27: Chapter 0027 The Necromancer
"Do not try to be a hero. You are not yet a Wizard Apprentice. The attacks from necromantic creatures carry the aura of the undead, which will continuously erode living beings until they die.
It’s a good thing these necromantic creatures are of a relatively low Rank; none have been found exceeding the Knight Rank. If you get hit, immediately use 'purification water' to wash the wound and neutralize the necromantic energy."
The standard for Knight Rank is having one attribute—Strength, Physique, or Agility—reach 3.0 or above. Since these necromantic creatures haven't reached Knight Rank, it means their attribute values are basically between 2.0 and 3.0.
Gelia frowned. Felina’s concern seemed overly unusual. She looked at the two of them suspiciously, somewhat uncertain about the relationship between them.
She carefully looked at Li Size and secretly thought, Could this kid have won over Felina?
The iron gate of the abandoned mining area was close at hand. Gelia's golden revolver flashed with fire from her left hand...
With a 'bang,' the rusty old lock hanging on the door shattered. The residual force of the bullet pushed the right door panel inward.
"Kaka..."
The sound of bone joints turning rustled, and five necromantic skeletons nearby turned their heads toward the gate.
Pale blue Soul Fire glowed in the eye sockets of their skulls as they charged toward the group, brandishing rusty hoes.
Gelia first recited an incantation, casting 'Resistance Enhancement' on both herself and Li Size.
Honestly, with this sorcery, these skeletons below Knight Rank would have great difficulty breaking through their defenses.
Then, her golden revolver continuously spat fire, drawing away one skeleton, while her right hand's short sword slashed toward another.
Li Size then roughly understood that Gelia specialized in close combat-oriented sorcerers.
Li Size found it strange: Felina, who taught Knight combat skills, was a sorcerer specializing in the Necromancy System, while the Deputy Director of the police station was a violent maniac.
Felina, on the other hand, summoned a Skeleton Warrior from the alternate dimension to engage one skeleton, while she herself released the Zero-Ring Sorcery 'Fire Arrow' with both hands to attack another.
Although she specialized in Necromancy Sorcery, the best choice against necromantic creatures was still positive energy sorcery.
Li Size held Gelia's silver lightning, temporarily borrowed from the police station, in his left hand, constantly shooting at the skeletons' heads.
Unfortunately, his Marksmanship was still at the introductory level. A 70% accuracy rate made hitting the Soul Fire in the eye sockets undoubtedly a pipe dream.
However, the Pay-to-Win talent continuously fed back 'Marksmanship Proficiency +1,' '+2,' preventing him from giving up practicing shooting. In his right hand, he held his knight sword to block the skeletons' attacks.
After blocking about 10 strikes, Li Size activated the Knight secret technique, 'Counter Strike,' which he had analyzed and obtained a few days prior.
A massive force transmitted from his leg into the knight sword. The sudden power struck the skeleton's skull, shattering it into pieces on the spot.
At this time, Gelia and Felina had also defeated the other few skeletons. However, the one fought by the Skeleton Warrior was not shattered to kill it; instead, the Skeleton Warrior held it tightly.
Seeing the confused looks from Li Size and Gelia, she explained:
"Corpses and skeletons generated in the material world are the best source of troops for us Necromancy System sorcerers.
It only takes a very small amount of magic power to contract them once, and they require no further management for life. It's just that they aren't as convenient to carry around compared to commander-level monsters summoned from other worlds."
She pointed to the necromantic monsters vaguely wandering not far away and said:
"There are quite a few necromantic creatures here. On one hand, killing them one by one is time-consuming and laborious; it's better to capture them like this and have me contract them.
This saves time and effort, and the speed will only increase. On the other hand, killing them off like this is truly a waste. Later, when factories and warehouses are established here, these necromantic creatures can serve as defense forces; after all, I am the security consultant for the factory."
Li Size and Gelia exchanged a look, both looking at Felina with envy, feeling an urge to learn Necromancy Sorcery. Felina continued:
"Furthermore, the necromantic energy particles here are unusually active. Later, we will deploy some Sorcery Arrays here. These necromantic creatures, enveloped within the array, have a chance to be promoted to Knight Rank over time."
This meant they would all become Knight Rank factory security guards in the future. Li Size was greatly excited upon hearing this:
"This Necromancy System is completely unfair! If you need to fight, can't you just send Necromancy System sorcerers? They don't even know fatigue."
Felina shook her head and patiently explained to the two:
"Not exactly.
Both the Duchy and the Feiting Federation have quite strict restrictions on Necromancy System sorcerers; obtaining necromantic troops isn't that easy. We just happened to discover such a place.
Additionally, although contracting necromantic creatures from the material world consumes very little magic power and Mental Energy, there is still a limit. How could it possibly be endless, ignoring Rank, which would be terrifying.
Most importantly, necromantic creatures can only accept a small amount of negative energy sorcery buffs. Improving their strength is also exceptionally difficult, whereas humans and other creatures can receive assistance from large amounts of auxiliary sorcery and medicine to increase their strength."
Li Size greatly benefited from learning this valuable sorcerer knowledge, and Gelia also gained a deeper understanding of Necromancy Sorcery, so they agreed to proceed according to Felina's plan.
The Skeleton Warrior tightly restrained the necromantic skeleton...
Felina then recited the incantation for the sorcery 'Command Skeleton,' drawing the necromantic energy particles from the Void Realm and a trace of her own Mental Energy to form a peculiar energy beam, transmitting it from the skeleton's eye socket into its Soul Fire.
A moment later, the skeleton gave up resisting and became Felina's necromantic servant.
Next was capturing the undead. The first one or two contracts were relatively slow. After Felina accumulated over a dozen skeletons, they just needed to see a skeleton before swarming forward, pinning it to the ground, and then Felina would step up to cast the contract.
Later, the group didn't even need to move. Felina's dozens of skeletons spread out, bringing back one skeleton after another. This combat style left Li Size and Gelia dumbfounded.
Unfortunately, the Analysis from Pay-to-Win couldn't analyze these sorceries just by seeing them once, unlike analyzing Knight secret techniques.
These sorceries involved the combination of runes and the corresponding prerequisite school knowledge, which must be possessed before they could be learned. It was impossible to analyze them just by seeing them once.
Therefore, a teaching scroll containing the relevant knowledge was necessary as a foundation before the Pay-to-Win Analysis could be used to quickly turn it into a skill.
Time reached about nine in the evening. All the necromantic creatures on the periphery of the mining area had been enslaved by Felina, totaling two hundred and eighteen necromantic skeletons.
This was a powerful force. If they were all promoted to Knight Rank, they could even level a small town.
Now, only one abandoned mine shaft remained. The two women consulted Li Size on whether to finish it in one go or rest for a day.
Li Size thought for a moment and decided that since they had come, they might as well finish it all at once.
The deep, dark cave entrance at the foot of Gray Mist Mountain looked like a monstrous beast opening its pitch-black maw, waiting to devour people...
