55: Chapter 55 Sean, who was targeted by a vampire
So that's how White died!
Shaun understood now!
White wasn't killed by a witch, nor was he silenced by a gang; he was drained of blood by a monster!
Oh, no...
It couldn't exactly be said he was drained of blood. More accurately, someone lost control; they originally intended to turn him, but the conversion failed, and he died instantly.
...
Elizabeth looked at him and asked, "You look very angry?"
Shaun wasn't exactly angry, just... it was hard to evaluate this situation.
A cop tried to suck up to a vampire but failed, and instead, he got himself killed.
Elizabeth smiled. "That policeman, even if I hadn't touched him, wouldn't have lived much longer. The things he was investigating weren't for him to touch."
She stood up, walked to the front of Shaun again, and said, "Just like the things you are investigating now."
Shaun looked at her and asked seriously, "The treasure?"
Elizabeth's eyes lit up. "Yes."
Then she reached out and lightly tapped Shaun's chest. "That treasure, I am looking for it too."
Shaun wasn't particularly panicked at this moment; he just continued to ask, "Are you working with the Colombians?"
Elizabeth smiled. "Working? They run errands for me, find people for me, and help me handle those troublesome dirty jobs. I help them..."
"Solve some things they can't solve themselves."
As she spoke, she glanced at the Bat Monster on the floor. "Like this one, it was originally theirs, but later it became disobedient."
Shaun was processing this information.
Elizabeth was looking for the treasure.
The Colombians were helping her.
White died because he investigated this.
Frank was caught because he investigated this.
The answer to all the mysteries was actually because of this vampire.
...
While Shaun was contemplating, Elizabeth suddenly reached out and gently tilted Shaun's chin up.
The movement was very light and elegant.
But Shaun felt the temperature of that hand...
Ice cold, like marble.
"Shaun." Elizabeth's grey-blue eyes moved slowly across Shaun's face. "Do you know? You are very handsome."
Madison let out a dissatisfied snort from behind.
Elizabeth ignored her.
"Not just ordinary good-looking," she continued. "The kind of good-looking that makes me want to look a few more times."
Shaun didn't know if it was because of his [Elementary Charm] skill that Elizabeth was like this, but anyway... why did this Elizabeth seem like she was fangirling?
Just as he was thinking this, Elizabeth let go of his chin and said, "Join us."
Shaun looked at her, not reacting for a moment. "What?"
Elizabeth walked back to the sofa and sat down again.
She crossed her legs and picked up her wine glass. "We'll find that treasure together."
She took a sip of wine, her tone somewhat seductive. "You will live for a long, long time."
She looked at Shaun, a hint of seriousness in her eyes. "I can make you like me. Immortal, ageless, forever like this."
"We will be together for a very long time, you and I..."
Madison got anxious in the back. "Shaun, don't listen to her!"
Shaun raised his hand, interrupting her.
He looked at Elizabeth.
"No."
Elizabeth's eyebrows twitched, seemingly a bit surprised. "No?"
"No," Shaun repeated firmly. "I'm not joining."
Elizabeth stared at Shaun for three seconds, and then she laughed happily.
She laughed for a while before saying, "Interesting, truly interesting."
"Do you know how many people beg me to give them eternity?"
"Do you know how many people kneel before me just to live one more day?"
Actually, Shaun had zero interest in this eternity business.
Or rather...
He felt that by relying on the cheats he possessed, he could become an eternal being on his own. So he shook his head and said, "I don't know, and I don't want to know."
Elizabeth didn't mind much. "Good, very good."
She stepped back. "I won't force you."
Shaun hadn't expected Elizabeth to be so easy to talk to. He was about to respond when he heard Elizabeth say, "You can think about it slowly. A year, ten years, a hundred years... I have plenty of time."
She looked into Shaun's eyes and said very seriously, "I will wait for you to change your mind."
This left Shaun silent; he really didn't know what to say.
Elizabeth walked back to the sofa, picked up her wine glass, and her tone became casual. "As for that policeman's matter, just use that thing to report back."
She pointed to the Bat Monster on the floor and said, "The corpse is yours. Just say you killed it; no one will know the truth."
Shaun looked at the dead monster and smiled bitterly. "I investigated White's case for so long, and this is it?"
Elizabeth shrugged. "Otherwise? Did you want to arrest me?"
Shaun was speechless. Indeed, there was no other choice in this situation.
Trying to arrest this vampire Countess...
It was simply impossible.
It was just that as a police officer, feeling like he was being manipulated by a criminal was a bit embarrassing.
Seeing that Shaun didn't speak, Elizabeth smiled again and said, "Officer Sean, you are very serious. I like serious people."
She raised her wine glass and gestured to him, possessing the air of an elegant noble. "Go! Take that old man, take that corpse, and go back to report."
"We will meet again."
It could only be this way...
Shaun knew he likely couldn't beat this Countess, so for now, this was all he could do.
Thus, he turned around and helped Frank up.
Madison quickly came over to help.
The two of them supported Frank and dragged the Bat Monster's corpse as they walked out.
When they reached the door, Elizabeth's voice came from behind.
"Shaun."
"Remember my words."
"I will wait for you."
Shaun didn't look back and stepped directly over the threshold.
But he knew very well in his heart... this matter wasn't over yet!
...
When Shaun dragged the Bat Monster's corpse out of the secret door, the Colombians in the warehouse were all stunned.
The corpse was massive, its grey-black skin gleaming weirdly under the dim yellow light. The wound on its chest was still seeping black blood, leaving a shocking trail on the floor as it was dragged along.
Madison followed behind, supporting Frank.
Frank was still unconscious, his head drooping, but at least he was still alive.
The Colombians stood around, still holding weapons, but not a single one moved.
They looked at the corpse, then at Shaun... as if they were looking at a god of war.
Shaun didn't look at them.
He dragged the corpse to the center of the room and let go.
There was a muffled thud.
Then he raised his head, his gaze slowly sweeping over those people.
He didn't speak, just looked.
Shaun also knew that at a time like this, he had to keep quiet and act like an expert to intimidate these desperate criminals.
The Colombians looked at each other.
No one dared to move.
No one dared to speak.
Shaun withdrew his gaze, walked to Madison's side, and took Frank's other arm.
The two of them supported Frank and walked out.
When they reached the door, Shaun stopped and said without looking back, "I'm taking that thing. Any problems?"
There was a silence behind him.
Shaun didn't wait for an answer; he pushed open the door and walked straight out.
