warped by Chaos Power...

Its entire body was covered in short, dark brown fur, sticky like corpse oil. Every inch of its skin was taut, revealing bulging, bluish-purple blood vessels.

The seven-foot-long deformed body pressed down three hundred and fifty pounds of rotten flesh, and its bones made a creaking, strange noise beneath the skin, as if they might burst through the thin layer at any moment.

The most heart-pounding feature was the single eye split open across its forehead:

Its pupil resembled a pool of solidified blood, and the whites of its eyes were covered in web-like dark patterns. The saliva that oozed out when it moved would corrode small pits emitting white smoke when it dropped onto the ground.

This was its only weakness, yet it also looked like an Evil Eye embedded in its skull, constantly radiating man-devouring malice.

Its claws were like poisoned bone spurs, curved and flashing with a cold light.

From the nodular lumps protruding on its spine, traces of sulfur-smelling acid occasionally seeped out.

When it arched its body, the residual Dragon Clan aura seeping from the depths of its Bloodline, mixed with putrefaction, made the air thick, as if even light was about to be devoured by it.

Its jumping ability was extremely strong, and it preferred close-quarters combat using claw attacks, tearing enemies apart to devour them raw. However, it would sometimes cunningly spit acid from a distance to attack.

This Magic Monster was considerably stronger than the previous Skeleton, but Li Size was no longer the same as before.

In a flash of light and electricity, the few of them quickly agreed on a strategy:

The two Patrol Officers would handle one Terror Beast each, Gelia would handle one, the Skeleton Warriors summoned by Felina would tie down one, and Felina herself would deal with one.

The extra one would have to be resisted by Li Size, and only after Felina, a mid-level Wizard, and Gelia defeated their respective monsters could they provide support to others.

Li Size jumped off the motorcycle and said:

"When the time comes, we should first blow out their eyes; it will be safer."

"That sounds difficult, doesn't it?"

Gelia shook her head, and a dark gold Wizardry light emerged from her fingertips, branding a Resistance Enhancement Rune onto each of the five people.

The Rune sank into the skin with a bone-chilling coldness. Casting five consecutive Wizardry spells consumed a bit of her Mental Energy, causing faint purple fatigue lines to appear near her eyes.

However, the Terror Beasts had already sniffed the scent of living people. Their single eyes shot out scarlet savage light, and they roared as they charged over.

Gelia said no more. Her two-handed greatsword trailed sparks as she rushed forward like a burning blood-colored whirlwind.

This was the first time Li Size had seen Gelia fight at full strength:

Her fiery red uniform billowed in the strong wind, revealing the tight lines of her waist and abdomen.

As she swung the two-handed greatsword with one hand, the blade was enveloped in light red Battle Qi.

Every slash splashed the Terror Beast's dark green, viscous blood, possessing a violent yet fatally beautiful aesthetic, like an out-of-control flame beast.

One Terror Beast was staggered by the Sword Qi from Gelia's strike, and its single eye briefly went unfocused and paused.

A faint gleam of an Alchemy Rune flashed in Li Size's eyes. He decisively pulled the trigger of the silver lightning—the gun barrel burst with light blue Demonic Energy sparks, aiming for that horizontal single eye.

In the past few days, Li Size had learned how to make ordinary Demonic Energy gunpowder from books, which allowed him to prepare some sorcery bullets for himself.

"Bang!"

The first shot grazed the single eye and struck the scales on the Terror Beast's forehead. The scales cracked open, oozing dark green acid that hissed and corroded the dead grass on the ground.

Li Size frowned. Precision targeting was indeed discounted when the target was moving, but the impact force made the Terror Beast let out a painful roar, and its movements slowed by half a second.

That half-second was enough!

The targeting line in Li Size's eyes locked on again, and the barrel of the silver lightning glowed with faint purple magic patterns.

This was a small amount of Demonic Energy he had covertly gathered by using his Mental Energy to draw in energy particles from the air, which could temporarily enhance the bullet's penetration.

He had not yet learned the miraculous offensive Wizardry spells, so he could not forge witchcraft firearms.

He could only instinctively use his Mental Energy to enhance his own attacks, which was a manifestation of consuming a great deal of Mental Energy.

In the hands of a true Wizard Apprentice, every wisp of Mental Energy, released through familiar Wizardry, possessed a hundred or a thousand times the power!

"Bang!" The bullet accurately pierced the single eye!

The Terror Beast's eyeball instantly exploded, spraying out dark green fluid mixed with black blood threads.

It let out a non-human, mournful shriek and wildly flailed its sharp claws, even knocking over two companions beside it, causing them to momentarily become chaotic and halt.

"Bang!"

"Bang!"

Li Size's silver lightning continuously spat out tongues of Demonic Energy fire, and two more bullets shattered the single eyes of the other two Terror Beasts.

Having lost their sight, the Terror Beasts went completely berserk and began tearing each other apart.

Dark green blood and shredded flesh flew everywhere, and the air was filled with the foul stench of acid rot and blood. The roars of the three mad beasts sounded like the lamentations of Hell.

"Good marksmanship!" Gelia couldn't help but praise.

She hadn't thought Li Size's tactic of shooting the eyeballs would succeed; she never expected the situation to turn out like this in the blink of an eye.

Li Size was slightly smug: "I've been practicing shooting hard recently, and I've luckily achieved some results."

Gelia raised an eyebrow and glanced at the silver lightning in his hand:

"Hey! Li Size, I remember you don't have a gun license, right?

Where did you get this gun? Confess! Illegal possession of a firearm is punishable by detention!"

Li Size forced a wry smile upon hearing this, thinking he needed to quickly obtain the status of an official member of the Internal Affairs Department, otherwise, this illegal gun possession could truly become troublesome.

For now, he could only reply vaguely: "Big Sister, at a time like this, why are you concerned about that?

If you all control them slightly to make the Terror Beasts pause, I can hit their eyes."

Gelia changed her strategy upon hearing this. She performed a leaping slash on one Terror Beast, and the immense impact force from descending from the sky indeed caused the beast to pause momentarily.

"Bang!"

The familiar gunshot rang out, and another Terror Beast's eyeball was shattered, causing it to start attacking wildly in confusion.

On the other side, Felina commanded the Skeleton Warriors to form a bone wall to restrain a Terror Beast.

Dark Wizardry threads wound around her fingertips as she manipulated the faintly glowing green 'Wizards Hand':

It was a translucent giant hand condensed from shadow energy, coiling around the Terror Beast's limbs like a venomous snake, rendering it immobile.

This shadow energy carried a bone-chilling coldness. Li Size had once tried being restrained by it and felt as if his very Soul was about to freeze, leaving him completely at Felina's mercy.

"Bang!"

Following the familiar gunshot, all five Terror Beasts were now blind.

Having lost their sense of direction, they attacked wildly everywhere. The two Patrol Officers and the two women stood quietly not far away, looking at each other.

The subsequent battle had no suspense. In a short while, the five Terror Beasts were killed by the group. Gelia asked:

"The Magic Monster's flesh, skin, blood, and organ tissues all have a certain value; they are important raw Materials for various Wizardry props and potions.

For example, the Terror Beast's blood seems to be one of the auxiliary Materials for low-level Strength Potions.

After tallying the spoils of war, should we give them to you in kind or convert it to gold coins?"

Li Size curiously examined the corpses of the Terror Beasts. This was the first time he had observed a Magic Monster up close. The previous Skeleton didn't even qualify as a Knight-rank, so it certainly couldn't be considered a Magic Monster.

He thought for a moment and said with slight interest: "Could you give me two corpses? I want to study anatomy recently.

If their value exceeds our share of the spoils, I will make up the difference in gold coins. How about that?"

Gelia's introduction to the value of the Magic Monster corpses made him realize how lacking his Wizardry knowledge was. Anatomy, at least, was a skill every Wizard had to learn.

Otherwise, after killing a Magic Monster, they wouldn't even know how to acquire the raw Materials.

He was completely a novice in the field of Wizardry and still needed to study hard and Pay-to-Win diligently.

Li Size had helped Gelia and the police station a lot recently, so Gelia had initially intended to let it go.

But on second thought, these spoils of war were the main source of income for the ordinary Patrol Officers, aside from their meager salaries.

The distribution of spoils was one of the most important and fundamental principles for unity within the police department, just like in the Internal Affairs Department.

Regardless of whether the amount was large or small, she should not break this rule.
