149: Chapter 149 underestimated the shamelessness of the rich.
Originally, Sun Yizhong thought that Zhou Qian had come to provide a supplementary statement for Wang Hao, so he wore a perfunctory smile on his face.
But to his surprise, as soon as the two met, Zhou Qian directly took out a document and handed it to Sun Yizhong.
Sun Yizhong took the document with some surprise, glanced at the cover, raised an eyebrow, and a playful expression appeared on his face.
When the words "Legal Notice" caught his eye, he looked at Zhou Qian with great interest, his tone carrying a hint of mockery: "What is this, Lawyer Zhou? Are you planning to sue me?"
Hearing this, Zhou Qian laughed. He pushed up the glasses on the bridge of his nose and put on an amiable, money-making-friendly appearance: "Captain Sun, you are really joking. How could we possibly sue you?"
He paused and continued to explain, "Chairman Wang has already told me. After Wang Hao's incident, you personally escorted him to the hospital and even stayed outside the operating room until the middle of the night. Come to think of it, you are Wang Hao's savior."
"Savior? Those four words are too heavy; I can't accept them." Hearing this, the playful expression on Sun Yizhong's face deepened.
He flicked the legal notice in his hand, looked straight into Zhou Qian's eyes, and asked bluntly, "Then what exactly are you up to?"
Zhou Qian unhurriedly adjusted his glasses and responded with a smile: "My client, Mr. Wang Hao, wants to sue Qin Yi and Su Mo."
"Heh," Sun Yizhong found this amusing. He paused for a moment and then asked back, "Are you saying that Wang Hao, as the wrongdoer and the perpetrator, wants to sue the two victims? This is truly bizarre. Lawyer Zhou, are you sure you understand the case clearly? Have you figured out who the real victim is?"
Zhou Qian reached out, calmly took the legal notice back from Sun Yizhong's hand, and tucked it into his briefcase.
Afterwards, he responded unhurriedly: "Who is the victim and who is the perpetrator is naturally for Captain Sun to investigate. As for me, I am just a lawyer, and I can only act according to my client's wishes."
"Mr. Wang Hao believes that it was Qin Yi who, out of jealousy over his intimate relationship with Miss Su, committed acts of violence against him, resulting in multiple injuries to my client's body. Therefore, I have the right to seek justice for my client."
Sun Yizhong found this laughable. He put his hands on his hips and looked at Zhou Qian, his eyes full of disdain and contempt: "Justice? Lawyer Zhou, don't you feel hypocritical saying that?"
However, Zhou Qian did not seem to care about Sun Yizhong's attitude. He looked straight into Sun Yizhong's eyes and continued: "Captain Sun, I didn't come here to argue with you. I know that Su Mo is still being detained at your police station, and I hope to speak with her. I hope Captain Sun can make it convenient."
"Talk to Su Mo?" Upon hearing this, the tension in Sun Yizhong's heart tightened immediately.
He looked at Zhou Qian with a sudden realization, finally understanding the true purpose of this lawyer's visit. He frowned and gave a thumbs up, "complimenting" him: "Lawyer Zhou, what a brilliant scheme! You want to use a legal notice to scare the victim? You want to make the girl back off and commit perjury for Wang Hao, right?"
"Heh, Captain Sun, everything said and done requires evidence. Based on what you just said, believe it or not, I could sue you for slander?!" Zhou Qian laughed again upon hearing this.
He adjusted his glasses and continued in a deep voice, "I am simply representing my client, wanting to speak with Miss Su, to see if we can reach a settlement."
"After all, my client once had a relationship with Miss Su, and he doesn't want to burn all bridges. If a settlement can be reached, then the only target of the lawsuit will be Qin Yi. But if a settlement cannot be reached, then both will be sued. That is the only matter; other than that, there are no other intentions."
"According to you, Wang Hao really is deeply in love with Miss Su." Sun Yizhong hung a mocking smile on the corner of his mouth and asked dismissively.
Zhou Qian pushed up his glasses and responded without changing his expression: "People are not made of wood or stone; who can be without emotion? I believe Miss Su must have been deceived by Qin Yi, which is why she lashed out at Wang Hao."
"My client said that as long as Miss Su is willing to tell the 'truth of the facts,' he can overlook Miss Su's wrongdoing."
Sun Yizhong snorted coldly, crossed his arms over his chest, and looked mocking: "Is that so? Then what about those photos and videos on Wang Hao's phone?"
"Miss Su has already stated in her testimony that it was Wang Hao who used those videos and photos to coerce her into luring Qin Yi to Nightlife Bar, and he even planned to offer her to the owner of Nightlife Bar, just to set a trap for Qin Yi..."
Before Sun Yizhong could finish, Zhou Qian raised his hand to interrupt him, retorting calmly: "Captain Sun, seeing that you are so young and promising, you shouldn't be married yet, right? Do you also not have a girlfriend?"
Sun Yizhong frowned, not understanding why Zhou Qian suddenly asked about his private life. He glared and said, "Does whether I have a girlfriend or not have anything to do with you?"
Zhou Qian smiled and assumed the posture of someone who had been there: "Captain Sun, don't misunderstand. I have no other intentions. In today's society, when the feelings between men and women run deep, it is very normal to take some photos and videos to record happy moments."
"My client never forced Miss Su to film those things; it was all done voluntarily when both parties were deeply in love. As for the coercion you mentioned, that is out of the question."
"Those photos and videos were only stored on my client's phone, never uploaded to the internet, and there are no backups. I think there must be some misunderstanding, or perhaps Miss Su was incited by Qin Yi."
"Therefore, I want to talk to Miss Su in person. After all, it's not a big deal. Once the misunderstanding is cleared up, won't the problem be solved?"
Listening to Zhou Qian's sophistry, Sun Yizhong felt a surge of anger. He was just about to retort when he was interrupted by a knock on the door.
The policewoman who had previously helped Shen Jianan with the paperwork walked in and handed a document to Sun Yizhong: "Captain, this document requires your signature."
Sun Yizhong took the document, glanced at it, and quickly signed his name. While signing, he asked casually: "Is Captain Shen's business finished?"
"Yes, the procedures are finished, and the person has been sent away," the policewoman replied, taking the document.
"Good, thank you for your hard work. Go ahead and get back to work." Sun Yizhong waved his hand to signal the policewoman to leave.
After the policewoman left, Zhou Qian looked at Sun Yizhong impatiently: "Captain Sun, we've talked so much, can you make it convenient for me to see Miss Su? I really just want to clear up the misunderstanding with her."
"Uh," Sun Yizhong glanced at the expectant Zhou Qian and sneered inwardly. He leaned back, resting steadily on his office chair, looking relaxed and comfortable.
Reaching out to gently touch the tip of his nose, he smiled awkwardly: "Is that so? I'm really sorry, but Miss Su is no longer at the police station."
Zhou Qian was stunned upon hearing this, and then an expression of disbelief appeared on his face. "Not at the police station? How is that pos..." He had just started to speak when he suddenly realized something, and his words came to an abrupt halt.
He took a deep breath, his brows furrowed, clearly trying to calm his emotions. Then, he slowly stood up, looked directly at Sun Yizhong, and squeezed out a helpless smile, "So, Captain Sun has been beating around the bush with me for so long just to buy time to let Su Mo go."
Sun Yizhong raised his eyebrows in feigned surprise, "Hey, Lawyer Zhou, that's not right. What do you mean by beating around the bush? I was sincerely discussing the case with you."
"As for Su Mo, before you came, we had already decided to let her go. To tell you the truth, regarding the Nightlife Bar matter, we have witnesses, physical evidence, and on-site surveillance videos. The evidence is conclusive."
"This case is set in stone. Even if 'Song Shijie' came, this case cannot be overturned! You, stop wasting your energy, lest you get dragged down by Wang Hao and ruin your own legal career."
Upon hearing this, a flash of anger crossed Zhou Qian's eyes. He clenched his fists tightly but quickly released them. He coldly threw out a sentence: "My legal career is not something Captain Sun needs to worry about! Farewell!"
Having said that, he turned sharply and strode out of Sun Yizhong's office, slamming the door shut with a bang.
Watching Zhou Qian's departing back, a sneer of disdain appeared on Sun Yizhong's face. He slowly stood up, adjusted his clothes, left the office, and hurried towards the small conference room.
At this time, in the small conference room, Shen Jianan and Qin Yi were sitting side by side, and she was chatting with Qin Yi with great interest about seeing Su Mo off just now.
"Qin Yi, to be honest, do you still have feelings for Su Mo in your heart?" Shen Jianan stared at Qin Yi with a probing look, as if trying to capture some clues from his expression.
"Tch," upon hearing this, Qin Yi's eyes flashed slightly, but he quickly covered it up. He glanced at Shen Jianan sideways, a rebellious smile curling the corner of his mouth, crossed his legs, and put on an indifferent appearance, "What's there to be unable to let go of? She was the one who betrayed me first; she should be the one who can't let go."
Shen Jianan didn't buy it. She leaned closer and said in a low, mysterious voice: "You, stop pretending! I saw it just now. Were you peeking at Su Mo leaving from the window?"
She paused and added teasingly: "I really didn't expect that, even though you already have a new girlfriend, you are still quite..." She hesitated for a moment before finding an appropriate word, and continued, "quite sentimental towards your ex-girlfriend..."
Qin Yi, having his thoughts exposed, felt a flash of embarrassment on his face, but he still stubbornly turned his head away, "What do you know? I just happened to be looking at the scenery."
Just as the two were bantering, the door of the conference room was suddenly pushed open. Shen Jianan hurriedly stood up and quickly distanced herself from Qin Yi, as if afraid of being misunderstood.
Sun Yizhong walked in, and seeing the situation in the room, an awkward look appeared on his face. He coughed lightly to ease the awkward atmosphere, then smiled awkwardly and teased: "Uh, it seems I have come at a bad time..."
Shen Jianan pretended not to hear, reached out to tuck her hair, looked out the window, trying to change the subject to bring the atmosphere back to normal, and replied without turning her head: "Did Wang Hao's lawyer leave?"
"Yes, he's gone," Sun Yizhong said, pulling over a chair and sitting down. "That lawyer is trouble." He sighed, his brows slightly furrowed, clearly still feeling the lingering fear from the confrontation just now.
"What kind of trouble?" Qin Yi's curiosity was piqued, and he asked.
"Heh," Sun Yizhong looked at Qin Yi and smiled helplessly. "Do you know what he came here for?" He kept them in suspense. Seeing that both shook their heads, he continued: "Originally, I also thought he was just here to record a statement for Wang Hao. But I didn't expect that these rich people are indeed meticulous and have clever methods. He wasn't here to record any statement at all, but to serve a legal notice to you, Qin Yi, and Su Mo!"
"What did you say? Serve a legal notice to both of them?" Shen Jianan thought she had misheard, widened her eyes, and asked back in disbelief.
"That's right, you didn't mishear," Sun Yizhong nodded affirmatively. "It is to serve a legal notice to Qin Yi and Su Mo. Wang Hao wants to sue you and Su Mo for intentional injury..."
"Heh... it really is the villain filing the complaint first!" Shen Jianan sneered, speechless, and continued with disdain, "It seems we really underestimated the level of shamelessness of these rich people!"
