41: Chapter 41 Am I a Chaotic Being?
Shaun followed Cordelia into the hall.
The fire in the fireplace was burning brightly, and the whole room felt warm.
Shaun stood by the fireplace and began to take off his soaked coat.
Madison came over, took his coat, and casually draped it over the back of a chair.
"You warm up by the fire first, I'm going to change."
As she said this, she ran upstairs.
Queenie also left, saying she was going to find some information.
Only Shaun and Cordelia were left in the hall.
Shaun realized this was clearly a space intentionally left for the two of them to talk!
He just feared... what Cordelia was about to say might not be so easy to answer.
Cordelia sat on the sofa, watching Shaun.
Her gaze was gentle, but Shaun knew she was sizing him up.
After a long while, she finally spoke: "Madison has been talking about you these past few days."
Talking about Madison again...
Shaun knew Cordelia was just looking for a topic to break the ice, so he nodded, waiting for what she would say next.
But Cordelia seemed quite persistent about this topic.
She continued: "She has never been like this, with anyone."
Seeing that he couldn't get past this topic, Shaun had no choice but to respond: "Perhaps... because I saved her?"
That was true; during the ghost-extermination mission at Hill Manor, it could indeed be said that Shaun had saved Madison's life.
Cordelia nodded as she listened, but said: "I know, but for her, it's not just because you saved her."
Shaun naturally knew that in his heart!
Madison's affection was already at its peak, so it was definitely different.
However, this wasn't easy to explain, so he could only nod.
Seeing this, Cordelia said: "Never mind, let's not talk about that. Are you ready?"
Shaun knew what she was asking about.
The magic test.
Since he was already here, Shaun knew he couldn't escape it.
Adhering to the philosophy of 'when in Rome, do as the Romans do,' he replied: "I'm ready."
Cordelia nodded and took something out from under the coffee table.
A small glass bottle containing silver liquid.
It was exactly the same one she had shown him at Hill Manor last time.
Cordelia said: "Drop a drop of blood in."
Shaun took the small bottle, looking at the silver liquid sloshing inside.
Wondering if he would get any results, he finally took a deep breath, bit his fingertip, squeezed out a drop of blood, and let it fall into the bottle.
The blood fell into the silver liquid.
In that instant...
The entire room seemed... no, it was certain that it went quiet.
The fire in the fireplace stopped flickering.
The sound of rain outside the window disappeared.
All sound vanished.
Only the small bottle in Shaun's palm emitted a faint light.
The silver turned into gold, not just a little gold.
It was a pure and intense gold, like molten gold.
Seeing this, Cordelia's pupils constricted slightly, and her voice was clearly a bit nervous: "This..."
Then the gold changed... it turned into black, a deep black like an abyss.
Shaun stared at the bottle.
Gold and black swirled and merged in the bottle until they finally stilled.
The inside of the bottle was a void of chaos.
Gold and black mixed together, indistinguishable from each other, like an abstract painting.
Cordelia was silent for a long time.
Then she raised her head, looking at Shaun with a complex gaze: "Shaun, your power..."
Shaun was quite looking forward to what Cordelia would say; he also wanted to know what his situation was.
As a result, he heard Cordelia continue: "I have never seen this kind of power before."
Great!
It seems Cordelia didn't know what was going on either.
Shaun looked at the bottle, wondering what exactly this was, and wondered if the golden book knew.
As soon as this thought occurred, the golden book flipped gently in his mind.
【Magic Test Results】
Attribute: Chaos / Undefined
Origin: Unknown
Potential: Extremely High
Note: You are not an ordinary warlock; there is something else inside you. But where it comes from, or what it is, remains unknown to others for now.
Give me a break!
Isn't it just you inside me?
And it says "remains unknown to others for now"!
But what the heck is this "Chaos" magic?
Could it be that I'm actually a Chaos Body?
Shaun felt that if Cordelia knew this information, it might not be a good thing, so he studied Cordelia, wanting to see her reaction.
But Cordelia just looked surprised; Shaun couldn't read her expression, so he could only ask again: "So what is this?"
Cordelia smiled and said: "So... you are a mystery, Shaun."
Saying that, she put the bottle away and said: "But it doesn't matter, mysteries can be solved slowly."
It seemed... Cordelia really had no clue about his situation.
This made Shaun breathe a sigh of relief.
Just as the test ended, footsteps came from the stairs.
Madison ran down, having changed into dry clothes, her hair still wet. She asked as she came down: "Done testing?"
Cordelia nodded.
Madison asked with some concern: "How is it?"
Cordelia didn't explain much, just saying: "It's fine, everything is normal."
Madison gave her a suspicious look, but didn't press for details.
She walked to Shaun's side, took his arm, and said: "Let's go, I'll take you to see Queenie; she has organized the information on that old man."
Shaun nodded and followed her upstairs.
When they reached the corner of the stairs, Shaun looked back.
He saw Cordelia standing by the fireplace, holding the small bottle, looking at him.
Her expression was still quite calm...
Shaun followed Madison up to the second floor and turned into a utility room that looked like it had been converted from a study.
Queenie was already there.
She was sitting behind an old desk, with several hand-drawn maps, a few old notebooks that looked like diaries, and something covered with a cloth spread out on the table.
She was still clutching that bag of potato chips, but for once, she wasn't stuffing them into her mouth, and her expression was much more serious than usual.
Seeing Shaun arrive, Queenie lifted her chin and said: "You're here? Sit."
Shaun looked around; there wasn't a second chair!
Just as he was about to ask where to sit, he saw Madison sit directly on the corner of the desk and patted the spot next to her: "If you're tired of standing, just sit here."
Shaun didn't sit.
He walked to the desk and looked at the spread-out maps.
They were aerial photos of the surrounding area, with several circles drawn in red ink.
Next to one circle was marked "Footprints," another marked "Wine Bottle," and another marked "???"
Shaun couldn't help but ask: "Did you find these?"
Queenie nodded and introduced: "The footprints are here, about two kilometers from the manor. The wine bottle is here, another five hundred meters in. And then..."
Her finger moved to the third circle: "When we got here, the traces just stopped."
Shaun stared at the spot marked with a question mark.
But he asked: "What do you mean by 'stopped'?"
Queenie didn't answer; instead, she uncovered the thing covered by the cloth.
Shaun took a look, and inside was a crystal ball.
It wasn't the cheap kind used by street fortune tellers; it was real crystal.
Transparent, about the size of a child's head, and something seemed to be flowing vaguely inside...
PS: The urban arc is dead; I'm thinking of shifting to the heavens channel.
