52: Z449 Tunnel (Part Two)
"Sister is helping you lighten your burden!"
But almost the moment the head fell, an aura of decay surged from the depths of the tunnel.
Within seconds, a low and suppressed whimpering could be vaguely heard from that dark, deep abyss.
The crying carried a hint of chill that made one's hair stand on end.
Immediately after, a gust of yin wind suddenly roared in with a "whoosh, whoosh, whoosh..." sound. It instantly pierced through Tang Tang's body, making her shiver and causing all the hair on her skin to stand up.
In that instant, Tang Tang felt as if she had been thrown into a freezing ice cellar, the surrounding air seemingly condensing into frost.
Her heart tightened sharply, and she couldn't help but take several steps back.
At this moment, the temperature inside the tunnel plummeted below freezing, the cold aura permeating every corner.
Visibility in the tunnel had already been extremely limited, relying only on the weak light of the flashlight to barely see the road ahead.
Yet, the flashlight seemed to be affected by some kind of magnetic field, suddenly flickering before dying out completely.
Instantly, the entire tunnel plunged into absolute darkness, where one couldn't even see their own hand.
A strange, inexplicable atmosphere quietly spread. Vaguely, some odd movements were slowly closing in on Tang Tang from all directions—their footsteps becoming clearer, the distance growing shorter...
"Damn it! Is this a nest of Walking Corpses or a hideout for evil ghosts!" Tang Tang couldn't help but curse under her breath.
Facing such a bizarre scene, she simply closed her eyes, focused her spirit, and used her spiritual sense to perceive everything around her.
A hair-raising "rip, rip..." sound reached Tang Tang's ears.
It was the harsh friction of fingernails scraping against the wall.
Tang Tang shifted slightly, silently moving a few steps to the right, pressing her petite body tightly against the uneven wall.
...
However, just at this moment, the seemingly ordinary wall began to tremble without warning.
At first, it was just a slight vibration, but as time passed, this trembling became more and more violent, as if something was about to break through the surface.
The pockmarked and spotted wall constantly changed shape, and one white, bony arm after another abruptly emerged.
The arms were like countless slender worms, clinging tightly to a spiderweb, climbing and squirming upward in an extremely slow and eerie manner.
They skillfully avoided Tang Tang's line of sight, quietly stretching toward her from various inconspicuous corners.
This series of events happened far too quickly, leaving Tang Tang unable to react in time. It took a full three seconds for her to snap out of it, feeling a scorching heat coming from the talisman pressed against her back.
"Shoo—" A sharp piercing sound rang out as Tang Tang pinched a magic seal, unleashing several Wind Arrow spells. They accurately struck the wall, not only severing those disgusting arms but also peeling off the wall paint!
"Sss, sss..." Accompanied by the harsh sound, the ghost creature on the wall finally revealed its true form.
It turned out to be a three-meter-long meatball formed by absorbing various severed limbs, its fat layer having been forcibly shaved off by the wind arrows.
A horrifying, piercing shriek suddenly echoed through the tunnel. The black meatball's entire body exploded, turning into a large patch of thick, foul-smelling green liquid that splattered in all directions like rain.
A few drops accidentally landed on Tang Tang, and smoke immediately began to rise from the collar of her dharma robes, showing obvious signs of corrosion.
Tang Tang tore off the dharma robes and threw them aside, leaving only a thin T-shirt on her upper body.
She subconsciously reached out to touch her collarbone, immediately feeling a sharp pain, and looked down.
She saw that a string of transparent blisters had already appeared there.
"Sss—it hurts! This poison is too potent!" Tang Tang gasped, unable to help but complain gloomily: "Even my constitution, which is claimed to be immune to all poisons, is having an allergic reaction to this damn corpse poison..."
Before she could finish speaking, another gust of bone-chilling cold wind roared from behind her.
Tang Tang's heart tightened as she looked back, discovering that the previous fat-like mass had re-coalesced.
The mass extended a bony, skeletal arm, which instantly transformed into a twisted iron chain, sweeping towards Tang Tang.
"Persistent, aren't you! Can't you just let this girl rest for a moment..." Tang Tang glared, gritting her teeth as she roared: "Don't think that Daoists are all pure-hearted, desireless pushovers. Today, I'll show you what I'm capable of!"
Tang Tang didn't want to easily waste spiritual power before finding the source of the corpse poison, but since these abominable things were actively provoking her, she no longer needed to hold back.
"Hmph, fine then, enjoy the 'deliverance package' I've prepared for you!" With that, Tang Tang took out an antique-looking Zhaixing Ancient Umbrella from the treasure pouch at her waist and forcefully spun the handle.
In an instant, a surge of pure spiritual power gushed out from the ancient umbrella. The spiritual power converged to form a wind shield, tightly wrapping around Tang Tang to protect her from the corrosion of the corpse poison.
The remaining spiritual power condensed into hundreds of wind blades, which shot towards the mass like arrows released from a bow.
Several wind blades accurately flew straight into the mass's wide-open maw, disappearing deep into its throat in the blink of an eye!
The wind blades were imbued with the purest, unadulterated spiritual power, and the force they contained was undoubtedly highly effective at restraining such evil things.
With a muffled "bang," a thick black mist suddenly expanded at an alarming speed, instantly blowing off more than half of the mass's head!
The mass let out a miserable howl, frantically shaking its neck as it staggered backward.
Its massive body also became blurry, disappearing into the wall behind it in the blink of an eye.
From the initial arrows whistling through the wall to the later wind blades pressing against the mass's throat, everything happened too quickly, but the noise caused had alerted all the Walking Corpses in the tunnel.
After a brief silence, the sound of footsteps grew louder. It was as if a flood was about to pour out from there, and after just three or four minutes, Tang Tang saw countless black shadows appear in her line of sight.
"Damn! Moving so fast? A mutation?"
