219: A bit perfunctory, a bit hard to hear
“No need, I’ll contact Mo Yan’an myself.”
Jiang Fei rejected the Fat Man, and after Lu Yu drove into the Base, she used a special walkie-talkie to contact Mo Yan’an.
“My friends and I have arrived in Kyoto. Where is the accommodation you arranged?”
Mo Yan’an: “Fenglin Villa District.”
“It’s the Villa District that Goddess Sister, you took me to last time.”
“I’ll wait for you here.”
Lu Yu remembered the way and directly turned to drive over.
Jiang Zhengkang’s ordinary RV followed closely behind.
Su Liuyuan and Ling Zhaorui, who were in the car, curiously looked out the window and exclaimed.
“The Kyoto Base wasn’t affected by the earthquake at all. It even has restaurants, pharmacies, and convenience stores. It truly lives up to its reputation as our nation’s capital city, with immense strength.”
“Sister Jiang, I just saw a restaurant with lights on. It’s only afternoon, and it’s not even dark yet. Does the Base have electricity 24/7?”
“No, some areas have restricted use of water and electricity.” Jiang Fei briefly explained the Base’s regulations to them.
Before long, Lu Yu arrived at the Fenglin Villa District.
Mo Yan’an, Uncle Liu, and bodyguards were waiting by the roadside.
Seeing Jiang Fei and the others get out of the car and walk over, the bodyguards collectively raised their hands.
Bang!
Colorful confetti from party poppers slowly drifted down from the sky.
“Welcome to the Kyoto Base!” Mo Yan’an looked at Jiang Fei with sparkling eyes, an expression that seemed to be asking for praise:
“How is it, Goddess Sister? Isn’t the welcome ceremony I prepared great!”
Jiang Fei expressionlessly picked a few pieces of confetti from her head and, against her conscience, said, “It’s quite good.”
It was too flashy.
Mo Yan’an happily instructed the bodyguards to clean up the confetti on the ground, then led Jiang Fei’s group to see their accommodation.
It was on the edge of the Fenglin Villa District.
Each villa was spaced about 10 meters apart; some were three stories, some two, and all had independent courtyards large enough for parties.
“Goddess Sister, this two-story villa is your residence.”
The villa Mo Yan’an pointed to was smaller than the other houses, but its wall was the tallest.
Even standing on the top floor of the adjacent two-story villa, one couldn’t see into the courtyard.
He whispered to Jiang Fei, “I specifically chose this spot for you. It’s the most secluded, offers strong privacy, and you won’t be seen taking things from your space.”
“The furniture and appliances are also the best, ready for immediate move-in.”
Jiang Fei was very satisfied.
It was much more reliable than the welcome ceremony.
“All the villas in the Fenglin Villa District are mine; you can choose freely, and Uncle Liu will give you the keys.”
After speaking to Jiang Zhengkang and the others, Mo Yan’an led Jiang Fei into Villa No. 11.
Several maple trees were planted on the west side of the courtyard, and the grass was lush.
On the east side was a small pond.
The pond water had been freshly changed, clean and clear.
The two areas were separated by a stone slab path.
The space was large enough; the east side was perfect for raising chicks and goslings, and the west side for planting.
As Mo Yan’an entered the house, Jiang Fei immediately noticed the grey wool carpet covering the living room.
In the entrance shoe cabinet, there were two pairs of slippers in unopened packaging.
After changing into slippers, Mo Yan’an introduced the villa to Jiang Fei.
The first floor had two guest rooms, a bathroom, Chinese and Western kitchens, a small dining room, and a storage room.
The second floor featured a master bedroom with a bathroom and dressing room, a study, and an empty room that Jiang Fei could renovate as she pleased.
As Mo Yan’an said, the furniture and appliances were complete. Both the first and second floors had central air conditioning, water purifiers, and air purifiers.
Furthermore, it was protected against insects and ants, and the electrical wires could be connected to a generator to prevent power outages in emergencies.
In addition, the Fenglin Villa District had 24/7 water and electricity supply, completely saving Jiang Fei’s supplies.
The more Jiang Fei looked, the more she liked it, and she put away the key to No. 11 that Mo Yan’an had given her.
“Please send someone to Changhai’s Underground City to find a girl named Xiao Chuxia and tell her my address.”
She had moved to a new home and needed to inform Xiao Hua Lao.
Mo Yan’an readily agreed: “I’ll have Uncle Liu send someone right away.”
The two changed shoes and returned outside. Lu Yu and the others had already chosen their houses.
Lu Yu was staying in Villa No. 10, a two-story villa next to Jiang Fei’s.
Ling Zhaorui and Su Liuyuan were in No. 9.
Jiang Zhengkang, Jiang Xiaoshi, Han Yang, Yao Jin, and Niu Er, accustomed to living together, chose the three-story Villa No. 8.
Cao Xiuhong didn’t want to live alone, finding it too quiet, so she also went to No. 8.
Each floor of the villa had an independent bathroom, so she could live on the top floor alone without worrying about privacy, and she could cook and take care of Xiao Shi.
Jiang Fei asked Lu Yu for help to carry Big Yellow and the chicks and goslings down from the Unimog.
When he saw the chubby orange cat and the plump, beautiful chickens and geese, Mo Yan’an was stunned.
He had seen people raising cats, dogs, and poultry in Kyoto, but none were as good-looking and plump as Jiang Fei’s.
“Goddess Sister, are these your pets?”
“Yes.” Mentioning her babies, Jiang Fei was very proud:
“This one is Big Yellow, and the ones in the box are Boss, Second, Third, and Fourth.”
Mo Yan’an: “...”
The names were a bit perfunctory and somewhat unpleasant.
Mo Yan’an was too embarrassed to say it, so he gave a few symbolic compliments and changed the subject:
“My chef should have prepared the welcome feast. Let’s go over.”
After putting away their luggage, everyone followed Mo Yan’an to Villa No. 1.
Ling Zhaorui was responsible for pushing Su Liuyuan in his wheelchair.
Their location was quite far from Mo Yan’an’s home; they walked for nearly half an hour before arriving.
Mo Yan’an’s bodyguards also doubled as nannies, providing disposable slippers for everyone.
The villa was luxuriously decorated, with expensive artworks visible everywhere.
Arriving at the dining room, the food was already laid out on the table.
Eight meat dishes, eight vegetable dishes, plus a soup, all made with the freshest ingredients.
The presentation was exquisite, and all the tableware was made of jade.
Jiang Zhengkang and the others carefully picked them up, not daring to use force, fearing they might accidentally break them.
Mo Yan’an, however, was indifferent: “Just treat it like home; use them freely.”
“I have plenty of jade.”
Everyone: “...”
Look how infuriating that sounds!
But everyone relaxed because of Mo Yan’an’s words and began to enjoy the delicious food.
After eating and drinking their fill, Mo Yan’an asked Uncle Liu to bring a cardboard box.
Inside were more than a dozen special walkie-talkies developed by the Mo family and several maps of the Kyoto Base.
After distributing them to everyone, Mo Yan’an unfolded a map on the dining table, with one-fifth of the area circled in red.
“The areas circled in red belong to the Mo family. You can visit them with confidence; no one will dare to bully you.”
“The Base has only one rule: fighting, brawling, and using firearms or dangerous goods are prohibited. Actually, if you don’t get caught by the Security Team and Rescue Team, it’s fine.”
“Goddess Sister, these streets all have my shops. Tomorrow I’ll take you to see them and decide on a location for your shop.”
“Okay.” Jiang Fei, under the cover of her jacket pocket, took out three jade pendants from the Supermarket warehouse and gave them to Mo Yan’an.
“A gift.”
Xiao Jin Yang had been busy helping them, so he deserved a thank-you gift.
He also liked jade, and there was plenty in the warehouse.
“Thank you, Goddess Sister.” Mo Yan’an caressed the jade pendants with fondness.
As a jade enthusiast, he could tell the quality of the jade pendants at a glance; they were all top-grade.
Goddess Sister understood him!
After dinner, everyone returned to their respective homes to pack their luggage.
Jiang Fei went to No. 9 and No. 10 to place Lu Yu’s and the other two’s supplies and discuss tomorrow’s itinerary.
Living in the Base required contribution points, so Lu Yu planned to apply for the Security Team tomorrow.
Similar to the Safety Shelter’s Patrol Team, he could get any news from the Base firsthand.
Ling Zhaorui, on the other hand, went to interview at the Cultivation Park.
That was the Base’s breeding and planting area, and he was skilled in that aspect.
Su Liuyuan, being unable to move easily, stayed home to recover from his injuries.
As it got dark and Jiang Zhengkang and the others wouldn’t come out of their homes, Jiang Fei went outside to put the RV into the Supermarket warehouse and replaced it with two commercial vans, one SUV, and one pickup truck.
One commercial van was for Villa No. 8, and one for Ling Zhaorui.
They were spacious with many seats, making them convenient to drive.
Lu Yu had the SUV, and she had the pickup truck, which was easy to handle.
They would simply say that Mo Yan’an had given them the cars.
Ling Zhaorui went to Villa No. 8 to deliver the car keys and supplies to Jiang Zhengkang and the others. Jiang Fei took Lu Yu back to Villa No. 11 and took out tools such as wooden boards and wire mesh.
Lu Yu helped her build a cage on the east side of the courtyard to keep the chicks and goslings.
He also made a small shed to block the rain.
After finishing the work, Lu Yu, with a hidden motive, said, “Let Big Yellow stay here with you from now on.”
No. 10 and No. 11 were far apart, so a connecting door couldn’t be made, but if Big Yellow was kept at his neighbor’s, he would have a reason to visit frequently.
