324: Eye of the Nest

A cold smirk played across Shang Wan Ning's lips beneath her hood.

[The time is ripe.]

Her withered hand retracted into the shadows, not sparing another glance at the boiling battlefield. Her black robe brushed against the squirming, viscous fleshy walls as she dove toward the deepest part of the spire.

Objective: The core restricted area of the mother nest eye.

Chen Yu was busy counting money when her sea of consciousness suddenly went blank.

“A-Yu, time to work.”

The White-Haired Loli shuddered and swiftly stuffed her little notebook into her bosom. Glancing around to ensure no one was watching, she wrapped herself in her black robe, moving like a slippery loach.

Swish! She slipped into an inconspicuous crack in the fleshy membrane, following Shang Wan Ning's aura.

Her heart was still wailing.

[My magic crystals, my wife-fund! Your Majesty, you must compensate me!!!]

[Wait, isn't Your Majesty my wife?!]

[Shut up, I am not your wife.]

[Oh ho! Shang the Tsundere. If you're so tough, don't eat the honey!]

[Get lost, no lewdness allowed.]

The passage leading to the core of the mother nest eye was even more disgusting than the outside.

The fleshy walls were no longer dark red but a strange purplish-black. The pulsing was more violent, and the mucus was as thick as superglue, stretching into threads as they stepped on it.

The air was filled with a fishy sweetness mixed with the scent of decay; one breath was enough to make someone faint.

Shang Wan Ning led the way, occasionally tapping the fleshy walls.

With a flash of ghostly blue Soul Fire from her fingertips, the squirming surveillance tumors or patrolling bone-armored guards ahead would freeze for a few seconds.

Clearing a path for the two of them.

Her techniques were clean and efficient; she handled black magic even more skillfully than the natives of Wormrock City.

Chen Yu pinched her nose and followed closely with small steps, muttering in her sea of consciousness. “Where did Her Majesty learn this infiltration and sabotage skill? The Underworld doesn't offer this course, does it?”

“Did she take private classes, or did she practice by peeping at Sister Meng and the Secretary-General while they were bathing?”

“Tsk tsk, what a female hooligan.”

The end of the passage suddenly became open and bright.

It was a chamber composed of countless blood vessels and pulsing tumors. In the center of the chamber floated a giant eyeball over a kilometer in diameter—the mother nest eye.

The eyeball was entirely purplish-black, covered in earthworm-like blood vessels.

The pupil was a constantly rotating chaotic vortex... chanting whispers of the gods that inspired awe.

“We are all the flesh and blood you shed, waiting in the rotten soil to be recast in the furnace.”

“In the cradle woven of fascia, unformed screams suckle on pus,”

“Every piece of shed skin murmurs: ‘Please knead me into your texture.’”

“Your womb is the star-core furnace, boiling with the cries of trillions of unborn things...”

Countless fleshy tendrils hung from the bottom of the eyeball, plunging into the bubbling pool of blood below.

The blood pool churned with the remains of various creatures; magic was frantically drained by the fleshy tendrils and funneled into that terrifying eyeball.

An extension of Sabrina's will, the power core of the Gray Mist Territory.

Leah's raspy prompt flashed through Shang Wan Ning's mind: “Light... pure light... extreme order...”

Shang Wan Ning flipped her hand, revealing several inconspicuous bone talismans.

These were “Holy Light Purification Talismans” forged using remnants of elven light arrows and Wormrock City's stock of “Glowstones,” specifically designed to counter the chaos of ancient gods.

“A-Yu.”

Shang Wan Ning's voice rang directly in Chen Yu's sea of consciousness, “Do you see those main fleshy tendrils at the bottom of the eyeball connecting to the blood pool? At the base, the darkest tumor-like nodes.”

Chen Yu squinted, enduring the nausea from the divine whispers to look closely.

Sure enough, at the base of the dozen thickest tendrils, there were bulging tumors the size of fists.

“The weakness of the ‘eye’ Leah mentioned?” Chen Yu asked via telepathy.

“Yes.”

Shang Wan Ning flicked her finger, and a light talisman shot toward the nearest tumor node.

Sss—!

The moment the light talisman touched the purplish-black tumor, it erupted with a blinding silver-white light.

The light carried the power of orderly purification, like a red-hot iron pressed against rotting meat.

“Awooo!!!”

The entire chamber shook violently.

The shriek of the mother nest eye was silent, yet it pierced the deepest part of the soul.

That rotating pupil suddenly stopped, and the blood vessels surged wildly, twisting into a net within the frozen pupil.

The tumor node hit by this power began to twitch, its surface turning black and carbonizing at a visible rate.

Scorched marks spread along the muscle fibers.

In the connected blood pool, the energy flow suddenly became turbulent and then cut off, with no further sign of movement.

It actually worked?

Chen Yu almost cheered out loud.

Shang Wan Ning did not stop, her withered hand flicking repeatedly.

One by one, the forged “Holy Light Purification Talismans” were shot toward the other main tumor nodes!

Sss! Sss! Sss!

Silver-white light flashed repeatedly, and the mother nest eye trembled violently. Painful shrieks whipped up a storm on the spiritual level, the blood pool boiled fiercely, and energy transmission was completely severed.

A dozen main fleshy tendrils twitched and withered, and fine cracks began to appear on the surface of the purplish-black eyeball.

“The aura of the elf, Avila.” Shang Wan Ning mimicked a bone-deep “hatred.”

She intentionally used spiritual energy to vibrate, imprinting this sentence into the chaotic energy fluctuations and sending it deep into the mother nest eye.

“Damn Nature Pantheon, how dare you sneak attack the Mother Goddess's core.”

These words, like a final poison, were poured into the chaotic consciousness.

The will that was enjoying the war sacrifice was instantly ignited by the core's intense pain and the accusation of “Elf Goddess Avila.”

Ah!!!

A terrifyingly peerless will erupted from the mother nest eye, sweeping through the entire Wormrock City.

At the top of the spire, Angmar, who was admiring the war scenes, saw the crystal points of his compound eyes shatter.

His massive body was hit as if by a heavy blow, tumbling from the bone throne, and dark green mucus sprayed wildly from his mouthparts.

“No, My... My God?” he roared in terror, his soul trembling.

Throughout Wormrock City, all fleshy monsters, whether fighting or hiding, froze simultaneously and let out painful wails.

The elf army outside the city was also deterred by this sudden pressure, and their offensive came to a halt.

On the left battlefield, Elder Sylvia spat out a mouthful of blood and looked toward the depths of Wormrock City in horror.

“Avila above... what... what is this?”

Spire, core chamber.

Shang Wan Ning waved her hand, and the last three light talismans pierced into several newly opened cracks on the eyeball itself.

“We have to go.”

She grabbed the collar of the dazed Chen Yu, and their figures turned into two streaks of ghostly light. They crashed through the fleshy membrane at the top of the chamber and disappeared into the intricate network of pipes.

Behind them, the mother nest eye let out a final roar.

The cracks on the eyeball spread rapidly, and purplish-black juice seeped out like pus and blood.

The core that maintained the flesh power of the Gray Mist Territory and carried Sabrina's will was beginning to collapse from within.

Sabrina's descent channel was forcibly torn, contaminated, and heavily damaged.

Her wrath would burn the Gray Mist Territory to cinders, and Wormrock City was destined to turn to dust.

And the Elf Goddess Avila was definitely going to take the blame for this.

The old grudge between the Nature Pantheon and the ancient gods would have a new, irreconcilable enmity added to it because of today's “sneak attack.”

Shang Wan Ning carried Chen Yu as they sprinted through the viscous pipes.

The White-Haired Loli finally snapped out of it, her little face flushed with excitement, gesturing wildly.

“Your Majesty, it's done! Sabrina's clone must be exploding with rage. Elf Goddess Avila is taking the hit, hahaha!”

A slight curve appeared on Shang Wan Ning's lips beneath her hood, her voice carrying a hint of imperceptible relief.

“Yes. The Mercury Plane is safe for now.”

“What about the night market?” Chen Yu blinked.

“We'll talk when we get back.”

“Oh yeah!” Chen Yu cheered.

Then she remembered something and her face fell. “My magic crystal bill is still on the battlefield.”

Shang Wan Ning: “...”

[This money-grubbing Prefecture City God is beyond help.]

Streaks of light broke through layers of fleshy membranes, and ahead, a glimmer of light representing the exit was faintly visible.

The overture to the destruction of Wormrock City had already begun, and the instigator was retiring with her noisy “trophy” in hand.
