158: Chapter 158: Brother Dao is killed, Chen Mo is arrested!
Qin Yi's figure had just disappeared into the depths of the woods when four police cars followed closely behind him, roaring to a halt and surrounding the two-story building.
The car doors opened in unison, and more than a dozen uniformed and fully armed police officers quickly exited as if facing a formidable enemy. Leading them was Sun Yizhong, the one who had responded to the call at the Nightlife Bar that night.
Sun Yizhong first walked over to the hoodlum who had been thrown from the second floor, squatting down to examine him closely. After confirming that the hoodlum had completely stopped breathing, he stood up, waved his hand, and called out to the other officers, "Go upstairs, move fast!"
The group entered in single file and rushed to the second floor. In the hallway, three hoodlums lay scattered on the ground, groaning in pain. Seeing that they were still struggling despite their pathetic state, Sun Yizhong frowned and decisively ordered, "Handcuff them all and take them away!"
Then, he turned without hesitation and led the charge into the innermost room.
As soon as he entered, Sun Yizhong's gaze quickly swept across the room, finally landing on Chen Mo, who was unconscious on the floor with blood still seeping from his shoulder.
"It's him!" Sun Yizhong thought to himself with secret delight. The suspect who had escaped in the surveillance footage last night was now lying right before his eyes. He immediately picked up his radio and reported this important development to his superiors, "Reporting! Suspect Chen Mo has been found!"
"Hehe, I'm going to get the credit this time..." Thinking this, he immediately stepped forward to check on Chen Mo's condition.
To his surprise, at that moment, the previously unconscious Chen Mo suddenly opened his eyes. With lightning speed, he instantly locked onto Sun Yizhong's throat, snatched the service pistol from his hand, and pressed the barrel against Sun Yizhong's head.
"Captain!" The other police officers were shocked and raised their guns at Chen Mo. They shouted nervously, "You're surrounded! Drop your weapon immediately!"
Chen Mo remained completely unmoved. He let out a cold laugh, his facial muscles contorting with rage. He pressed the gun tightly against Sun Yizhong's head and roared, "If you don't want him to die, put your guns down!"
"Buddy, can we calm down a bit?" To be honest, Sun Yizhong was also panicking inside, but as an experienced police officer, he still wore a conciliatory smile. He raised his hand to pat the hand Chen Mo had locked around his throat and continued, "Buddy, your situation is just a fight, it's no big deal. Come back with us, explain everything, and that'll be it. Why throw your life away for someone like Brother Dao? It's not worth it."
However, Chen Mo acted as if he hadn't heard a thing. He stayed close to Sun Yizhong's body and slowly stood up from the floor. Out of the corner of his eye, he glanced out the window and saw Brother Dao lying face-up beneath it. A glint of cunning and ruthlessness flashed in his eyes as he cursed inwardly, "Damn it, even if I die, I'm taking you with me first!"
In the blink of an eye, Chen Mo suddenly pushed Sun Yizhong away, and with a flash of movement, he flipped out of the window. The moment he hit the ground, he didn't pause for a second, quickly aiming at Brother Dao lying on the ground and pulling the trigger without hesitation.
"Bang—" A gunshot rang out, and a bloody hole appeared in Brother Dao's head. Then, Chen Mo endured the pain in his shoulder and quickly fled toward the woods.
Everything happened too fast and too suddenly. By the time everyone reacted, they had already heard the gunshot from outside. They rushed to the window, only to see Chen Mo's receding back and Brother Dao lying motionless on the ground.
Qin Yi, who had already run far away, heard the gunshot and stopped abruptly. He turned his head and stared at the two-story building with a face full of confusion.
He saw muzzle flashes at the second-floor window. After several "bang-bang-bang" gunshots, several uniformed police officers jumped nimbly from the window.
Qin Yi's eyes widened, his heart filled with suspicion and uncertainty. "Holy crap, what's going on!" Chen Mo's figure flashed through his mind. "Could it be that Chen Mo woke up again? That guy is really a cockroach that won't die!" Thinking this, he frowned, his eyes revealing a hint of worry and complexity.
Meanwhile, deep in the woods, Chen Mo was stumbling forward. The fierce battle with Qin Yi, combined with the gunshot wound Qin Yi had inflicted, had depleted his stamina significantly. He could no longer perform his pride and joy, the 'Lost Ghost Steps' life-saving technique. He felt the police closing in behind him, and his heart was filled with anxiety.
Chen Mo fired backward in a panic as he ran, trying to stop the police pursuit. However, his aim was terrible at this point. By the time he had emptied his magazine, he hadn't injured a single officer; the bullets had all hit tree trunks, leaving behind charred marks.
At that moment, a deafening gunshot came from behind. Chen Mo felt a sharp pain in his right leg, stumbled, and fell to his knees with a thud. Then, four or five armed police officers cautiously surrounded him with their guns drawn.
Sun Yizhong walked forward angrily and gave Chen Mo a hard kick, flipping him over. He quickly snatched the gun from Chen Mo's hand and cursed resentfully, "You bastard, do you even know how to shoot? You emptied a whole magazine and missed everything!" With that, he holstered the gun and waved to the others, "Handcuff him and take him away!"
Then, Sun Yizhong reported the situation to his superiors via radio: "Reporting! Suspect Chen Mo has been captured. Additionally, the target person, Brother Dao, was shot dead by Chen Mo. Another person was already dead before we arrived, and three others are seriously injured."
There was a moment of silence over the radio, followed by a deep, powerful voice: "Are any of our people injured?"
"Reporting, Leader, no!" Sun Yizhong answered loudly.
"Good, thank you for your hard work. The ambulance will be here soon," the leader's voice came, sounding somewhat relieved.
"Yes, Leader." Sun Yizhong paused and continued with some embarrassment, "Leader, I need to write a self-reflection. If I hadn't been careless just now, Chen Mo wouldn't have taken my gun, and Brother Dao might not have died..."
"Alright, we'll talk about the self-reflection when you get back! Clear the scene first and see if there's any important physical evidence." The leader interrupted his self-reproach and gave clear instructions.
"Yes! Leader," Sun Yizhong replied, then turned and quickly headed back.

In a meeting room of the Modu Public Security Bureau, the atmosphere was solemn. Shen Jianan's father, Director Shen Zhendong, was currently frowning. Cao Zhen, the director of the Jingan Branch, sat to one side with a solemn expression, ready to report the latest progress at any time. Opposite him sat a woman with a serious face and a cold aura. She had ear-length short hair and was wearing a National Security uniform, which was different from the other two, making her look valiant and heroic.
Cao Zhen stood up and cleared his throat, about to begin his report, but was interrupted by Shen Zhendong raising his hand: "Director Cao, don't be nervous. Sit down and take your time. We're all on the same side here, just relax."
Cao Zhen nodded and sat back down, then reported the details of the arrest operation. At the end, he couldn't help but sigh, "Sigh, it's just a pity that the target person, Brother Dao, is dead. The lead on the Underground Casino and the Underground Bank has been cut off after all."
