385: An evil god is hatching?

Xiao Si's electronic voice seemed to be coated in a thick layer of honey, cloying and ingratiating.

It boomed and spread through Shang Wan Ning's Sea of Consciousness: "Thanks for the compliment, great host. Love you~ Mwah ^3^."

Shang Wan Ning's heart sank, and the veins on her forehead, which had just calmed down, nearly bulged again.

She glanced sideways at the blood cocoon still pulsing on the ground and said coldly, "Spare me that empty flattery; it's sickening."

Tudor stood to her right, eyes fixed on his nose and heart fixed on his heart, clearly treating himself as a piece of background scenery.

Having followed Her Majesty for decades, he had long since mastered the rules: never open his mouth to ask what shouldn't be asked, pretend not to exist if he couldn't hear anything, and prioritize keeping his 'bonus' above all else.

Shang Wan Ning suddenly remembered what Xiao Si had said earlier about "waiting for the Grand Cathedral of Holy Radiance to fall." She raised an eyebrow. "Leaving tens of thousands of survivors is useful. I am a righteous god; I disdain using certain filthy methods, and I will never use them."

This was half explanation and half warning.

Although she was the Master of the Underworld and the blood on her hands could overflow three thousand li of the Wangchuan River, she never wantonly killed the innocent.

The Grand Cathedral of Holy Radiance trapped many believers of light; if it truly fell, those people would nine times out of ten not survive.

Xiao Si swallowed the words that had reached its lips, its electronic voice as obedient as a cat held by the scruff of its neck: "Understood, great host."

But no one saw that the little light orb in the System Space had shrunk into a sesame seed that was almost invisible.

It complained frantically in its heart: She could have come earlier to snatch more filth, but she insisted on waiting for these few pieces of trash to come to her door.

And then she acted tough, claiming she disdained it—the black-bellied Empress is confirmed.

Shang Wan Ning seemed to have grown a pair of ears that could hear everything, and she swept her divine sense through the System Space several times.

Xiao Si froze instantly, not daring to make even the slightest movement.

"How long until it hatches?" Shang Wan Ning withdrew her divine sense and kicked the blood cocoon on the ground.

The patterns on the surface of the blood cocoon brightened, as if urging her to hurry.

"Detection of filth source is sufficient; estimated hatching time is fifteen minutes, great host." Xiao Si replied in a second, terrified of being scolded for being a beat too slow.

Shang Wan Ning nodded and found a clean chair to sit on. Her posture was lazy but exuded an invisible sense of oppression. "Tudor, guard this place well. Don't let any irrelevant things break in."

"Yes, Your Majesty." Tudor acknowledged.

He shrank his figure into the corner, almost blending into the wall. He knew clearly that for the upcoming hatching process, he was only fit to be a quiet stone; seeing more meant more mistakes, and seeing less meant fewer mistakes.

The room suddenly fell silent.

Only the whistling sound of the night wind blowing through the hole and the increasingly rapid pulsing of the blood cocoon remained.

The rhythm of that pulsing became increasingly rapid, and the dark red patterns seemed to be imbued with life, flowing slowly along the cocoon's body; with every rotation, the color deepened by a shade.

The smell of blood in the room became more and more pungent, and within it drifted a faint, almost imperceptible trace of spiritual power.

What was strange was that the smell of this spiritual power slowly matched the scent that wafted out when Chen Yu used to mess around and channel spiritual power in the past.

Shang Wan Ning leaned against the back of the chair, her mind filled with the scene that was interrupted last night: Chief Assistant Lin's ears turning red while wearing her custom work uniform...

The Secretary-General's face intentionally stiffened while playing the role of a stern superior... The more she thought about it, the angrier she became, and she kicked the blood cocoon again.

"Hatch properly, and don't pull any tricks."

"Otherwise, I will throw you back to the bottom of the Wangchuan River right now and pin you down until the end of time."

The blood cocoon was startled, its pulsing shuddering abruptly; then it brightened its patterns even more diligently, and even the light spots seeping out from the cracks became more rapid, clearly showing its loyalty.

Xiao Si muttered quietly in the Sea of Consciousness: "great host, it's just an unhatched Evil God, don't be so fierce to it!"

"Shut up."

Xiao Si instantly fell silent.

Time slipped away second by second, and in the blink of an eye, ten minutes passed.

The blood cocoon, originally several meters high, expanded by several circles, and the patterns on its surface shone blindingly. Tiny light spots seeped out from the patterns, floating in the air.

The aura similar to Chen Yu's spiritual power became increasingly clear, and Shang Wan Ning's brows furrowed tighter and tighter.

[Huh, why does this smell feel the same as when Chen Yu used to be handsy and mess around channeling spiritual power back then?]

Just as she was muttering to herself, a soft "crack" sound rang out.

A crack opened at the top of the blood cocoon, and tiny fissures spread like a spiderweb, becoming more and more numerous and dense.

Immediately after, more "crack" sounds overlapped, and fragments of the shell on the surface of the blood cocoon fell off.

Those fragments turned into fly ash as soon as they touched the blood mist.

Tudor couldn't help but glance at it a few more times, his eyes full of astonishment.

The commotion of this hatching was too unremarkable, completely different from the bloody storms he remembered when evil things hatched.

Another three minutes passed, and with a "crash," the top of the blood cocoon shattered completely, revealing the thing inside.

Shang Wan Ning's half-closed eyes snapped open, her pupils constricted, and her fingers tightened around the armrest.

Tudor was so shocked that he moved half a step out from the wall.

Sitting inside the blood cocoon was a tiny figure, about four or five years old. Where was the Evil God? It was clearly a little silver-haired loli.

She wore a small crimson dress the same color as the blood cocoon's patterns, her snow-white long hair hanging down to her waist, the ends of her hair curled with a faint red edge; she was the spitting image of a miniature Prefecture City God.

Her little face was as fair and clean as a porcelain doll, her brows and eyes curved, her nose small and delicate, and when she smiled, two sharp silver fangs appeared at the corners of her mouth.

Even the uncontainable, cunning expression was 'exactly the same' as when Chen Yu succeeded in a prank.

Shang Wan Ning's brain went "buzz," and old events from decades ago instantly surged up.

Chen Yu was handsy; seeing the blood cocoon in the Wangchuan River wasn't moving, she actually channeled spiritual power directly into it, only to be sucked back by the blood cocoon and almost drained dry.

At that time, she only thought of the blood cocoon as a good tool for absorbing resentment.

Who would have thought that when the Evil God blood cocoon hatched, it would look like it was carved from the same mold as A-Yu?

Having one Chen Yu in the Underworld was enough to give her a headache.

Adding another "little Chen Yu," and one that hid the source of an Evil God in her bones?

Shang Wan Ning could imagine with her eyes closed the scene of the future Underworld being in chaos and never having a day of peace.

Irritation gripped her heart. She stared at the little loli, her face so dark it could drip water.

"Xiao Si, you explain this to me clearly. Where is the Evil God? Why does this thing look exactly like Chen Yu?"

Xiao Si trembled like a sieve in the Sea of Consciousness and hurriedly pulled up the data panel: "H-host, great host, the detection is absolutely correct. This is the form of the blood cocoon after hatching."

"It should be... the spiritual power that Chen Yu channeled back then remained in the blood cocoon, mixed with the resentment and flesh filth at the bottom of the Wangchuan River, which is why she grew up looking like this."

"Heh, mixed into existence?" Shang Wan Ning sneered.

"So I spent half the night tossing and turning, only to hatch a 'Chen Yu replica'?"

Just at this moment, the little loli in the blood cocoon moved.

She crawled out from the broken blood cocoon, her movements so agile it didn't seem like she had just hatched, her snow-white long hair swaying with her movements.

She turned around, just in time to meet Shang Wan Ning's gaze.

The little loli first tilted her head, and a trace of evil energy flashed in her crimson eyes.
