364: Divine Countermeasures and Daily Life in the Underworld
[ After my heartbreak ~ I have come back from the dead!!! ]
Astrea pointed at the blood vessels of the Blood Elves in the projection, holy light condensing into thin needles, and touched that faint golden halo: "Look at the energy in these bloodlines. Half of it is Sabrina's power of flesh and blood, and the other half… looks exactly like your Nature Pantheon power."
Avila nearly spat out a mouthful of apple, choking until she coughed, her face turning bright red instantly.
Half from anger, half from embarrassment.
She tossed the apple core onto the table. "What nonsense are you spouting, Your Excellency? How could my divine power possibly be fused with that lunatic's?"
Goodness, these words made Avila bristle on the spot, the light feathers in the sanctuary trembling three times.
Who doesn't know that the Elf Goddess was once pinned to the ground by Sabrina to have her blood drained? That lecherous woman had crazily declared she wanted to fuse their divine powers together.
These words were practically rubbing salt into Avila's wounds.
Astrea raised an eyebrow and withdrew her holy light, her expression leisurely: "I am not spouting nonsense. Look for yourself; the fluctuation frequency of this Nature Pantheon power is exactly the same as the one in your divine core."
"If I didn't know your temperament, I would really think you had secretly engaged in some kind of 'collaboration' with Sabrina."
"Pah!"
Avila grabbed the divine consciousness fragment on the table and threw it at her. "Who wants to collaborate with her? When that crazy woman was draining the blood of My God back then, why didn't I hear you talking about collaboration?"
Astrea reached out to catch the fragment, her fingertips brushing it with holy light to smooth it out. "What's the rush? I am just stating facts. Sabrina must have stolen a sample of your Nature Pantheon power to create these mongrel Blood Elves."
She paused, her expression darkening.
She traced a few arcs over the projection, circling the scene of the Blood Elves tearing into their own kind: "This kind of fusion is unstable. Look at these Blood Elves; their lifespans are pitifully short, and they lose control and tear into their own kind—Sabrina is engaging in trial and error!!!"
Avila's anger gradually subsided, staring at the out-of-control Blood Elves in the projection, the golden light in her divine pupils brightening again.
"Trial and error? She wants to create a stable fusion?"
"Nine times out of ten."
Astrea nodded and walked to the center of the sanctuary, her silver-white battle armor gleaming coldly in the holy light. "The filthy energy in the Land of Chaos is not pure enough; she needs Nature Pantheon power to neutralize it, which is why she set her sights on your kin."
That explains it.
Sabrina placed the Blood Elves in the territory of the Nature Pantheon, not only using the kin's natural power as 'nourishment' but also using it to provoke, truly killing two birds with one stone.
Avila clenched her fists. "Then what do we do now?"
"We can't just watch her continue her trial and error and let more of my people turn into monsters."
Astrea turned around, the playfulness in her eyes completely gone, replaced by the steady composure unique to a leader. "Step one: Investigate. I will send angels to the lower realm to capture the remaining Blood Elves and bring back some live ones to interrogate them about Sabrina's subsequent plans."
"At the same time, find out how she obtained a sample of your Nature Pantheon power. Besides me, no third person knows the fluctuation frequency of your divine core."
Avila's heart sank.
This was indeed a problem.
The fluctuations of the Nature Pantheon power were always protected by a barrier; how could Sabrina have obtained a sample?
Could it be when she was draining my blood back then…
At the thought of that scene, Avila's neck began to sting again, and her face instantly turned even redder.
That lecherous woman had been touching the location of her divine core while draining her blood; it wasn't just simple flirting, she was stealing a sample!!!
"Step two: Monitor."
Astrea did not notice Avila's distraction and continued: "There are three exits in the Land of Chaos. I will have the War Angel take turns monitoring them. As long as Sabrina dares to show her face, they will send word immediately…"
She walked up to Avila and patted her on the shoulder: "And stop thinking about rushing in to fight. Sabrina is just hoping for your divine power to spiral out of control so she can take the opportunity to entangle herself with the Nature Pantheon…"
"She hasn't even settled the score with you for breaking three of her divine bones back then."
Avila curled her lip, though she agreed with her friend's words in her heart. That lecherous woman was a lunatic; the more you confronted her head-on, the more persistent she became. She still remembered the trauma of being entangled for three days and three nights from last time, even after ten thousand years.
"Got it."
The Elf Goddess responded gloomily, grabbed the other half of the apple from the table, and took a crunchy bite. "Then what happens after we find out? Go directly to the Land of Chaos to find her?"
"Not for now."
Astrea shook her head, returned to sit on the white jade throne, and opened the Holy Bible of Light on the table. "Once we find out her subsequent plans, we will join forces… Even if Sabrina hides in the Land of Chaos, she will have to come out."
Avila nodded, the frustration in her heart finally dissipating a little. With Astrea leading, she wouldn't have to be as helpless as before, not even knowing who to take revenge on.
"Then I will return to the Divine Kingdom first and wait for Your Excellency's good news." She stood up, the grass leaves on the hem of her divine robe swaying. Her hair was still messy, but she was much more spirited than when she arrived.
Astrea waved her hand, saying with disdain: "Go. Do not act like before and damage the holy spring water droplets of the Divine Kingdom. If other deities come to complain again, I will not help you."
Avila blushed, turned around, and walked out, stepping on light feathers.
The sanctuary doors slowly closed behind the Elf Goddess, leaving Astrea staring at the divine consciousness fragment on the table, a hint of coldness added to the composure in her eyes.
[ mother of flesh and blood, it won't be so easy for you to get away this time. ]
Meanwhile, in the Jiaotai Palace of the Netherworld, it was a completely different scene.
Shang Wan Ning pushed a stack of jade slips onto the table, leaned back against the phoenix chair, and rubbed her temples.
Before Sister Meng went into seclusion, she dumped most of the Bridge of Helplessness affairs on her. Ahead, there were outer gods from other realms stirring, and behind, there were immortals and gods from the Source Realm drooling with greed…
The Empress didn't even have time to go into seclusion to improve her cultivation.
"Your Majesty, this is today's Soul Contract verification list, as well as the bills from the Research Institute…"
The Secretary-General walked in carrying a tray, placing the jade slips and bills on the desks on both sides. Her gaze swept over the mountain of document bags on the table, her brows furrowing slightly.
Shang Wan Ning glanced at the list and waved her hand, her posture carrying a hint of laziness: "Just put it there, I will look at it later."
Ling Qi did not move, her fingertips tapping lightly on the edge of the tray: "Your Majesty has already delayed it for three days. Sister Meng instructed before she went into seclusion that the Soul Contract verification must not have any errors."
As soon as the Secretary-General spoke, even the surrounding yin energy became a bit heavier.
Only Ling Qi dared to speak to Shang Wan Ning like this; if it were anyone else, they would have already been thrown to the Wangxiang Terrace to reflect.
Shang Wan Ning sighed helplessly, stood up from the phoenix chair, reached out to wrap her arm around Ling Qi's waist, and rested her chin on her fragrant shoulder.
"AQi~ I just want to rest for a while. Look at this pile of jade slips; they are giving me a headache."
Ling Qi's ear tips suddenly burned, but her voice softened: "Then Your Majesty may rest for half an hour. After half an hour, you must handle the government affairs."
"Okay~"
Shang Wan Ning smiled and rubbed against her neck, then let go and turned to walk towards the inner chamber.
"AQi, help me keep an eye on things, and call me if there is anything urgent."
"Is that okay?"
