325: Chapter 325 Zhang Yu's Location Exposed, Qin Yi Steps In to Assist Again (Part 2)
The soft sound of a zipper being pulled came from the back row, followed by Shen Jianan's voice drifting over: "I'm changed."
Qin Yi gave a soft "Mm." He lightly adjusted the rearview mirror with his fingertip until he could clearly see the back row before asking, "Where is your Captain Ye now?"
"According to the plan, Sister Qingcheng should have arrived at the airport." Shen Jianan's voice sounded a bit muffled. She paused and sighed. "I really didn't expect Hongmen's reach to be so long that they could even corrupt high-level officials in the Security Bureau Modu Branch."
Qin Yi curled his lips into a smirk and shook his head with a light chuckle. "What's so strange about that? This world isn't just black and white. Those people who always talk about 'benevolence and morality' might be hiding all sorts of filth behind their backs."
Shen Jianan wasn't a newcomer to society; she understood these principles. But hearing them from Qin Yi's mouth made her heart itch—especially when she thought about the past misfortunes of Qin Yi's family. Curiosity eventually overrode her reservations.
She leaned forward, her gaze falling on Qin Yi's hand on the steering wheel, and asked softly, "Then are you helping Sister Qingcheng for the sake of justice in your heart, or... do you just want to get revenge on Zhao Lintai?"
Qin Yi caught her in the rearview mirror out of the corner of his eye. Shen Jianan's eyes were filled with curiosity and a touch of stubborn "judgment," like a kitten with its ears perked up. He could even guess that if he said "only for revenge," this girl's favorability toward him would probably drop quite a bit.
He laughed inwardly: Let it drop then. It's better than the favorability being too high and actually getting involved with her; that would make it impossible to Face Ye Ziming in the future.
Withdrawing his gaze, Qin Yi's voice turned a bit colder. "Officer Shen, I'm not a cop. I'm just an ordinary person. Where would I get so much justice? Helping Ye Qingcheng is, for one, to give Ye Ziming some Face, and for another... I really do want to settle scores with Zhao Lintai."
After he spoke, the car fell silent for a few seconds.
Qin Yi waited for the System notification—he was prepared for a "Shen Jianan favorability -5" alert. Instead of the prompt, he heard a phone ringing first.
Shen Jianan suddenly snapped back to reality and pulled out her phone. The name "Han Hao" was flashing on the screen. She picked up and spoke rapidly, "Han Hao? You've arrived? Qin Yi and I are on the way—the navigation says twenty minutes. Don't move recklessly, wait for us to get there!"
Hanging up, she immediately told Qin Yi, "Han Hao has already reached the destination."
"Understood." As soon as Qin Yi finished speaking, he slammed his foot on the accelerator! The engine let out a low roar, and the car lunged forward. He tilted his head and warned, "Hang on tight."
Meanwhile, at Modu International Airport.
Ye Qingcheng had just passed through security, her figure disappearing into the entrance of the waiting hall.
In a nearby corner, two trackers quickly exchanged glances. One stayed outside the hall to watch the entrance, while the other turned and hurried toward the stairwell, his finger already pressing on his phone screen—he needed to report to Li Bing immediately.
In his office, Li Bing's fingers repeatedly rubbed the investigation report on the Huang Hansheng incident, his brow furrowed into a knot. He was currently pondering how to fabricate a story for the General Bureau to smooth over this mess.
The phone on his desk suddenly vibrated. The unfamiliar number on the screen made his gaze sharpen. He immediately stood up, walked to the blinds, and pressed the receiver to his ear, answering in a low voice: "This is Li Bing."
"Director Li, Ye Qingcheng has passed through security! The flight to the capital leaves in half an hour." The voice on the other end was even lower, carrying a hint of eagerness to claim credit.
Li Bing's tense shoulders instantly relaxed halfway, and the heart that had been hanging in his throat finally settled a bit. However, his tone remained stern: "Well done. But don't let your guard down. Keep a close eye on her. Don't withdraw until the plane takes off, understand?"
"Understood! Don't worry, Director Li. My brother is watching the entrance; she can't escape!"
"Fine, report any situation immediately." Li Bing hung up and tapped his fingertips on the windowsill, muttering to himself, "Based on the time, the General Bureau should be coming to hold me accountable soon..."
In the waiting hall, Ye Qingcheng stood leaning against a railing, her sunglasses obscuring most of her Face. Her fingertips swiped quickly across her phone screen as she dialed Xu Anguo's number.
"Qingcheng, how is the situation?" As soon as Xu Anguo's voice came through, Ye Qingcheng spoke softly, her speed steady yet piercing: "Everything is going according to plan. There are two tails behind me, almost certainly Li Bing's people—it's time to give Director Li a 'reassurance pill.'"
"Leave that to me." Xu Anguo paused, then asked, "Is it too risky to only let Qin Yi and the other two go after Zhang Yu?"
A faint smile played on Ye Qingcheng's lips, her voice gaining a hint of playfulness: "Don't worry, Director Xu. That kid Qin Yi is quite uncanny. With him there, protecting Shen Jianan and Han Hao is more than enough. I also want to see just how much ability he's hiding."
"Haha, as long as you're confident! When this is done, I'll credit you all!" Xu Anguo's laughter came through. "I'll call Li Bing now. I won't delay your boarding."
As she hung up, the airport broadcast happened to sound: "The flight to the capital is now boarding. Passengers please proceed to Gate 3..."
Through her sunglasses, Ye Qingcheng caught the two trackers out of the corner of her eye. They were pretending to look at their phones, but their gazes drifted toward her from time to time. Her lips curled slightly as she stepped toward the boarding gate.
The two immediately followed, staring intently at her back. They only dared to breathe a sigh of relief once her figure disappeared into the boarding tunnel.
At almost the same time, the black landline in Li Bing's office suddenly rang—the call from the General Bureau had indeed arrived.
Li Bing snapped upright, took a deep breath to suppress his nervousness, and grabbed the receiver, his tone perfectly respectful: "Director Xu, this is Li Bing."
"Old Li, what kind of game are you playing?" Xu Anguo's voice was unreadable, yet carried a sense of pressure. "Didn't I tell you to cooperate with Little Ye? Why have you pressured her into returning to the capital?"
Li Bing immediately adopted a wronged tone, his voice softening: "Oh, Director Xu, you've really misunderstood me! Even if I had a hundred times more courage, I wouldn't dare provoke that 'Auntie' Ye Qingcheng..."
"Cut the nonsense, get to the point." Xu Anguo interrupted him. "What exactly happened?"
Li Bing had long since prepared his story. He immediately brought up the "investigation results" regarding Huang Hansheng, framing his conflict with Ye Qingcheng entirely as a "misunderstanding," speaking with such emotion as if he were truly the one who had suffered a great grievance.
Xu Anguo listened patiently before feigning contemplation: "So, Zhang Min's death has nothing to do with Huang Hansheng, and she just couldn't think straight?"
"Exactly!" Li Bing hurried to agree, his tone urgent. "I know Comrade Huang Hansheng well; he's just a good old man. Let alone killing someone, he'd even feed a stray cat or dog if he saw one. He's worked for the organization for so many years; even if there's no glory, there's hard work. We can't let an old comrade feel disheartened!"
"Enough, don't plead for him." Xu Anguo's voice turned a few degrees colder. "If a mistake was made, it must be answered for."
Li Bing immediately took the out, adopting a posture of self-reflection: "Yes, yes! Director Xu is right! If a subordinate makes a mistake, I, as the leader, am also responsible. I just hope the organization can be a bit more lenient, considering Huang Hansheng's years of service."
"One thing at a time." Xu Anguo's voice paused before giving the resolution: "Huang Hansheng has reached the age for early retirement. Give him a demerit within the organization and have him submit his early retirement application. As for you, we'll talk after Little Ye's mission in Modu is finished."
As soon as he finished, Xu Anguo's tone suddenly dropped, carrying a warning: "Old Li, you should be clear about who is behind Little Ye. If something goes wrong on your turf, or if this matter isn't handled beautifully, can you bear the consequences?"
Li Bing's heart shivered—of course he knew. Behind Ye Qingcheng was the Ye Family of the Capital. Although Old Man Ye had retired, his influence hadn't diminished in the slightest. If it hadn't been for Hongmen forcing him to protect Huang Hansheng, how would he have dared to oppose Ye Qingcheng?
He quickly pledged his loyalty: "Director Xu, don't worry! I understand! From now on, Captain Ye's mission is the top priority of our Modu Branch. I guarantee she will achieve results!"
"Mm." Xu Anguo's tone softened slightly. "Submit Huang Hansheng's processing report as soon as possible, and we'll consider this matter settled. I have a meeting, so that's all for now."
"Alright, Director Xu. Goodbye!"
Shortly after Li Bing hung up, the two men watching Ye Qingcheng at the airport saw her flight take off and immediately called Li Bing to report that she had left Modu by plane.
At this point, the heart that had been hanging in Li Bing's chest finally settled completely. He swallowed a mouthful of tea, his tense nerves relaxing entirely as he leaned back in his chair and let out a long sigh of relief—this time bomb had finally been sent away for now.
Meanwhile, in a parking lot two kilometers away from Zhang Yu's hiding place in the Eastern Suburbs Port, Qin Yi, Shen Jianan, and Han Hao finally met up.
"Little Han, can you locate Zhang Yu's phone signal?" Shen Jianan got straight to the point as soon as she spoke.
Han Hao frowned and shook his head, his fingertips tapping rapidly on the keyboard: "No, there are no new calls on that number, so I can't get a precise location. But it's certain that he's within this two-kilometer range."
Qin Yi leaned over to glance at the red circled area on the computer screen, thinking to himself: "Two kilometers... maybe I can let the Miniature Bionic Tracker try."
While Shen Jianan and Han Hao were preoccupied discussing the screen, he quietly moved his fingers in his pocket, pulling out the fingernail-sized tracker from the System Space. He silently set the target to the "Zhang Yu" information recorded last night.
However, he wasn't sure—Zhang Yu was clearly wearing a Disguise Mask last night, and it had been 14 hours since their encounter. Whether the tracker could lock on depended entirely on luck.
Sure enough, after the tracker flew out noiselessly, it just circled in the air. A "Target Lost" prompt soon appeared on Qin Yi's phone screen. He sighed inwardly; it seemed this move wouldn't work.
Just as the three were at their wits' end, Han Hao's computer suddenly let out a "Ding!" The originally blurry red halo on the screen began to shrink abruptly. Han Hao sat up straight instantly and shouted excitedly: "It worked! Li Bing called that number again!"
Shen Jianan and Qin Yi immediately crowded around, three pairs of eyes staring intently at the screen. Ten seconds later, the red halo narrowed completely, finally condensing into a blinking red dot. Han Hao pointed at the red dot, his voice trembling: "Located! He's right here!"
Qin Yi caught the latitude and longitude coordinates beneath the red dot and quickly operated his phone to sync the coordinates to the Miniature Bionic Tracker. Receiving the command, the tracker flew toward the target like an arrow from a bow. The real-time footage on his phone also switched, gradually approaching a cluster of low-rise houses.
He was just about to control the tracker to slip into the houses for reconnaissance when Shen Jianan rolled up her sleeves and nimbly hopped into the driver's seat: "Since we've located him, what are we waiting for? Let's go and pin him down first, then call the SWAT team to make the arrest!"
"Wait!" Qin Yi leaned forward from the back row and pressed his hand on her shoulder, his tone grave. "You can't get close. Have you forgotten Zhang Yu's ability? If you get too close, you'll both be suppressed by him."
Shen Jianan's whole body stiffened—the scene of the last attempt to surround Zhang Yu flashed through her mind. So many officers had been suppressed by the opponent's ability to the point they couldn't even move a finger. With just the three of them now, going over recklessly was practically a death sentence.
"But we can't just watch him run away!" She clenched her fists in frustration.
Qin Yi smiled, his tone relaxed yet carrying an unquestionable certainty: "You stay here and notify the SWAT team to come over. I'll go meet him first."
"No way!" Shen Jianan and Han Hao objected in unison. Shen Jianan turned to stare at him: "If we go, we go together. How can we let you take the risk alone?"
Qin Yi was in a bind—he didn't want to reveal too many of his trump cards. More importantly, Zhang Yu was a Peak Anjin expert, while he was only at the Middle Stage of Ming Jin. This was already a challenge across levels; if he brought them along, he'd have to divide his attention to protect them and wouldn't be able to respond with his full strength.
There was no time for further explanation. Qin Yi's gaze sharpened, and he suddenly leaned forward, his right hand forming a blade that struck Han Hao's neck with lightning speed. Han Hao let out a muffled groan and slumped into the passenger seat.
"Qin Yi, you—" Shen Jianan had just reacted and was about to shout when Qin Yi's hand-blade already reached the side of her neck. She didn't even have a chance to resist before her vision went black and she lost consciousness.
"Sorry, this is for your own safety," Qin Yi whispered. He lifted Shen Jianan from the driver's seat and gently placed her in the back row, then adjusted Han Hao into a comfortable position.
After finishing all this, he sat in the driver's seat and slammed the accelerator. The car sped toward the target point, the dust kicked up by the wheels leaving a trail of afterimages in the night.
