62: Chapter 62 The Troublesome Matters of the Si Family's Eldest Daughter

Meanwhile, inside the Supreme VIP box of Yaoye Club, Si Hongfei was led in by a waiter.

"Young Miss, you were looking for me." Si Hongfei was still dressed in the same outfit as yesterday—a vintage pompadour, a black suit, a white shirt, a black tie, and leather shoes polished to a high shine.

He spoke respectfully to Si Yao, who was currently playing dice with Xiao Wen, though there was a slight gravity in his expression, and he seemed somewhat helpless regarding Si Yao's punk-style attire.

Si Yao turned around, her Face full of smiles as she looked at Si Hongfei and said with a laugh, "A-Fei, you're here. Come, sit down. What would you like to drink?"

Si Hongfei sat down on the diagonal sofa as requested and waved his hand in refusal. "No, thank you. I wonder what business the Young Miss has with me?"

Si Yao knew Si Hongfei didn't like drinking, so she didn't push him. She glanced at Xing Zhenkun and then said, "Brother Kun, show A-Fei that video on your phone."

"Sure thing," Xing Zhenkun said, unlocking his phone and finding the video. He then moved closer to Si Hongfei and handed him the phone. "Brother Fei, here."

Si Hongfei didn't seem to like being too close to others; he instinctively shifted slightly to the side. Once the distance was adjusted to a comfortable level, he reached out to take the phone, focused his gaze on the screen, and began to watch intently.

...

"This person... I think I've seen him before..." A moment later, Si Hongfei finished the video and spoke with a furrowed brow, a flicker of doubt in his eyes.

"Yes, that man is Qin Yi. He had dinner at the Sinan Feast last night. There was a verbal altercation between some guests there last night, and you intervened, so you probably crossed paths with him once." Si Yao thought Si Hongfei was referring to Qin Yi and responded casually, though her eyes held a hint of amusement.

To her surprise, Si Hongfei shook his head, refuting her guess. "I'm not talking about him. I mean the person he sent flying. I think he's called A-Qiang." His fingers lightly tapped the sofa's armrest as if he were recalling something.

"Oh?" Xing Zhenkun immediately became interested, leaning forward and asking impatiently, "Does this A-Qiang have some history with you, Brother Fei?"

Si Hongfei shook his head. "Not much history. I encountered him at the boxing gym before and we sparred."

"Is that so? How's his skill?" Xing Zhenkun continued to press, his eyes gleaming with curiosity.

Si Hongfei shook his head and evaluated, "Average. He's just barely touched the threshold of Clear Strength. He's considered an expert among ordinary people." His tone carried a hint of disdain, as if he didn't think much of A-Qiang's strength.

"Aiyoh, in that case, being able to send this guy flying, Young Master Qin really is quite formidable," Xing Zhenkun remarked, becoming even more curious about Qin Yi's martial arts skills.

"Hmm, the man who sent him flying is named Qin Yi? He did indeed eat at the Sinan Feast last night." Si Hongfei recalled for a moment, then turned to Si Yao and continued, "Did Young Miss call me here because of this Qin Yi?"

"Yes, Brother Kun wanted you to help find out where these thugs operate and whose men they are. However, it seems there's no need to ask anyone else now." Si Yao pointed a finger at Xing Zhenkun as she spoke to Si Hongfei.

Si Hongfei looked at Xing Zhenkun and nodded in response. "This A-Qiang should be one of Brother Dao's men. At the boxing gym, I heard him take a call from someone called Brother Dao."

"Brother Dao? Where does he operate?" Xing Zhenkun asked curiously.

"I've heard of Brother Dao's name, but I haven't seen the man himself. I heard he's a famous local snake in Shanghai, with a group of lackeys under him. He runs shady businesses like underground casinos, nightclubs, and high-interest loans. This A-Qiang should be a thug under him," Si Hongfei said flatly, without any emotion.

"A gangster... If this person is so famous, logically he should be on the police's radar. Why don't the police arrest him?" Si Yao asked with some curiosity.

Xing Zhenkun gave a faint smile and explained, "There must be someone backing him up. To dare run these shady businesses in our Dragon Country without someone supporting him from behind, that would be like an old man eating arsenic because he's tired of living."

Si Hongfei remained noncommittal toward Xing Zhenkun's words. Si Yao shrugged and added, "True. Now that you know the background of these thugs, Brother Kun, what happens next has nothing to do with me."

Xing Zhenkun cupped his fists toward Si Hongfei and complimented, "Thanks, Brother Fei!"

Si Hongfei nodded slightly and stood up, saying to Si Yao, "Young Miss, if there's nothing else, I'll be heading back."

Si Yao nodded without saying much. As Si Hongfei was about to turn and leave, he spoke up hesitantly, "Young Miss, the Old Master called me and told me to urge you to return. He said the Young Master of the Zhao Family of the Capital is going to the Southwest next week and hopes you can go back to meet him then."

Upon hearing this, Si Yao's expression turned cold, and she slammed the dice cup heavily onto the table. "What! If I don't go back, is he going to have you tie me up and take me back?"

Si Hongfei quickly lowered his head and explained, "Hongfei wouldn't dare. It's just that the Zhao Family of the Capital and our Southwest Si Family have always had a good relationship. Besides, Young Miss, you were betrothed to the Zhao Family's Young Master by the Old Master before you were even born. I'm afraid this meeting is unavoidable..."

Si Yao snapped, "Get out! What Zhao Family of the Capital? Whoever wants to see that playboy from the Zhao family can see him, but I won't! Either you knock me out and tie me up to take me back, or forget it!"

Si Hongfei sighed and replied, "Young Miss, regarding this matter, I think you should call the Old Master and tell him yourself. Hongfei will take his leave now." After saying that, Si Hongfei turned and left the box.

After Si Hongfei left, Xing Zhenkun blinked awkwardly and signaled with his eyes to Xiao Wen, who was beside Si Yao, as if saying: "Aren't you her woman? Hurry up and comfort her."

Xiao Wen understood and immediately leaned close to Si Yao, whispering, "Yaoyao, don't be angry anymore. Let's keep playing the dice guessing game..."

"I'm not playing anymore! I'm tired." Si Yao said, standing up. She looked at Xing Zhenkun with a few hints of helplessness in her eyes. "Brother Kun, play by yourself. I'm leaving. Remember, if that Qin Yi returns to Shanghai, you have to notify me immediately."

Xing Zhenkun nodded with a smile and stood up to personally see Si Yao and Xiao Wen out of the box. After watching them leave, Xing Zhenkun called a waiter back in and instructed, "Once your boss has left, arrange for two hostesses to come and drink with me!"

The male waiter gave a knowing smile and replied, "Alright, Brother Kun. Don't worry, I'll make sure everything is arranged perfectly for you."

After seeing Si Yao off, Xing Zhenkun returned to the box, pondered for a while, and then dialed Shen Jianan's number.

...

"Hello, Brother Kun, why did you think of calling me today?" Shen Jianan's voice came through the phone with a hint of banter.

"Haha, Jianan, we're practically siblings from different parents. It's only natural for me, as an older brother, to call my sister, isn't it?" Xing Zhenkun replied with a laugh, though he felt a bit nervous. After all, he really did have business with Shen Jianan this time.

"Tch, as if. You never visit unless you have a reason. Speak up, what's the matter?" Shen Jianan also responded with a laugh.

"Hehe, I indeed have something I want to chat with you about. Are you free now? Can I treat you to a late-night snack?" Xing Zhenkun said, still smiling.

"Forget the snack, I'm busy right now," Shen Jianan said, her voice sounding somewhat helpless and tired.

"Uh, what time is it? Why are you still working overtime? You're a security captain, how are you busier than the bureau chief? What are you busy with?" Xing Zhenkun asked with concern.

"Sigh, I can't help it. You think being a security captain is easy? I have to lead by example and be at the forefront of everything. Alright, forget the snack. If there's something, just say it over the phone," Shen Jianan replied with a sigh.

"Fine. It's like this—Uncle Shen actually called me. He's very concerned about your marriage and wants me to introduce someone to you," Xing Zhenkun replied teasingly.

Hearing this, Shen Jianan couldn't help but laugh. "What? You're introducing someone to me? Heh..."

Xing Zhenkun feigned dissatisfaction. "Hey, what's that 'heh' supposed to mean? What's wrong with me introducing someone to you? I'm telling you, the people I know are all wealthy and have status..."

Shen Jianan curled her lip and responded with complete disdain, "Yes... wealthy, powerful... including you, if we count them one by one, is there a single one who isn't a flirt? What's with Old Shen, letting you introduce someone to me? Isn't that pushing me into a fire pit? I'll go find him later!"

"Hey, I don't like hearing that. How can introducing someone to my own sister be pushing her into a fire pit? Besides, not everyone I know is a playboy..." Xing Zhenkun defended himself.

Shen Jianan was a bit impatient. "Tch, I'd be crazy to believe you! Do you have anything else? If not, I'm hanging up!"

"Wait, don't. I actually have something to report to Officer Shen!" Xing Zhenkun suddenly replied in a serious tone.

"Fine! Go ahead, what else is there?" Shen Jianan pressed.

Xing Zhenkun organized his thoughts and asked, "Jianan, it's like this. Did you handle a conflict yesterday? At the International Finance Center..."

"Uh, Brother Kun even knows about that? Your information is quite fast." Shen Jianan pondered for a moment and then asked, "Uncle Shen told you, didn't he?"

"Haha, don't get the wrong idea. It has nothing to do with Uncle Shen. It's like this: among the people you brought back to the station yesterday was an employee of my car dealership. That Xu Qian." Xing Zhenkun immediately started explaining, worried that Shen Jianan would go and confront Uncle Shen.

"Oh? That Xu Qian is an employee of your car dealership?" Shen Jianan naturally knew about Xu Qian's workplace; she was just pretending not to know with Xing Zhenkun.

"Yeah, don't tell me you guys didn't even check that? That's a lapse in your work," Xing Zhenkun teased with feigned ease.

Shen Jianan was secretly amused but said, "Indeed! I'll have to give those boys under me a good talking-to later. Even if the other party is the victim, they can't skip investigating their identity and background!"

Xing Zhenkun laughed. "Haha, you should be a bit more magnanimous toward your subordinates. Just a few scoldings to get the point across is enough. It's like this: Xu Qian told me about what happened yesterday, and I'm very angry. Moreover, the client she was accompanying yesterday is a major client of our dealership, so I asked a few more questions. That Young Master Qin said he has a suspicion—those thugs last night might have been instructed by someone. It's definitely not as simple as just picking a fight."

Hearing this, Shen Jianan's brow furrowed slightly. "Oh? Is that so? Then why didn't he say so when he was making his statement last night?"

Xing Zhenkun explained, "Hehe, isn't that because there was no solid evidence? Without proof, wouldn't he be slapped with a defamation charge?"

"Does he distrust us police that much?" Shen Jianan was somewhat dissatisfied. Her mind recalled Qin Yi's attitude toward her last night, and for some reason, she felt a slight sense of disappointment.

"Aiyoh, Young Master Qin is so rich, he's definitely worried about public opinion and the impact. He only told me about this because I kept questioning him," Xing Zhenkun continued to explain for Qin Yi.

Shen Jianan pressed, "Then tell me, who does he suspect?"

Xing Zhenkun replied, "He suspects one of his university classmates named Wang Hao. They ran into each other at the Sinan Feast last night, and it seems there was some verbal altercation."

Shen Jianan sounded a bit disdainful upon hearing this. "Just that? Just because of a verbal altercation, it's worth finding thugs to beat someone up?"

"Heh, they're students. Which of them isn't young and hot-headed? It's understandable if someone wants to reclaim their Face because they couldn't swallow their pride for a moment."

Shen Jianan nodded. "Are there any other leads?"

Xing Zhenkun thought for a moment. "How's the interrogation of those thugs going? Any progress?"

Shen Jianan shook her head. "The case details are confidential. I can't tell you."

Xing Zhenkun was a bit helpless. "Fine, I know you have principles. However, I do have a lead. I'm not too sure about those five thugs, but the leader should be called A-Qiang, and I heard he's one of Brother Dao's men."

As soon as Shen Jianan heard the name Brother Dao, she immediately became alert. "Brother Dao? Xing Zhenkun, how do you know Brother Dao?"

"Hey, Jianan, don't misunderstand! I also heard it from someone else. I'm a legitimate businessman, how would I know any Brother Dao?"

Shen Jianan breathed a sigh of relief. "You'd better not know him! If I find out you're mixing with those people, watch out, I'll tell your mother!"

Xing Zhenkun laughed. "Alright, alright, I shouldn't have called you. Fine, that's all I called for. You get busy, I'm hanging up."

Shen Jianan pressed, "Wait, that's it? What then?"

Xing Zhenkun played dumb. "What 'what then'?"

Shen Jianan continued to question, "A-Qiang is Brother Dao's man. What's the relationship between Brother Dao and that Wang Hao? And what's Wang Hao's background?"

Xing Zhenkun chuckled. "How would I know? Are you the police or am I? You just follow this lead and investigate. Oh right, this Wang Hao—I heard from Young Master Qin that his family is quite wealthy. He seems to be the Young Master of Hongtai Construction. If you're going to investigate him, you'd better be careful."

Hearing this, a flash of determination appeared in Shen Jianan's eyes. "Tch, everyone is equal before the law! As long as a crime has been committed, I don't care about his background!"

Xing Zhenkun laughed. "Haha, alright then. I wish Officer Shen success in handling the case. Hanging up now."

After hanging up, Xing Zhenkun took a sip of his whiskey on the rocks with a beaming smile, thinking to himself: This girl is always so hardworking, how is she ever going to find a partner in the future?

Just then, the waiter walked in with several beautiful women. Xing Zhenkun's eyes immediately lit up, as if he had already forgotten all about Qin Yi's business.
