271: Hiding the body
The truck drove straight towards Jiang Fei’s off-road vehicle, intending to ram her car.
Jiang Fei quickly turned the steering wheel, spun her car around, and drove onto another road.
Their plan thwarted, the truck relentlessly pursued her.
But as they rounded a bend, the off-road vehicle suddenly vanished.
The truck screeched to a halt.
The two men in the cab were dumbfounded.
“Where’s Jiang Fei? How did she disappear after just one turn?”
“Could she have driven into some corner and hidden?”
“This road has no streetlights, no residents, it’s pitch black. If she turned off her headlights, it’d be like she vanished.”
“Let’s go, we’ll get down and search.”
One man grabbed a flashlight, the other a knife, and they got out of the truck, searching along the roadside.
Suddenly, a figure appeared before them.
“Ah!”
Before he could even see who it was, the man with the knife had his throat slit by a dagger.
The other man immediately went to pick up the knife that had fallen to the ground, but a gun was pressed against his forehead.
The man froze.
“Who sent you?”
Jiang Fei threatened coldly, “If you don’t want to be the next corpse, tell me the truth.”
“It’s, it’s our boss, Pei Wenlong…”
“He told us to stake out near Ping An Small Mall. When you closed up for the night and went home, we were to ram your car, kill you, and make it look like you died in a car accident.”
Jiang Fei: “Where is Pei Wenlong now?”
“Mingdu Hotel. He’s having dinner and drinks with representatives from other bases.”
“Cheng Pingwei and the You Family demanded too many supplies. The boss wants to borrow some from others, so he probably won’t be back at the hotel until very late…”
Before he could finish, Jiang Fei shot the man in the head.
She had already obtained the information she needed.
She stored the two corpses in the Supermarket warehouse, including the truck not far away.
It was hers now.
Earlier, she had deliberately driven onto this road, and under the cover of night, she and her car entered the Supermarket.
Calculating the time, she then exited the Supermarket to apprehend them.
That bastard really wasn’t honest.
Unfortunately, Cheng Pingwei had grown suspicious of her, and Pei Wenlong’s compensation supplies hadn’t been handed over yet, so she couldn’t kill him in the short term.
But she could certainly give him a little trouble.
Retrieving her off-road vehicle, Jiang Fei drove to Mo’s Hotel.
She got a spare room card from Qiu Qiu and went to Pei Wenlong’s room on the 6th floor.
She glanced around.
The curtains weren’t drawn.
Pei Wenlong would surely draw the curtains first when he returned to rest.
Jiang Fei hid one corpse in the corner behind the curtains.
The other was hidden in the bathroom.
She adjusted the corpse’s posture, making him sit on the toilet lid, leaning against the wall.
Ensuring that Pei Wenlong would see it immediately upon opening the door.
The bastard’s men, let him deal with them himself.
Closing the door, Jiang Fei went downstairs and returned the spare room card to Qiu Qiu:
“I haven’t been here tonight.”
Qiu Qiu instantly understood Jiang Fei’s meaning: “I will keep Miss Jiang’s secret.”
Leaving the hotel, Jiang Fei arrived at Father Mo’s courtyard house.
Taking out 100 bags of frozen dumplings to fill the trunk and seats, Jiang Fei got out and knocked on the door.
Father Mo was asleep, so the butler settled the bill with Jiang Fei.
“Each bag contains 50 dumplings, for a total of 5000 dumplings.”
“According to the price Mr. Mo gave you, one dumpling is 100 grams of gold, totaling 500 kilograms.”
“Miss Jiang, please wait a moment, I will have someone fetch the gold.”
Soon, the butler returned with several bodyguards, who carried boxes of gold into the car.
Jiang Fei started the car and drove away from the courtyard, then stored the gold in the Supermarket.

Finally, it wasn’t just 1% short!
—
Late at night.
A drunken Pei Wenlong swiped his room card and entered his room, his shoulder wound bandaged, cursing under his breath.
“A bunch of snobs who won’t lift a finger to help!”
“They see I’ve offended Kyoto Base, so they won’t lend me supplies, and they put on a show of being poor. Damn it, do they think I don’t know they frequently rob survivors on the road?!”
“It’s only a thousand boxes of supplies, it’s not like I don’t have them! I just can’t bear to use them…”
Thinking about it, Pei Wenlong felt a suffocating pain in his chest. He pulled the curtains, wanting to sleep.
Bang—!
Something fell to the ground.
He looked down.
It was his subordinate’s corpse, eyes wide open, staring at him.
Pei Wenlong was so scared he almost screamed.
Hadn’t his subordinate gone to kill Jiang Fei?
How could he be dead, and appear in his room?
His alcohol-numbed brain was a mess, unable to think. Pei Wenlong stumbled towards the bathroom, wanting to splash some water on his face to sober up.
He opened the door and saw the corpse on the toilet.
“Holy shit!” Pei Wenlong collapsed to the ground, completely sobered up.
His subordinates, whom he sent to kill Jiang Fei, were all dead… Could it be that Jiang Fei knew he was the mastermind, and so she hid the corpses here to warn him?
Pei Wenlong reached for the call button on the wall to summon a service attendant, then suddenly stopped.
He couldn’t explain his subordinate’s death.
Asking his other brothers for help was even worse; if they got drunk and spilled the beans, it would be troublesome.
Unable to ask anyone else, Pei Wenlong could only take tools and dismember the bodies himself, then pack them into bags and dispose of them in batches.
Afterwards, he would also have to clean up the bloodstains in the room.
A sleepless night was guaranteed.
Jiang Fei, however, was comfortably sleeping in Villa No. 11, hugging Big Yellow.
The next day, she had just finished washing up after waking when the intercom rang.
Mo Yan’an: “Sister Jiang Fei, the discussion meeting starts at 8 o’clock, we should leave.”
“Okay.” Jiang Fei quickly took out a bag of fish paste to feed Big Yellow and then left the house.
Mo Yan’an’s car was already parked outside.
Today’s driver was Uncle Liu.
Jiang Fei got into her off-road vehicle, followed behind Mo Yan’an’s car, and drove to the Central Building.
Uncle Liu stayed in the car to wait for them.
Mo Yan’an led Jiang Fei inside, took the elevator to the top floor conference room.
More than a dozen people were seated around a round table.
They were all representatives from various bases, as well as important personnel from Kyoto.
Cheng Pingwei sat at the head of the table, Shao Ziyue from the Cultivation Park was on his left, and the seat on his right was empty, reserved for Mo Yan’an.
Merchants were not qualified to sit at the conference table; their seats were in the corner.
Bottled drinking water and freshly cut fruit were on the table.
Jiang Fei walked over and found an empty seat.
As she passed Zhou Wanqing, she nodded at her, a form of greeting.
At exactly 8 o’clock, Shao Ziyue looked at an empty chair not far away.
“Base Leader, Pei Wenlong, the representative from Fengquan City, hasn’t arrived yet. Should we wait for him?”
“No, we won’t.”
No sooner had Cheng Pingwei spoken than the conference room door opened.
Pei Wenlong rushed in and took his seat.
His rude behavior displeased the people from Kyoto.
“Being late is one thing, but you don’t even know to knock before entering. Didn’t anyone teach you manners at home?”
“Boss Pei certainly has a lot of nerve, so many of us waiting for just you. Why don’t we hold the next discussion meeting in Fengquan City, so we don’t have to get up early to attend.”
“The base isn’t big, but his ego certainly is.”
Pei Wenlong’s face turned ugly from the remarks.
Noticing that Jiang Fei was also there, sitting in the corner, he couldn’t help but glare at her.
If it weren’t for that little bitch hiding corpses in his room, he would have spent the entire night busy destroying evidence, only sleeping at sunrise. How else could he have failed to wake up and be late?!
Noticing Pei Wenlong’s fierce gaze, Jiang Fei acted as if nothing was amiss, sampling the fruit on the table.
So sweet.
Thump thump—
Cheng Pingwei tapped the table twice, signaling everyone to quiet down.
“The meeting begins.”
Everyone started chattering, and Jiang Fei listened while eating in the back.
Only then did she learn that after Kyoto’s experts discovered the coming polar day, they had prepared in advance.
Firstly, they had factories produce heat-insulating cloth, sun-protection film, sunshades, and other light-blocking and insulating items to ensure that humans would not be affected by temperature changes and their biological clocks would not be disrupted.
Secondly, they had the Research Institute develop medicines to boost immunity and treat mental health issues.
This was to prevent residents from developing anxiety, irritability, and other psychological problems from prolonged exposure to sunlight.
At that time, Kyoto would produce a large quantity of medicines and protective gear, which would be provided to various bases for use.
In exchange, they had to provide raw materials, as well as the supplies Kyoto needed.
After all, Kyoto Base had the largest factories and the most research personnel.
These bases needed to rely on Kyoto to get through the polar day.
Shao Ziyue: “Currently, the basic living needs of humanity can be guaranteed. The only unresolved issue is cultivation.”
“Although plants need sunlight to grow, they cannot remain in such an environment indefinitely.”
“Especially now, plant mutations are very abnormal, and we don’t know what will happen in the future.”
“If, after the plant mutations end, the land reverts to its previous state where anything planted dies, then humanity will face a major food crisis.”
Pei Wenlong suddenly spoke: “If we can’t grow food in the fields, then we’ll just eat instant packaged food.”
