44: Chapter 44 The Supreme Witch's Invitation
Shaun continued to ask, "What about White?"
Hearing the name White, Fiona's expression shifted slightly.
She said, "White… I didn't kill him."
"He did come looking for the treasure. Just like that old man, he heard about it from somewhere and came running here to find it."
"But… he was even unluckier than the old man. He encountered something else."
Shaun was a bit confused, "Something else?"
Fiona looked at him, "Officer Sean, in this world, there is more than just witches."
Shaun understood.
Besides witches, there must be other supernatural things in this world.
For example, Hill Manor belongs to that category.
It seems White was also killed by some supernatural entity, but it appears the Supreme Witch is unwilling to explain clearly.
What exactly could it be?
While Shaun was thinking, he suddenly heard Fiona say, "Shaun, let's talk about a collaboration."
Shaun looked at her, not understanding what he could possibly collaborate on with the Supreme Witch, so he asked uncertainly, "Collaboration?"
"Yes." Fiona nodded, "I need to find that treasure. My power is fading, and I need those things to maintain my position and my life."
Speaking of this, Fiona's gaze became serious.
"But now it seems that outsiders… like that old man, or that police officer, actually know more than I do."
"Where did they hear about it? Who told them?"
"I want to know these things!"
Shaun understood.
Fiona herself couldn't figure out where the witch's treasure was, so she was seeking his help instead.
Shaun looked at her and said, "You want me to help you investigate?"
"Yes," Fiona said, "You are a police officer; you can investigate things that I cannot."
"Surveillance, call records, interpersonal relationships—I can't touch those things, but you can."
Could collaborating with the Supreme Witch actually work?
Shaun was silent for a moment.
Fiona seemed very insistent on this idea, saying, "In exchange, I will return that old man to you, alive."
Is Frank that important?
For Shaun, it was a matter of finding him if possible, but if not, so be it.
And compared to collaborating with the Supreme Witch, this matter required caution.
"Also," Fiona continued, "I won't touch the power within you. If you help me clear up the matter of the treasure, you will be my person. In this city, no one will dare to touch you."
These words still made Shaun somewhat tempted.
He was afraid that the Supreme Witch would start studying him.
After thinking about it, collaborating with Fiona wasn't impossible, so he nodded.
Fiona asked, "Agreed?"
Shaun said, "Yes, but I have conditions."
Shaun knew that when facing someone like Fiona, you couldn't just accept everything blindly.
Fiona looked at him with some surprise, "Speak."
"First, release Frank now. I will send someone to pick him up."
Actually, this wasn't really a demand, as it was a condition Fiona had already agreed to.
So Fiona nodded, "Fine."
"Second, regarding White's death… if there is real danger, I won't investigate to the bitter end, but when there is danger, you must help me."
Fiona thought for a moment, "Fine. Those things are no match for me, but I won't take the initiative to act."
Shaun understood.
Fiona knew who killed White, and she wasn't afraid of those things.
But clearly, those things were not to be trifled with; even the Supreme Witch didn't want to provoke them unnecessarily.
In a flash, processing the meaning behind Fiona's words, Shaun paused, then finally said, "Third… you just said that I am your person, and in this city, no one dares to touch me."
"Then what if… the one who touches me is you?"
Fiona was taken aback for a moment, then burst into happy laughter.
"Officer Sean, you are the most interesting ordinary… no, you aren't an ordinary person anymore. You are simply the most interesting man I have ever met."
She reached out her hand, "Deal."
Shaun looked at the hand the Supreme Witch had offered and, without hesitation, shook it.
"Deal."
Fiona let go, turned around, and walked toward the door.
When she reached the door, she stopped and said without turning back, "That old man will appear at the entrance of your manor tomorrow. Not a single hair will be missing."
After she finished speaking, the door closed.
The room fell into dead silence.
Madison slid down from the wall, gasping for air.
The potato chips in Queenie's hand finally fell to the ground.
Shaun stood where he was, staring at the door.
In his mind, the golden book turned a page.
[Character Profile]
Name: Fiona Goode
Source: American Horror Story: Coven
Status: Alive (and living very well)
Current Location: Robichaux Manor, or wherever she wants to be
Danger Level: Extreme (A Supreme Witch who has lived for over three hundred years; she doesn't need a reason to kill you)
Affinity: 15/100 (She thinks you are "somewhat useful," which is a dangerous beginning)
[Character Introduction]
Fiona Goode, Supreme Witch, mother of Cordelia.
She is beautiful, elegant, and charming, looking like a well-maintained noblewoman in her fifties. But in those eyes, an abyss is hidden.
Her Abilities: Master of the Seven Wonders, telekinesis, transmutation, vitalum vitalis… she can do everything, and she is powerful in everything. There is nothing in the New Orleans area that she doesn't know about.
Her Weakness: Her power is fading. The lifespan of a Supreme Witch is limited; she is aging and weakening. She fears death, fears losing her power, and fears being forgotten…
[Special Note]
The Supreme Witch Fiona was originally not interested in you.
A regular police officer coming to her manor to respond to a call, playing dumb, and then leaving—she has seen this many times.
But later, you brought that cold-faced policewoman, and then brought a hellish little girl.
You blocked an attack in front of her little witch.
You awakened a power at Hill Manor that even she cannot fathom.
Now, the way the Supreme Witch looks at you is no longer looking at an ant, but at someone who might be useful.
Affinity + 15.
Shaun was stunned; he didn't expect the Supreme Witch's character profile to pop up as well.
Speaking of which, Shaun also studied why, among the witches, only Madison's character profile had been unlocked in the golden book.
Thinking about it later, it might be because only Madison had unlocked the affinity system.
Right now…
He didn't expect the second witch to unlock a profile would be this Supreme Witch.
Looking further down…
[Affinity Details]
You reached a cooperation agreement to help her search for the witch's power + 10
You awakened a power she cannot fathom + 5
You are the person Madison has taken a liking to + 0 (She doesn't care about this)
That time you blocked an attack in front of Madison + 0 (She thinks that was something you should have done)
As expected!
The Supreme Witch only cares about herself; the things he did for Madison didn't add any affinity at all.
[Notice: Your magic power and telekinesis level have increased…]
