30: Use this, it's faster than a knife

Jiang Fei no longer went to the supply point on the 21st floor, instead diligently learning about planting with Ling Zhaorui.

With Zhu Zi and his group there, and the gun she left for Chu Xia, no one dared to cause trouble.

The bok choy planted earlier had already grown strong, proving the Supermarket's soil was fertile enough, so Jiang Fei simply stayed indoors, focusing on dividing the planting areas.

The space outside the Supermarket was very large.

If it wasn't divided, she wouldn't know what was planted where later on.

Jiang Fei took out the farming tools stored in the Supermarket warehouse, fenced off an area, and chose easy-to-grow crops: pumpkins, potatoes, peppers, spinach, and carrots.

She then found several wooden boards and wrote the variety on each area.

After finishing all this, Jiang Fei was already aching all over.

She didn't have much money, so the farming tools she bought were all manual, which was time-consuming and laborious.

It seemed she needed to find time to acquire a batch of agricultural machinery.

Things like planters, harvesters, sprayers, and irrigation machines could greatly improve efficiency.

It would be best if someone could help.

Thinking of this, Jiang Fei couldn't help but exit the Supermarket, went next door, and retrieved a jar containing live centipedes.

Immediately after, she entered the Supermarket with her mind, but her hands were empty.

She exited the Supermarket, and the jar had already fallen to the ground and shattered, with several centipedes crawling out.

Jiang Fei quickly dealt with them, unable to hide her disappointment.

No living thing, other than herself, could enter the Supermarket.

What a pity, she had wanted to catch a few 'tool-people' to work.

After a simple dinner, Jiang Fei returned to her room to catch up on sleep.

After two days of non-stop planting in the Supermarket, she felt like her body wasn't her own anymore.

Jiang Fei slept until the afternoon of the next day, took out a serving of braised chicken with rice for brunch, and after eating her fill, went downstairs.

At the staircase on the 21st floor.

Chu Xia had just finished collecting bugs and was packing the bottles into boxes, ready to move them upstairs later.

Ling Zhaorui, meanwhile, sat on a chair, helping to organize the gold jewelry they had received.

Zhu Zi and the others were nowhere to be seen; they had likely left after getting their supplies.

Seeing Jiang Fei come down, Chu Xia feigned a complaint: “Miss, you finally decided to come out! I haven't seen you for almost a week!”

“I've been resting lately,” Jiang Fei explained, looking at the clock on the table: “Why did you take the clock down?”

“We have enough centipedes and cockroaches, and they don't have any more gold, so I thought about canceling the supply point.”

Jiang Fei agreed with Chu Xia's decision.

The supply point had been set up for almost half a month, and the supplies she had put out in the open should be depleted.

Otherwise, people in Building A would suspect whether the 22nd floor had an inexhaustible “gold mine.”

Chu Xia suddenly became secretive: “Miss, I found out something about Sister Jiang.”

“These past few days you've been gone, Sister Jiang has been waiting downstairs every day, finding people to sleep with her, and then exchanging for supplies to support Li Yanping and Jiang Zhengkang.”

“I overheard them talking; originally, Li Yanping wanted to do this, but she was too old, and no one wanted her, so Sister Jiang had no choice but to sell her body.”

“However, Jiang Zhengkang doesn't know about this; Li Yanping and Sister Jiang lied that they exchanged bugs for supplies.”

Jiang Fei's gaze was mocking.

Li Yanping used to cherish Jiang Zixuan the most, yet now, for a bite to eat, she was willing to let her sleep with men; it was truly ironic.

“Sister Jiang, this is the gold we've received recently, exactly two kilograms.”

Ling Zhaorui, mimicking Zhu Zi's address for Jiang Fei, handed her the gold.

Under the cover of her backpack, Jiang Fei took the gold and put it into the Supermarket.

System: [Ding—Detected gold: 2000 grams.]

[Current unlock progress for the second area on the 2nd floor: 15%]

Still a long way from 32000 grams of gold.

Jiang Fei really missed Crippled Wang.

Who wouldn't like a sheep that could spit gold?

Thoughts aside, Jiang Fei helped Chu Xia carry all the boxes of bugs upstairs.

Ling Zhaorui, meanwhile, limped back to his room with his trekking pole to recover from his injuries.

Because Chu Xia was going to stay indoors to make medicine, Jiang Fei left her a few bags of food and then left.

Back at 2202, Jiang Fei pulled open the curtains, which had been closed, wanting to see the current situation, but found that there were far fewer cockroaches and centipedes outside.

The accumulated water had receded from the 11th floor to the 8th floor.

In her previous life, typhoons and heavy rain appeared first, followed by cockroaches, centipedes, rats, poisonous mosquitoes, water snakes, and then extreme cold.

In this life, the order of natural disasters had changed, and the duration of each disaster had also changed.

She wondered what would appear next.

—

The next day.

Jiang Fei, who was sleeping in, was woken by the doorbell outside.

After the red-eyed rats disappeared, Lu Yu reconnected the electric door's doorbell, not worried about the generator being exposed, as people's main concern now was food.

But for safety, the electricity inside the three homes still couldn't be used temporarily, to prevent any cockroaches or centipedes Chu Xia caught from accidentally escaping and biting through the wires.

Jiang Fei habitually carried her knife out the door.

2201 didn't have a doorbell, so Chu Xia wasn't disturbed.

Lu Yu from 03, however, came out with a gun, followed by Da Huang, his little shadow.

After some time, Little Orange Cat had grown a bit, and its chubby little face was even rounder.

So cute.

If only it were hers.

Jiang Fei fantasized as usual, then opened the electric door.

It was Ling Zhaorui.

“Sister Jiang, the people downstairs know you've canceled the supply point and are causing a ruckus at the staircase on the 21st floor.”

“Now Zhu Zi and his brothers are blocking them downstairs, but they probably won't last long. I came up to ask you what to do.”

Jiang Fei's eyes were cold: “I'll handle it.”

“Wait for me.” Lu Yu said, then took the running Da Huang back to 2203.

Soon, Lu Yu returned with a machine gun.

“This is for you; use this, it's faster than a knife.”

Jiang Fei took the machine gun, her mood subtle.

Indeed, her neighbor was a weapon arsenal!

—

The staircase on the 21st floor was packed with a dense crowd of people.

“Let Jiang Fei come out! Why could we exchange supplies a few days ago, but not now?! She must give us an explanation!”

“We'll starve without food, and we're not taking it for free, so why cancel the supply point?”

“Do you know how much effort I put into finding these centipedes?! You can't just say you're not exchanging anymore!”

People shouted, talking over each other, and as they tried to rush past the human wall Zhu Zi had built to go upstairs, bang bang bang—

Bullets sprayed the wall, creating a series of sparks.

Everyone screamed and squatted down, covering their heads.

After a moment, the 21st floor fell silent.

Jiang Fei walked downstairs with the machine gun: “I set up the supply point to collect bugs and gold, not to do charity.”

“Now we've collected enough, and we don't have many supplies left. If we don't cancel, are we supposed to exchange trash with you? Would you agree?”

At these words, everyone fell silent.

Without food, who would be willing to exchange with the 22nd floor?

“If you cause trouble upstairs again, next time the bullets won't hit the wall.”

As soon as Jiang Fei finished speaking, a muffled loudspeaker sound came from outside—

“Attention residents of Lincheng, in 10 minutes, a batch of wooden crates containing supplies will be dropped onto the water. Please retrieve them safely, do not fight over them, and do not waste them.”

“Attention residents of Lincheng...”

The loudspeaker repeated the broadcast, and everyone excitedly looked out the corridor window.

Several helicopters hovered in the air.

“It's the officials!”

“The officials are finally here to save us! I'll never have to starve again!”

“Quick, let's go! Go retrieve the supplies!”

People happily ran downstairs, all their previous ferocity gone.

Lu Yu asked Jiang Fei: “Are you going to retrieve some?”

Jiang Fei shook her head.

She had enough supplies; there was no need to compete with ordinary people.

Lu Yu also had no intention of going, and turned to go upstairs.

The food in his home could last for a while; he didn't need to fight tooth and nail outside.

Jiang Fei looked at Ling Zhaorui: “If you want to get some, I can help you.”

Ling Zhaorui had said he couldn't swim.

And his legs were inconvenient; if he was pushed into the water, it would be a wasted rescue.

As for Xiao Hua Lao, she could afford to keep it.

Unexpectedly, Ling Zhaorui refused: “Actually, I still haven't finished the batch of supplies I brought back from the media company.”

He only ate one meal a day, and with the supplies Jiang Fei gave him, he still had two boxes left.

Jiang Fei: “Then you go back first. I'll take the gun home, then go to 2103 to find you. I have some planting questions I'd like to ask you.”

“Okay.”

After Ling Zhaorui went home, Jiang Fei went upstairs, put the machine gun into the Supermarket warehouse, waited for a while, then went down.

Just then, a strange voice sounded—

“Are you going downstairs to retrieve supplies?”
