309: Chapter 309 Searching Huang Hansheng's Residence, Li Bing Forced into the Trap (Part 1)
The call connected, and Lei Poshan's voice came through the receiver: "A-Yu, how are things progressing?"
"Godfather, according to Li Bing, Huang Hansheng has already disposed of Third Brother. However, I keep feeling like something isn't quite right about this," Zhang Yu replied.
Lei Poshan had initially been somewhat relieved, but hearing Zhang Yu say this, he immediately became alert and asked curiously, "What's going on? Tell me in detail."
Zhang Yu then recounted everything Li Bing had told him, point by point.
He then added, "Li Bing has already sent over the Materials Ye Qingcheng reported and Third Brother's autopsy report. I've looked through them carefully; aside from the cause of Third Brother's death being a bit strange, there aren't any other obvious points of suspicion."
The other end of the line fell into silence, with only Lei Poshan's faint breathing audible.
After a moment, Lei Poshan's voice sounded again: "What's the situation with Huang Hansheng now?"
"Huang Hansheng is still being held in the Security Bureau's underground Safe House. The Security Bureau Modu Branch has also sent people to search his home, and even his wife has been restricted from leaving the country," Zhang Yu responded.
Lei Poshan pondered for a moment and said slowly, "So, regardless of how Zhang Min died, Huang Hansheng has already been exposed."
"Not necessarily. From the current perspective, he's only aroused Ye Qingcheng's suspicion, and the evidence shouldn't be sufficient yet. After all, the autopsy report shows a gap of nearly four hours between Third Brother's time of death and his contact with Huang Hansheng. If it were a cyanide overdose, there shouldn't be such a long interval. So, Third Brother likely committed suicide. As for how Huang Hansheng persuaded him, that is indeed a bit baffling," Zhang Yu analyzed.
"Ye Qingcheng is no ordinary officer. Once she becomes suspicious, Huang Hansheng can forget about keeping it hidden," Lei Poshan said.
"Then, Godfather, how about I go and take care of Huang Hansheng? Pull it out by the roots to eliminate future trouble?" Zhang Yu proposed.
"It's not that easy. Setting aside the secret location of the underground Safe House, even if you found it, there's no telling how many guards and firearms are hidden inside. With just you alone, even if you could break in, it would be difficult to take out Huang Hansheng," Lei Poshan dismissed.
"Then what should we do? We can't just watch him get broken by Ye Qingcheng and spill everything we've done over the years, can we?" Zhang Yu asked anxiously.
"Don't worry, there's another way. If we want to make Huang Hansheng shut up, Li Bing is the best choice," Lei Poshan said calmly.
"Li Bing? I'm afraid that won't work. He said Ye Qingcheng has already explicitly warned him that until the investigation is clear, Huang Hansheng absolutely cannot be handed over to the Modu Branch," Zhang Yu said worriedly.
"If even you can see that the autopsy report doesn't match the facts, do you think the leaders of the Security Bureau General Bureau can't see it?" Lei Poshan countered.
"Godfather means for Li Bing to use that as an excuse to go to the General Bureau leaders and demand the prisoner?" Zhang Yu realized suddenly.
"Exactly. A-Yu, you're making progress; you've learned to use your head," Lei Poshan praised.
"Haha, Godfather flatters me. I'll contact him again in a bit," Zhang Yu laughed.
"Furthermore, if he can see Huang Hansheng, have him pass on a message. Tell Deputy Director Huang to watch his mouth, or else he and his son far away in Australia will only be meeting in the afterlife," Lei Poshan said coldly.
A sinister smile appeared on Zhang Yu's face: "Good, I will definitely deliver the words!"
"Be careful yourself in Modu. We've already lost two people; you can't afford to have anything happen to you," Lei Poshan urged.
"Haha, don't worry, Godfather. They can't trap me with just their skills," Zhang Yu said confidently.
"Never underestimate the enemy at any time. Like that Qin Yi from last time, you must be careful. To be able to save Zhang Min from your hands, that kid's strength is definitely more than just the Mingjin Stage," Lei Poshan reminded him.
At the mention of Qin Yi, a look of ruthlessness immediately flashed in Zhang Yu's eyes, and he said deeply, "If I run into that kid again, I'll make sure he dies a miserable death!"
"Enough. Your current task is to lie low and wait for the opportunity. By the way, you mentioned earlier that Ye Qingcheng has started investigating Zhao Lintai?" Lei Poshan asked again.
"Mhm, that's right. Li Bing said that during the meeting, the General Bureau Director mentioned Zhao Lintai to Ye Qingcheng. However, they probably haven't found concrete evidence yet."
Lei Poshan sighed: "It seems the Zhao Family's days are numbered."
"If the Zhao Family falls, won't your subsequent plans be completely disrupted?" Zhang Yu asked with concern.
"No matter. Since ancient times, wealth has always moved people's hearts. Without the Zhao Family, there will be other families. The Zhao Family is merely a chess piece; if it's lost, it's lost," Lei Poshan said indifferently.
"Godfather is wise!" Zhang Yu complimented.
"Alright. Go contact Li Bing. Call me anytime if anything comes up."
"Okay, Godfather." After saying that, Zhang Yu hung up the phone.
At the same moment, Huang Hansheng's wife—Wang Qiong—had just finished packing her luggage and was planning to call a ride-hail car to head to the airport, when unexpectedly, an ill-timed knock sounded at the door.
"Who's coming at this time? Really picked a moment," Wang Qiong's movements paused, her brow furrowed slightly as she muttered to herself. Before she could respond, the door was knocked on urgently again.
Wang Qiong was displeased and raised her voice to shout toward the door, "Stop knocking, I'm coming!"
Wang Qiong first observed the visitor through the peephole on the door.
She first peered at the situation outside through the peephole. She saw four men and one woman standing outside, all dressed in Security Bureau uniforms, which caused a bit of doubt to rise in her heart. Thus, she opened the door, her gaze sweeping over the five people's faces.
Wang Qiong was familiar with most of the officers under her husband, but the people before her were all unfamiliar faces, which made her feel somewhat surprised. She didn't immediately reveal her identity but instead asked with a look of confusion, "Who are you looking for?"
The young male officer leading the five saluted Wang Qiong, then proactively showed his credentials and explained, "Hello, may I ask if you are the wife of Deputy Director Huang Hansheng?"
Hearing this, Wang Qiong's heart suddenly tightened, and an ominous premonition surged within her. She nodded somewhat nervously, her voice trembling slightly: "Yes, I am his wife. Did something happen to my Old Huang?"
"Madam Huang, please don't worry yet, Deputy Director Huang is fine," the male officer said, showing her a document stamped with a red seal. "This is a search warrant. We are here to search under orders; please cooperate."
After speaking, the male officer gestured for the others to enter the house.
Wang Qiong was momentarily dazed; she had never experienced such a scene and didn't react for a while. By the time she came to her senses, the five people were already preparing to split up and act.
Seeing this, Wang Qiong hurriedly rushed forward, spreading her arms to block the five people, and said angrily, "On what grounds are you searching my home? My Old Huang is the Deputy Director of the Security Bureau! He was just arranged to go on a mission last night, and you come here with such a grand search; this is simply lawless!"
The male officer gently adjusted the body camera on his chest and explained politely to Wang Qiong, "Madam Huang, I just showed you the search warrant. We are also acting on orders; please cooperate."
"Get lost! You want to search my home with a scrap of paper? On what grounds! I'm calling Old Huang right now!" Wang Qiong said, taking out her phone to dial Huang Hansheng's number.
However, the call did not connect, and only a cold prompt sounded: "The number you have dialed is powered off, please redial later..."
"Why is it powered off!" Wang Qiong glared at the male officer and said irritably, "I'll call your Director!"
At this moment, Li Bing was sitting in the command room, remotely controlling the entire situation. Seeing this, his face darkened, he leaned forward, decisively pressed the call button on the desk, and said deeply, "Little Wu, give her the headset."
The male officer immediately responded, "Yes, Director!" Then, he handed the headset toward Wang Qiong and said politely, "Madam Huang, you don't need to call; our Director Li wants to speak with you directly."
Wang Qiong was anxiously flipping through her phone for the Director's number. Hearing this, she uneasily took the headset and quickly stuffed it into her ear.
Immediately after, Li Bing's voice came through the headset: "Sister-in-law, it's Li Bing."
Upon hearing this, Wang Qiong responded excitedly, "Director Li, what exactly happened to our Old Huang? Didn't he go on a mission? Why is there a sudden search of the house? What is going on?"
Li Bing tried his best to keep his tone calm as he explained, "Sister-in-law, Old Huang himself is fine, you can rest assured. However, the organization needs to verify some situations. You are also aware of the Security Bureau's regulations; there are some details I cannot reveal too much to you. As Family, you cannot have a resistant attitude at this time; you must cooperate well with our work. That is what's best for Old Huang. Sister-in-law, don't you agree?"
Hearing Director Li's words, Wang Qiong also roughly guessed what had happened. Thus, she stopped obstructing, nodded silently, and returned the headset to the male officer.
The male officer took the headset and put it on. Director Li then sternly instructed, "Little Wu, you guys begin. Be careful to maintain a kind attitude; do not cause trouble for Madam Huang."
"Yes," the male officer replied. Then, he motioned for the others to start their respective actions, while simultaneously giving a look to the female officer who came along, signaling her to stay and keep watch over Wang Qiong.
The female officer understood and hurriedly stepped forward to support Wang Qiong, saying in a very gentle voice, "Madam Huang, let's go sit in the living room for a while and rest."
Wang Qiong looked at the female officer with somewhat vacant eyes. She didn't say much, only nodded woodenly and sat down on the living room sofa with her.
At this time, the female officer's gaze inadvertently brushed past the suitcase sitting in the corner of the living room. She cleared her throat and asked concernly, "Madam Huang, are you preparing to go out?"
Wang Qiong's mind was currently in a mess, and she hadn't listened to the female officer's words at all. her thoughts were immersed in speculating what exactly went wrong with her husband and whether he had made some mistake.
Last night, after Old Huang took a phone call, he left home in a hurry and told her he had a mission and was going on a business trip, telling her to go to Australia to find their son. Could it be that something really went wrong with Old Huang?
Seeing that Wang Qiong didn't respond, the female officer leaned in a bit closer, gently placing her hand on the back of Wang Qiong's, and said softly, "Madam Huang, are you alright?"
The female officer's action brought Wang Qiong back to her senses instantly. She looked at the female officer with some confusion and asked, "Ah? What did you say? Sorry, I was zoning out just now."
"Oh, it's nothing. I just saw a suitcase by the door and was curious if you were planning to go on a long trip," the female officer explained again.
Wang Qiong took a deep breath, nodded, and responded, "Mhm, I was originally planning to fly to Australia to find my son. Now it seems I can't leave. Oh, right, I haven't canceled the plane ticket yet. I need to do it quickly, or it'll be a waste." As she spoke, Wang Qiong took out her phone, opened the booking software, and after some operations, canceled the ticket.
"Sigh, they deducted so much money..." Wang Qiong couldn't help but remark as she looked at the 30% cancellation fee that had been deducted.
The female officer glanced at Wang Qiong's phone screen and happened to see a text message confirming the successful refund, showing a deduction of over 1,500.
She thought to herself: only 1,500 or so; for the wife of a Deputy Director, this shouldn't be much. Why would she care so much? Could she be intentionally putting on a show in front of me?
Although these officers were ordered to search Huang Hansheng's residence, they did not know specifically what crime Huang Hansheng had committed. Instinctively, they assumed it was a case of economic corruption.
Thinking this way, the female officer turned her gaze back to the suitcase. She spoke again, asking, "Madam Huang, can you open that suitcase and let me take a look?"
Wang Qiong's brow furrowed slightly. She looked at the suitcase, then back at the female officer, and asked with some confusion, "There's nothing inside, just some of my changes of clothes. Do you need to see that too?"
The female officer nodded, smiled awkwardly, and explained, "Madam Huang, I'm sorry, but according to our working principles, we indeed need to check. Please help us by opening it."
"Sigh," Wang Qiong sighed, stood up, pulled the suitcase over, and slowly opened it in front of the female officer. "Then look; it's all just some changes of clothes, nothing else."
The female officer nodded, put on gloves, and squatted down to begin a careful inspection. The changes of clothes were all normal, but when she reached her hand into the lining of the suitcase, she felt something unusual.
