113: Chapter 113 Nefermore Academy
He had completely become a Supernatural Being!
Sean could feel that the magic power within his body was now even more formidable.
While Sean was taking a giant leap toward becoming a Transcendental, Dean, the "great contributor," had no idea of the role he had played.
He just asked curiously, "Sean, you said just now that you can handle supernatural matters. What do you use to handle them?"
""
Sean thought for a moment; explaining a title like Transcendental (Undead Type) would be too much trouble.
But saying nothing at all would seem somewhat insincere.
The Winchester brothers had a limitless future ahead of them; it was worth staying on good terms with them.
So he raised his hand, and golden light welled up from his palm. It was very faint, looking like a fire about to go out under the moonlight, yet he said, "With this."
Dean's eyes widened, and Sam's brow furrowed for a moment as he exclaimed, "What is this?"
"Magic power." Sean withdrew the light. "I'm a Warlock."
Dean cried out in surprise, "A Warlock? We've heard of them, but this is the first time we've actually seen one."
Sean gave a small smile. "Well, today you've seen one."
Sam's tone became a bit firmer again. "We'll be keeping an eye on that demon inside you. If it comes out, we'll deal with it."
It wasn't going to escape; it had likely been absorbed completely by the golden book.
However, Sean couldn't explain that clearly, so he just smiled. "Alright."
Dean patted him on the shoulder. "Take care."
He turned and walked toward the door.
Sam followed behind him.
The brothers were only casual acquaintances with Sean, so it really wasn't appropriate to pry further.
Having clarified that he indeed wasn't some demon, they intended to leave.
Sean didn't try to keep them, simply watching as the two walked out of the apartment, their footsteps growing more distant.
Once his perception confirmed the two fellows were indeed far away, he turned and sat back down on the sofa.
He looked down at his hands.
Golden light flowed beneath his skin, very faint, like breathing.
He never would have expected this!
Before starting his job as a teacher, Sean had truly become a Transcendental.
It... gave him a bit more confidence to be a good teacher.
Early the next morning, Sean woke up on the apartment sofa. Sunlight shone through the window, dazzling his eyes.
He sat up and rubbed his face. Golden light flashed beneath his skin for a moment before fading away.
He stood up, washed his face, packed his things, and headed out.
The car was still downstairs, but he didn't plan on driving it this time.
He called a car and went to the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.
The airport wasn't large, and the waiting hall wasn't crowded in the morning.
Sean exchanged his boarding pass, went through security, found his gate, and sat down.
His thoughts suddenly drifted. 'Fortunately, I've only merged into a US TV show world. If it were a US movie world, I'd really be afraid of some student refusing to get on the plane no matter what.'
Shaking his head, Sean gripped the boarding pass in his hand.
Destination: Burlington, Vermont.
He had to fly to Burlington first, then drive to Jericho, which would take less than an hour.
More than three hours later, the plane landed at Burlington Airport.
The air in Vermont was much colder and drier than in New Orleans, smelling of pine and earth.
Sean left the terminal and picked up an SUV from the car rental agency—Black, four-wheel drive.
He got in, started the engine, set the navigation, and drove out of the parking lot.
From Burlington to Jericho, it was less than an hour's drive.
The road grew narrower, and the trees on both sides became denser. Branches and leaves interlaced overhead, and sunlight leaked through the gaps, casting mottled shadows on the ground.
As Sean drove, he went over the information about Nevermore Academy in his mind.
A school for outcasts: Vampires, Werewolves, Sirens, Gorgons, and Wednesday Addams.
He was going there to be a literature teacher, to get close to her and protect her.
As for whether he could enter the school, Sean wasn't too worried.
Presumably, those at the top had already arranged everything.
Then again, although Wednesday was the protagonist of the story, logically speaking, the school was full of outcasts, so there shouldn't be a need for special protection for her.
He didn't know what was so special about this situation.
Jericho was in northern Vermont, near the mountains; it was a small place. There were no skyscrapers or neon lights, just a main street lined with wooden houses—white, with pointed roofs and porches.
The streetlights were old-fashioned, their bulbs a dim yellow, illuminating the empty streets.
Sean parked his car on the side of the road, got out, and took a deep breath. The air was cold and dry, smelling of pine and earth.
He glanced at his phone; it was four in the afternoon.
Nevermore Academy was outside Jericho, nestled against the mountains, occupying a large area of land.
He got back in the car and continued driving.
The road grew narrower and the trees denser. After driving for about ten minutes, an iron gate appeared at the end of the road.
It was Black and very tall, engraved with patterns that he couldn't quite decipher.
Beside the iron gate was a stone monument engraved with "Nevermore Academy."
The gate was open, with no guards or cameras.
Sean drove inside.
The driveway was long, and the trees on both sides were even taller, like two walls.
At the end of the driveway was a massive building—Gothic style, with pointed roofs and stone exterior walls. The windows were stained glass, emitting a warm yellow light.
In front of the building was a lawn, neatly trimmed. A few people were standing on the lawn chatting; hearing the sound of the car, they turned their heads.
Sean turned off the engine and got out. He stood by the car, looking at the building and the people.
Those people were also looking at him, their eyes full of curiosity.
A woman walked out of the building.
She didn't look too old, but her hair was completely white, pulled back into a bun without a single strand out of place.
She wore a dark long dress with a shawl draped over it. Her gait was slow, but every step was steady.
She walked up to Sean and looked up at him.
Although she was a head shorter than Sean, her aura made it seem as if she were the one looking down from above.
"Mr. Black." Her voice wasn't loud, but it was very clear. "I am Principal Larissa Weems, the Principal of Nevermore Academy. Welcome."
Sean reached out his hand. "Sean Black."
Principal Larissa Weems shook his hand.
Her hand was very thin and cold, the joints distinct. Her grip was light but lasted for a long time.
Then she looked deeply at Sean and said, "Your office is on the second floor of the teaching building, in the Literature Department. Your dormitory is in the faculty building, third floor, Room 302. The keys are on the office desk."
She released his hand and paused. "The students have just finished classes. You can familiarize yourself with the campus tonight and officially begin tomorrow."
Just as expected!
Someone inside the academy had already settled his status as a teacher.
Sean didn't ask any questions and simply nodded. "Alright."
Principal Larissa Weems glanced at him, inwardly a bit surprised by Sean's composure, but she didn't show it on her face. She turned and walked back into the building...
