159: Chapter 0159 Invisibility Technique
Lilith frowned:
"A Silence Sorcery item, we can't hear any sound from inside anymore."
Flora tried to probe with her Mental Energy, but was blocked by an invisible barrier:
"Mental Energy can't penetrate either. This bell is not simple."
Li Size leaned back in his chair, his fingers tapping on the table:
"Don't rush, let me think of a way."
One minute passed...
Five minutes passed...
There was still no movement in the private room. Lilith bit her lip, looking anxious:
"What should we do? They never stay long. If we miss this chance, we'll have to find another way."
Flora also felt uneasy, unconsciously spinning the wine glass in her hand:
"Master, shall we force our way in?"
Li Size shook his head:
"No, that will alert the enemy. I have an idea—Flora, go to the front desk and order a 'Twilight Rosemary' cocktail for Private Room 3. Pretend you got the room number wrong."
Flora's eyes lit up:
"Great idea! That way we can slip in and take a look."
Flora stood up and walked toward the front desk. Her light purple skin and silver-purple long hair attracted quite a few glances.
The bartender was a bearded man who paused when he saw her:
"Beautiful Young Miss, what can I get for you?"
Flora smiled:
"Send two 'Twilight Rosemary' cocktails to Private Room 3, quickly."
The bartender nodded:
"Yes, coming right up."
A moment later, the bartender walked toward Private Room 3 carrying two purple cocktails, pushed the door open, and stepped inside:
"Gentlemen, here are your cocktails."
Graham looked at the bartender entering the room, warily inspecting the tray and glasses in his hands, and scanned him deeply:
"We didn't order any drinks."
Just then, Flora, who had already cast the Lesser Invisibility Spell, quietly followed close behind the bartender and slipped into the room, hiding in the shadows of a corner.
With the boost from her Night Elf Bloodline talent, all her abilities in the darkness were greatly enhanced,
raising the effect of this Zero-Ring Sorcery, which she had mastered, to above First Ring level.
Graham was merely an Intermediate Wizard Apprentice; otherwise, he wouldn't be working as a butler in a noble Family.
He had absolutely no ability to detect Flora's silent infiltration.
Graham and the masked man stared vigilantly at the bartender, and the masked man's hand moved toward the dagger at his waist.
If the bartender showed any abnormality, they were certain to take his life immediately.
Perhaps sensing the danger, the bartender's hand holding the drinks began to tremble. He spoke nervously:
"But a beautiful girl just came to the front desk and ordered two drinks, saying it was for Room 3."
He craned his neck to look inside, and indeed there was no girl, which left him momentarily unsure what to do.
"I'm sorry, perhaps I remembered the room incorrectly."
Lilith suddenly appeared at the door of Private Room 2, a look of apologetic smile on her face:
"These drinks are for me and my friend. I accidentally gave the wrong room number just now."
She took the cocktails from the bartender's hand, turned, and returned to Private Room 2.
Graham narrowed his eyes, leaned out to check the hallway, and confirmed there was nothing unusual.
After the masked man closed the door, he checked the corners of the room, finding no trace of Flora hiding in the shadows. The two let out a sigh of relief, closed the door, and resumed their conversation.
Flora, hiding in the corner shadows, let out a breath of relief. Her Mental Energy focused on the two men as she began to listen intently to their conversation—
Li Size sat in the adjacent private room, a slight smile playing on his lips.
He knew Flora had successfully infiltrated, and now all that remained was to wait for her to bring back useful information.
Lilith held his hand, her eyes filled with admiration:
"Boss, you are so smart—this way, we neither alert the enemy nor fail to obtain information."
Li Size patted her hand:
"Be patient. We will soon learn Viscount Wiseman's secret."
The moon outside had risen high, and the tavern's guests gradually dispersed, but the light in Private Room 3 remained on—
Graham and the masked man's conversation continued, and Flora, hiding in the corner, was committing every word of their dialogue to memory...
Inside Private Room 3, candlelight flickered, casting mottled shadows on the faded hunting oil paintings hanging on the wooden walls.
The air was filled with the mellow aroma of aged whiskey and the sharp scent of Graham's cologne.
Graham sat on a leather sofa, the top of his ebony cane carved with the Wiseman Family crest.
He pinched a silver wine glass between his fingers, the amber liquid gently swirling within, his eyes full of disdain:
"Callen Thorne, the five shipments last week—the Magic Crystal Powder, Black Iron Ingots, and that batch of 'special medicinal herbs'—did they all successfully pass through the Miners Brotherhood's new route?"
The masked man, referred to as Callen, sat on a wooden chair opposite him. The hood of his black cloak obscured most of his face, revealing only the stubble on his chin and a pair of eyes gleaming with vigilance.
His fingers unconsciously rubbed the hilt of the dagger at his waist, his knuckles turning white from the force:
"Reporting to Butler Graham, all... all were successfully transported to the Feiting border. It's just this new route... I always feel uneasy. Although the Miners Brotherhood accepted the money, they are still newcomers in the smuggling world..."
Graham let out a sneer, tapping his cane crisply on the floor:
"Uneasy? Callen, you are still too young. This route was personally confirmed by His Lordship the Viscount—don't ask unnecessary questions."
His voice lowered slightly, carrying a mysterious smugness:
"His Lordship received definite news from Feiting. This route is absolutely reliable. You just need to execute the orders."
Flora, hiding in the corner shadows, felt her heart jump suddenly—
She remembered the 'Counter-Espionage' plan Li Size had told her: the Miners Brotherhood's new route was actually a trap set by the Internal Affairs Department, and Viscount Wiseman was clearly misled by false intelligence from Feiting, believing this route was in the hands of his own people.
She held her breath and continued listening.
Callen's body stiffened almost imperceptibly.
He raised his head, a flicker of curiosity crossing his eyes, but he quickly lowered them again:
"It's... it's just my overthinking. Then the next shipment..."
Graham set down his wine glass, leaned forward, and his gaze sharpened:
"The next shipment volume will double. Besides the usual Magic Crystals and metals, there will be several of His Lordship the Viscount's 'important assets'—you know, those things that cannot see the light of day. Additionally, five 'attendants' will accompany the shipment to Feiting. They are the Viscount's confidants and need to go ahead to make arrangements."
Callen's breathing paused. He hesitated for a moment, then finally asked tentatively:
"Butler... Is His Lordship the Viscount preparing to leave the Crimson Soul?"
Graham's expression instantly darkened. He slammed his cane heavily onto the floor with a loud 'thud':
"Callen Thorne! Viscount's affairs are not for you to be curious about! Do your job properly, or else—"
A flash of ruthlessness crossed his eyes:
"You know the consequences."
