308: Chaotic Moss City

Jiang Fei slammed on the brakes.

The car stopped about a meter away from the man.

However, he ran over and sprawled on the hood.

"Ouch! You hit me!"

It was a blatant attempt at insurance fraud.

Xiao Chuxia, in the passenger seat, immediately opened the window and retorted:

"You're asking for it, crashing into someone's car, and then claiming we hit you? Did the ultraviolet rays of the polar day melt your face?"

"If you don't want your eyes and brain, dig them out, dry them, and you can have a full meal, tasting your own stupidity."

"How dare you speak like that?! You clearly hit me!" The man insisted that Jiang Fei and Xiao Chuxia were the culprits.

Just two women, easy to deal with.

The people around them cast their gazes.

Their eyes, fixed on the car, were sinister, like hungry wolves spotting food.

Being able to drive a car in Mos City meant they had some supplies.

If this man succeeded with his fraud, they could also try; it would be much easier than robbing.

"Pay up quickly!" The man banged on the hood, threatening:

"Give me whatever supplies you have! Otherwise, you won't be leaving today! And you can forget about your car!"

Taking in everyone's reactions, Jiang Fei leaned out of the car window:

"Are you sure you're not getting down?"

"No! If you've got the guts, run me over and kill me!"

The man spoke shamelessly.

Suddenly, the car started and lurched forward.

The man on the hood was thrown to the ground, and just as he was about to get up, bang—!

"Ah!!!"

Jiang Fei floored the accelerator, driving over and breaking the man's leg.

Immediately after, she reversed and drove forward again.

A crunching sound, similar to a watermelon bursting, rang out.

The man's wails were drowned beneath the blood-soaked tires.

Jiang Fei turned her head, scanning the onlookers, and said in English:

"Who else has such a request? Speak up, and I'll satisfy them all."

Her calm tone, however, made people's hearts pound.

The people who had originally wanted to try the fraud wisely left.

They silently remembered the car's appearance.

The owner was a lunatic; they would steer clear if they ever encountered her again.

Jiang Fei drove to the main street of Mos City.

This was considered the city's trading market, with many people setting up stalls on the roadside.

Each stall owner held weapons such as clubs, knives, and guns to prevent people from welching on debts or robbing them.

Choosing a shady spot to park, Jiang Fei opened the trunk and placed a wooden sign with prices written on it.

At the same time, she took out two small stools and two machine guns, giving one to Xiao Chuxia.

The machine gun had a strap, and Xiao Chuxia hung it over her body.

"Miss, there's an empty shop over there. Should we inquire about how to buy one and open a store?"

Jiang Fei: "Mos City is too chaotic; it's not suitable for opening a shop."

"There's no order in the city; dying is as common as eating. Opening a shop would make us a living target, waiting for people to come and rob us."

Recalling the fraud incident that had just occurred, Xiao Chuxia also dispelled that notion, sighing, "Our country is still safe."

"Even in the apocalypse, the country has always tried to maintain order and create a stable life for us."

At this moment, two foreign men walked over.

One of them pointed to the wooden sign on the trunk and asked in English, "Can the beer be cheaper?"

Jiang Fei: "No."

Noticing the machine guns on them, the two foreign men whispered a few words.

Jiang Fei and Xiao Chuxia could vaguely hear muffled words.

"They have guns... can't beat them... don't rob them... buy it."

A moment later, the two men pulled out a golden pocket watch and a signet ring from their pockets.

"You see how many grams these are."

"Please wait, I need to take them to the car to check." Jiang Fei took the pocket watch and the signet ring and went to the car's back seat.

In reality, she put them into the Supermarket warehouse.

System: [Ding – Gold detected: 5 grams]

It had been a long time since she had received such a small weight of gold.

Returning to the stall, Jiang Fei told the two men the weight.

For her first time setting up a stall, Jiang Fei's prices were all very low.

One bottle of beer was 200 grams of gold.

The two men couldn't afford it, so they only bought a bag of instant noodles that had crumbled into powder.

They dared not suspect Jiang Fei of cheating them on the weight.

The other party had a gun; even if she really did cheat them, there was nothing they could do.

With an extra car stall on the main street, passing pedestrians were successively attracted.

Although Jiang Fei only had expired, old-looking supplies, and a small quantity, there was a wide variety.

Instant noodles, ham sausages, beer, bread, old rice, loose-packed noodles, coarse salt, lollipops.

However, most people didn't have gold.

Who would have thought that the least valuable gold in the apocalypse could one day be used to buy supplies?

Some people wanted to get things for free, but seeing Jiang Fei and Xiao Chuxia's machine guns, those little thoughts quickly died down.

They couldn't dodge machine gun fire.

Someone brought a bar of soap they had found while scavenging and asked Jiang Fei:

"Can I exchange this soap for a bundle of loose-packed noodles?"

Jiang Fei ruthlessly refused: "No, I only accept gold."

"Then will you come tomorrow?"

"How long will you be here today?"

There was a lot of unwanted gold in the city and outside; they needed to go find it.

"We'll be here until evening today, and we'll come tomorrow too, but the items might be different."

"Because what we sell are all things our friends found while scavenging."

Jiang Fei spoke nonsense with open eyes, pushing the source of the supplies onto the scavenging trio.

Knowing that Jiang Fei would be there all day, everyone went to look for gold.

Instead of painstakingly searching for supplies, it was better to look for gold.

That stuff was left on the ground and no one picked it up; it was much easier to find than supplies.

Before long, a few people who had found gold returned first.

Jiang Fei took them to the car and put them into the Supermarket.

Only after confirming the gold's weight did she let them choose items.

However, after half a day of busy work, Jiang Fei only sold 108 grams.

Mos City was even poorer than she had imagined.

Jiang Fei sighed with melancholy, then suddenly heard a clumsy Chinese sentence, with a Japanese person's accent.

"All the beer, I want it."

A bald man showed two gold bars.

"A Japanese person?"

The bald man proudly raised his head: "That's right."

"I didn't expect you, a Huaxia person, to have such good eyesight, recognizing my unique temperament."

"The extra gold is your reward."

Jiang Fei, however, didn't take the gold and immediately raised the price: "Three bottles of beer are 100,000 grams; you haven't given enough."

Since he was a Japanese person, he definitely needed special treatment.

"Your sign doesn't say that!" The bald man said with a dark face:

"I can read English and your country's characters; don't try to fool me."

"Buy it or don't." Jiang Fei impatiently raised her machine gun.

I've already blown up your home, why would I be afraid of you?

Facing the machine gun, the bald man suppressed the anger in his heart: "Baka! You just wait!"

Throwing down a harsh threat, the bald man turned and left.

Jiang Fei was fearless.

As long as the Japanese person dared to come, she would kill him.

Stalling until 7 PM, Jiang Fei sold a total of 153 grams of gold.

She hoped to sell more tomorrow.

Jiang Fei thought, then packed up with Xiao Chuxia, preparing to go home.

The temperature had been warm and comfortable when they left in the morning, but now it had dropped and the wind had picked up, making people shiver from the cold.

Even the sunlight on one's body didn't feel warm.

"It feels like the temperature is below zero."

Xiao Chuxia said as she got into the passenger seat.

Fearing Xiao Chuxia might be cold, Jiang Fei got in the car and turned on the air conditioning.

Just as they drove out of the main street, bang, bang, bang—!

Bullets hit the car, making dull thudding sounds.

Jiang Fei quickly pushed Xiao Chuxia's head down and immediately reversed.

Several people ambushed at the intersection chased after them on motorcycles.

One of the men was none other than the Japanese person who had failed to buy anything earlier in the day.

He arrogantly shouted at Jiang Fei:

"Trash! Don't run!"

"What's a machine gun? We have eight!"

"Go to hell!"

The bald man raised his machine gun and frantically fired at Jiang Fei's Jetta.

Crash—

The front windshield shattered.

Fortunately, Jiang Fei and Xiao Chuxia were wearing straw hats and were not cut by the flying glass.

Taking out a small bomb, Jiang Fei threw it out through the shattered car window.

"What is that thing..." Before the bald man could react, boom—!

With a deafening explosion, the other party, car and people alike, were blown into scattered fragments.

Including the bald man's few subordinates.

Jiang Fei looked up coldly at the distant flames.

Idiot.

I have bombs.

After dealing with the bald man, Jiang Fei checked her body.

Thankfully, neither she nor Xiao Chuxia were injured.

Driving the damaged car to a secluded, uninhabited area, Jiang Fei replaced it with a new, old-model Jetta.

It was no different from the original one.

She had found them both while scavenging for supplies in the past.

Xiao Chuxia worried: "Miss, that Japanese person has guns and subordinates; he should have some influence in Mos City. Let's find another place to set up our stall tomorrow."

"I'm afraid his people will come for revenge."

Jiang Fei: "It's fine, I'll handle it."

Previously, she was restricted by the base and couldn't act freely, but now it was different.

Mos City had no rules to speak of.

The one thing her Supermarket warehouse had no shortage of was weapons and bombs.

Driving back to the Tube Building, Jiang Fei and Xiao Chuxia had just stepped into 301 when Lu Yu and his two companions returned.

Their backpacks were all bulging.

Closing the door, Su Liuyuan excitedly spoke:

"Captain, we found something good!"
