300: Chapter 300 Huang Hansheng's Memories (Part 1)
At this moment, Zhang Min leaned forward slightly, her face filled with anticipation. She looked up at Ye Qingcheng and asked softly, "Captain Ye, I've already confessed everything you wanted to know. Could you give me a hint about what punishment I'll face later?"
Ye Qingcheng didn't answer immediately. Instead, she gently put away the recording pen and slowly stood up. She gave Zhang Min a slight smile, one that carried a hint of gentleness and tolerance. "Zhang Min, first, I want to thank you for your cooperation. But as for how you'll be punished, I still need to report to my superiors. However, I have an idea, and I'm not sure if you'd be willing to cooperate."
Zhang Min was also a pitiful person, and Ye Qingcheng felt she should be given a chance to redeem herself through service.
Zhang Min shifted her handcuffed and shackled limbs, the sound of metal clashing ringing out clearly in the quiet room. She gave a helpless smile, a flash of bitterness in her eyes that was tempered by a sense of composure. "Captain Ye, I'm already your prisoner. What choice do I have? Just say the word. As long as I can do it, I'll cooperate fully!" She looked up, her eyes filled with anticipation as she waited for Ye Qingcheng's next words.
Ye Qingcheng nodded. "Alright. However, to implement the next step of the plan, we'll need another person's cooperation. For now, just rest here in peace. If you need anything, just ask. There are guards on duty outside twenty-four hours a day."
After speaking, Ye Qingcheng turned to leave the confinement room. But just then, Zhang Min's voice rang out from behind her once more: "Captain Ye, why... why are you willing to help me?"
Ye Qingcheng stopped and turned slightly, a deep meaning flashing in her eyes. "Perhaps it's because you haven't killed any Dragon Kingdom people."
With that, Ye Qingcheng stopped lingering and walked out of the confinement room. As she passed the guard, she instructed, "Go and remove her handcuffs and shackles."
"Captain Ye, thank you!" Zhang Min's voice came from inside the confinement room, tinged with a sob, as if emotions suppressed for a long time were finally being released.
Ye Qingcheng didn't look back, only saying flatly, "No need to thank me. Just remember what you just said."
Afterward, Ye Qingcheng paced over to the adjacent confinement room where Chen Mo was being held. Through the small window in the door, she looked at Chen Mo lying on the bed.
Although Chen Mo's face was still a bit pale, his breathing was steady; he seemed to be in a deep sleep.
Ye Qingcheng breathed a slight sigh of relief and turned to the guard on duty. "How has he been these past two days? How is his recovery going?"
The guard saluted and replied, "Captain Ye, the military doctor has seen him and changed his dressings. He said he should be fully recovered in another two weeks."
Ye Qingcheng nodded. "Mhm, that's good. Once he wakes up, go ahead and remove his handcuffs."
"Yes, Ma'am!"
After settling the matters regarding Chen Mo and Zhang Min, Ye Qingcheng went down to the first floor. She reached out and gently patted Han Hao, who was fast asleep at the monitoring desk. Han Hao's head was bowed, his breathing even; he seemed to be completely exhausted.
Han Hao blearily opened his sleepy eyes. Seeing Ye Qingcheng standing in front of him, he woke up instantly, jumping to his feet with a start. An embarrassed smile appeared on his face. "Uh, sorry Captain Ye, I fell asleep..."
Ye Qingcheng smiled slightly. Instead of scolding him, she asked with concern, "It's fine. There's a lounge right next door. If you're tired, why didn't you go back to your room to sleep?"
Han Hao scratched his head, his eyes darting away slightly. "It's nothing, Captain Ye. I was afraid of missing something important. By the way, I went through Huang Hansheng's movements from last night frame by frame. The identity of the person who provided him with the lethal injection drugs has been confirmed."
Ye Qingcheng nodded, a hint of approval in her eyes. "Who is it?"
Han Hao pulled a small notebook from his pocket, flipped to a page, and said seriously, "It's a veterinarian from a pet hospital. I've pulled the records for that hospital, and for now, it doesn't seem to have any connection to the Hongmen."
Ye Qingcheng frowned slightly. After a moment's thought, she asked, "What's the relationship between that veterinarian and Huang Hansheng?"
"Looking at the pet hospital's transaction history, Huang Hansheng likely owned a dog that was treated there for a while. As for any other connections, there are no leads at the moment."
Ye Qingcheng nodded encouragingly. "Mhm. Good job. Thank you for your hard work."
Han Hao adjusted his glasses and waved his hand. "It was nothing; it's what I should do. So, do we need to send someone to take the veterinarian into custody?"
Ye Qingcheng thought for a bit and shook her head. "Not for now. Just keep an eye on him."
"Alright." Han Hao nodded and added, "Also, there's one more thing. Huang Hansheng's wife has a flight at ten o'clock this morning. Should we arrange for someone to intercept her?"
Ye Qingcheng narrowed her eyes slightly, a cold glint appearing in them. "There's still time. Work a bit longer and keep an eye on his wife. I'll go meet with Huang Hansheng first and see how things stand."
"Yes, Ma'am!" After speaking, Han Hao sat back down in front of the monitoring screens and pulled up the surveillance footage from around Huang Hansheng's residential complex.
Afterward, Ye Qingcheng turned and walked toward the confinement room where Huang Hansheng was being held.
A moment later, the door to the confinement room was pulled open from the outside. Huang Hansheng instantly jumped up from the iron bed, looking at the newcomer with nervous eyes filled with panic and unease.
Ye Qingcheng walked in slowly with her hands behind her back, a calm and unhurried smile on her face. She walked up to the interrogation table, casually placed the recording pen on it, and looked at Huang Hansheng. She said in a calm voice, "Deputy Director Huang, after cooling off for a night, you should have remembered something by now. Is there anything you'd like to talk to me about?"
While Ye Qingcheng had spent the night talking with Zhang Min, Huang Hansheng hadn't closed his eyes all night either. At this moment, he sat on the iron bed in the confinement room with messy hair and eyes full of exhaustion and anxiety, completely stripped of his usual dignity and confidence as a deputy director.
Huang Hansheng took a deep breath, trying to calm himself, but the heaving of his chest betrayed his nervousness. He let out a long sigh and looked up at Ye Qingcheng with a look that was almost pleading. "Captain Ye, how is my wife doing now? She doesn't know anything about my affairs. Please, for the sake of us being colleagues, show her some mercy."
"Don't worry, your wife doesn't know about your situation yet. I've only arranged for people to 'protect' her in secret and haven't taken any direct action against her." She raised her wrist, checked the time, and continued, "It's six in the morning now. Your wife's flight is at ten, so there are still four hours left. If you refuse to cooperate, I'll bring her back before she boards the plane. By then, your actions won't be a secret anymore. Think it over carefully."
Hearing this, Huang Hansheng nodded almost without hesitation and replied, "Thank you, thank you, Captain Ye! I've actually made up my mind. I'll confess everything!"
Ye Qingcheng nodded slightly, a look of satisfaction appearing on her face. She picked up the recording pen, gently pressed the switch, and said with a hint of seriousness, "Good, then let's hear it! Start from how you first met Boss Lei of the Hongmen."
