350: Welcome home

Jiang Fei turned her head in confusion to look at Lu Yu beside her.

The room light was still on.

At some point, Lu Yu had put on a pink cat-ear headband.

There were also two small golden bells on the cat ears.

At this moment, Lu Yu was looking down at her, his eyes slightly upturned at the corners, a hazy, shimmering look of intoxication, adding an indescribable allure to his usual gentle and noble demeanor.

He was like a cat demon skilled in enchantment.

Jiang Fei couldn't help but reach out and touch his soft cat ears: "When did you get that headband?"

"When I was moving the wine, I hid the headband in my clothes."

"Tonight I asked Captain Xu, and he said the cabin's soundproofing is excellent."

As Lu Yu spoke, he leaned closer to Jiang Fei, softly calling her name:

"Fei Fei..."

"Can I be on top this time?"

The last few times, he had always been underneath.

He wanted to try seeing the scenery from a different angle, to see if it was different from looking up.

Lu Yu gently rubbed his nose against Jiang Fei's wrist, as if pouting.

The bells on his cat ears made a faint, clear sound with his movements.

Jiang Fei had to admit, she loved Lu Yu like this:

"Okay."

The next second, Lu Yu pressed a kiss to her wrist.

The soft touch of his lips, carrying warmth, slowly spread to Jiang Fei's neck, then her collarbone... The jingling of the bells grew louder and louder, like a beautiful melody, covering the hurried gasps and suppressed moans.

The consequence of playing one song after another was that Jiang Fei didn't get up to make breakfast the next day.

As a result, Su Liuyuan and the others sat around the table, all eating instant noodles.

Ling Zhaorui looked at the clock on the wall: "It's almost ten o'clock, why aren't Sister Jiang and Brother Lu up yet?"

Xiao Chuxia guessed: "Maybe they were too tired from working yesterday."

Just then, Jiang Fei and Lu Yu came to eat and heard Xiao Chuxia's words.

Jiang Fei silently pursed her slightly swollen lips.

It was indeed very tiring.

—

With Xiao Chuxia's insect repellent spray, Jiang Fei and the others no longer needed to wear protective gear when going to the deck.

Unexpectedly, the number of bloodsucking moths decreased day by day.

The temperature remained at 25℃, a comfortable temperature for the human body.

By the morning of the tenth day, not a single moth could be seen outside.

The six of them, including Jiang Fei, could even take their breakfast to eat on the deck.

The sea breeze was gentle, and Su Liuyuan took a bite of the wrap Jiang Fei made, saying indistinctly:

"After so many days out of Mos City, we can finally see the sea."

Ling Zhaorui: "I feel like the air has become fresher after the bloodsucking moths disappeared."

"Before, I could smell a faint scent of acid rain, but now I can't smell anything."

"Could it be that the moth plague's benefit is purifying the air?"

Xiao Chuxia: "I'm not sure..."

Whoosh—

Suddenly, the ship's horn blared, drowning out Xiao Chuxia's voice.

Three patrol ships appeared in their line of sight.

The high-flying red flag was particularly striking.

Su Liuyuan, who was gnawing on his wrap, sprang to his feet: "It's our country's patrol ship!"

"Captain Xu, have we entered Chinese waters?!"

"That's right!" Xu Qianyao's face broke into a smile:

"To prevent other countries from infiltrating, the base dispatches patrol ships to cruise our country's waters daily."

"In less than five hours, we'll reach China's Sea Base."

"Yay!" Xiao Chuxia excitedly hugged Jiang Fei beside her:

"Miss, we're almost home!"

"Mm!" Jiang Fei's eyes sparkled as she looked at the patrol ship opposite.

Finally, no more drifting.

Survivors on nearby cruise ships also ran to the deck, excitedly waving and greeting the patrol ships.

The cheers were deafening.

The Comrades on the patrol ships opposite raised their hands in response.

A neat and loud shout came from afar.

"Welcome home—!"

—

The closer they got to home, the more restless Jiang Fei and the others became, as if their hearts were growing grass.

They packed their luggage in advance and went to the deck to wait.

As noon approached, the large base towering on the sea surface came into everyone's view.

The port was filled with countless warships, cruise ships, cranes, transport ships, dredgers... Noticing the ship approaching, soldiers at the port came with guns to greet them.

Jiang Fei's yacht was the first to dock and land.

Once on the platform, Jiang Fei could clearly see that the base had twenty entrances and exits.

Each entrance and exit was fitted with an iron gate, narrow enough for only one person to pass through.

Next to the entrances and exits were houses converted from shipping containers.

There were staff inside.

It was very similar to the small houses for identity registration at the Kyoto Base entrance and exit back then.

Led by the Rescue Team, the survivors on the cruise ship queued in an orderly fashion to disembark.

Xu Qianyao led Jiang Fei and her five companions to stand aside, waiting for Han Yang and the others.

After a while, Jiang Fei saw Han Yang, You Yuxi, You Chengyu, Mother You, Mo Yanan, Father Mo, Wu Xiaowei, Wu Dayong, and Mu Qingzhou in the crowd.

The nine of them came down together.

Compared to their emaciated state half a month ago, their faces now had a little more flesh.

Su Liuyuan teased Han Yang: "How did you even get fatter staying on the ship?"

Han Yang chuckled: "Eating three or four meals a day, and always getting full, who wouldn't gain weight?"

Wu Xiaowei clicked her tongue: "The food on the ship was really good; we even had meat every three days."

"If we hadn't arrived, I would have wanted to stay there a few more days."

"Alright," Xu Qianyao interrupted everyone:

"You can chat more once we get in the car. First, I'll take you for a medical check-up and identity registration, and I'll try to arrange your living quarters closer together."

Saying that, Xu Qianyao led everyone to one of the entrances and exits.

He showed the staff through the window of the house the documents he carried.

"I am Xu Qianyao, captain of the first squad of the Rescue Team. Please conduct checks for them."

"Okay." The female staff member walked out.

A male staff member followed behind her.

"Gentlemen, please follow him; ladies, please follow me."

The group split up.

Jiang Fei, Xiao Chuxia, You Yuxi, and Mother You followed the female staff member into a nearby tin house.

Inside, there were body temperature guns, test strips, and various inspection instruments.

After locking the door, the female staff member first conducted an examination on Jiang Fei.

The main purpose was to check for infectious diseases and viruses.

After confirming that Jiang Fei was fine and in good health, the female staff member proceeded to examine You Yuxi.

To prevent Mother You from being uncooperative, Jiang Fei had given her a lollipop to eat in advance.

After nearly an hour, the four had completed their examinations.

The female staff member took out four cards from the cabinet.

The front of the cards displayed China's red flag.

The back was printed with the three large characters "Pass."

After distributing them to Jiang Fei and the others, the female staff member instructed:

"These are universal passes for China's Sea and Land Bases. Please keep them safe; once lost, they cannot be reissued."

"Thank you, Comrade." Jiang Fei put away her pass and went out with Xiao Chuxia and the others.

Lu Yu's group had more people and hadn't finished yet.

After waiting for nearly half an hour, Lu Yu and the others finally came out.

Xu Qianyao walked over with a bunch of keys: "I've registered your housing information."

"Jiang Fei, you and Lu Yu share a room; Su Liuyuan and Ling Zhaorui share a room; Chu Xia has her own room."

"You'll be in the same building as my grandmother. These three keys are yours."

After giving the keys to Jiang Fei, Xu Qianyao distributed keys to You Yuxi and the others.

The keys had labels with the community name and house number.

Jiang Fei and her five companions were in the "Friendship Zone," while Han Yang and You Chengyu's group were in the "Unity Zone."

Xu Qianyao: "Mo Yanan, the community you're staying in isn't far from Jiang Fei's, about a twenty-minute walk."

"I'll take you there now."

Everyone passed through the entrance and exit with their passes.

Upon entering the Sea Base, they saw many large buses parked in the adjacent parking lot.

These were specifically for transporting survivors to their resettlement housing.

After getting a car key from a staff member, Xu Qianyao took everyone into the car and drove towards the bridge leading to the Land Base.

Su Liuyuan looked out the car window and couldn't help but exclaim:

"Our country is amazing! Even with resource shortages, they built a bridge on the sea."

"Of course, they're not called infrastructure maniacs for nothing." Ling Zhaorui proudly lifted his head, then suddenly noticed a large platform on the sea surface to the left of the bridge.

High iron fences surrounded the platform, and inside were rows of red container houses.

Ling Zhaorui curiously asked Xu Qianyao:

"Captain Xu, what are those red houses?"
