87: Chapter 87 A Breakthrough Attempt
Sean was scolded, but his expression remained calm.
"I know."
"But Cordelia failed, Madison isn't qualified, and you have no other candidates."
"Fiona is dying, her power is fading. Do you have any other solution?"
Myrtle opened her mouth but said nothing.
She looked at Sean, her heavily kohl-lined eyes filled with many emotions... anger, doubt, and a hint of indescribable weariness.
But Myrtle knew Sean was right.
There were no other candidates!
Madison stood up and walked over to Sean.
"Are you crazy? Do you know what kind of power that is? Can your body handle it?"
Sean looked at her: "Even if I can't, I have to."
Madison stared at him, her blue eyes full of worry.
After a long moment... she averted her gaze and looked out the window.
"You're always like this, always pushing yourself to the brink of death."
Sean didn't speak.
Cordelia pushed herself up from the sofa, her face still pale, but her eyes brightened.
"Sean, do you know what this means?"
"The Supreme Witch's power will be within you, and you will become the target of all witches."
"Marie Laveau will come for you, Elizabeth will come for you, and all those demons will come for you."
Sean, however, didn't care about this.
In fact, these witches were already looking for him.
So Sean looked at Cordelia: "They are already looking for me."
Cordelia fell silent.
She knew Sean was right.
From the moment the woman in the church was possessed, from the moment the Bat Monster was killed, from the confrontation with Marie Laveau in the swamp... Sean had long been targeted.
The Supreme Witch's power being within him would only make the target clearer.
Myrtle walked over and stood in front of Sean, asking: "Do you know how to bear it?"
Sean shook his head.
Myrtle sighed: "I don't know either. This has never happened before. A Warlock bearing the Supreme Witch's power, there's no such rule."
Sean smiled upon hearing this: "Then let's make a new one."
Myrtle stared at him for three seconds.
After a while, she shook her head again: "You're really interesting. Although I don't know what you're relying on, you dare to even think of such an idea..."
She turned and walked towards the stairs as she spoke.
"I'm going to see Fiona. If she wakes up, I'll ask her. If she doesn't agree, this matter is out of the question."
Asking Fiona about this was probably a lost cause.
Sean thought this in his heart, but still let Myrtle try first.
If it didn't work, he would just think of another way.
The hall fell silent again.
Madison stood beside Sean, her hand on his arm, not speaking.
Cordelia leaned back on the sofa, her eyes closed.
Queenie finally started eating potato chips, the crunching sound particularly loud in the quiet hall.
Sean leaned against the wall, closing his eyes.
The golden book floated quietly in his mind, the three wavy lines on its cover glowing faintly, flickering like breath.
It contained the black mist swallowed from the door, the darkness of Hill Manor, and the aura of the old gods.
Now, the Supreme Witch's power would also be added!
Sean didn't know if he could bear it, but he believed in the power of his cheat.
...
Myrtle pushed open the door on the third floor.
The room was dark, the curtains tightly drawn. Only the small lamp by the bed was lit, casting a dim, yellow light on the dressing table and the ruby necklace.
Fiona lay on the bed, her eyes closed, her face as white as paper, her lips cracked, her hair spread on the pillow, revealing graying roots...
Judging by her hair, Fiona was indeed aging rapidly.
Myrtle stood by the bed, looking at her.
She had hated this woman.
Fiona Goode had stolen her position, burned her hands, and mocked her dreams.
But at this moment, looking at that pale face, she found that she couldn't hate her anymore.
"Fiona," Myrtle said.
Fiona's eyes moved slightly, slowly opening.
Those eyes, once sharp as knives, were now cloudy, as if covered with a layer of dust.
She looked at Myrtle for three seconds, then her lips moved slightly.
"You've come."
"Cordelia failed," Myrtle said, without preamble or comfort. "Descensum was not completed. She did not become the Supreme Witch."
Fiona's eyes blinked.
There was no anger, no disappointment, none of the emotions Myrtle had expected.
She just... blinked and asked: "Is she still alive?"
"Alive."
Fiona nodded: "That's good."
Myrtle stared at her: "You're not going to ask what to do with the Supreme Witch's power?"
Fiona looked at her: "What to do?"
Myrtle took a deep breath: "That Warlock, Sean, he said he could bear your power, store it, and return it when a suitable heir appears."
She paused, then continued: "I know this goes against the rules, but Cordelia failed, Madison isn't qualified, and there are no other candidates. If you don't agree..."
"Then let him try."
Myrtle's words were cut short by the Supreme Witch.
Myrtle was stunned.
She thought Fiona would refuse, would be angry, would call her crazy.
How could the Supreme Witch's power be given to an outsider? A Warlock?
"You..." Myrtle opened her mouth, "You agreed?"
Fiona looked at the ceiling: "I'm tired. I've searched for treasure for so many years, expended so much power, thought of so many ways, just to live. Now... living doesn't seem to have much meaning."
Myrtle didn't speak.
She felt that Fiona couldn't possibly give up so easily.
Fiona seemed to sense Myrtle's thoughts, but merely closed her eyes and said: "Let that Warlock come up, while I'm still alive."
Myrtle stood for a while, then turned and walked out of the room.
She stood in the hallway, took a deep breath, and leaned against the wall to steady herself.
In the hall, Sean leaned against the wall, Madison stood beside him, Cordelia sat on the sofa, and Queenie squatted on the stairs.
Everyone was looking at her.
Myrtle walked up to Sean, her eyes looking a little strange: "She agreed."
Madison's eyes widened, Cordelia sat up straight on the sofa, and Queenie's chips fell to the floor again.
Sean looked at Myrtle, whose eyes were a little red, but her voice was steady.
She said: "She wants you to go up, while she's still alive."
Sean straightened up and walked towards the stairs.
Madison grabbed his arm: "I'll go with you."
Sean looked at her: "You wait downstairs, you won't be able to help up there."
Saying this, he even actively kissed Madison, as if to make her believe in him.
Madison then nodded obediently.
Sean went up the stairs, walked to the door at the end of the corridor, and pushed it open.
Fiona lay on the bed, looking at him, and in her cloudy eyes, there seemed to be a glimmer of light...
It was a light of hope!
Fiona... she still wanted to live!
