69: Bandits! Two bandits!

Jiang Fei followed Lu Yu up to the second floor of the villa.

The master bedroom was a suite; upon entering, one could see a luxurious sofa by the floor-to-ceiling window and a wall filled with antique porcelain.

Lu Yu walked to the large bed inside, removed the mattress, revealing the storage bed frame underneath.

As the bed frame lid was lifted, rows of pure black suitcases came into their view.

Lu Yu took out the nearest suitcase, opened it, and there were 20 diamonds, each the size of an egg.

“Wrong one,” Lu Yu closed it casually and picked up another suitcase.

This time, it contained neatly arranged gold bars; there were 50 on the first layer alone.

Jiang Fei’s eyes lit up.

So Su Liuyuan was a Xiao Jin Yang!

A few minutes later, Lu Yu found three suitcases full of gold: “Are there any jewels or diamonds in the other boxes that you like?”

“No, just the gold.”

Jiang Fei stared at the suitcases, her usual indifference replaced by a glimmer of desire in her eyes, making her seem inexplicably well-behaved.

A smile, which Lu Yu himself hadn't noticed, spread in the depths of his eyes as he moved the suitcases out, seemingly casually asking, “I remember I was still conscious when we fell into the ice pit, so why did I pass out?”

“I don’t know. You suddenly collapsed onto the car seat. Maybe you accidentally hit your head and got a concussion,” Jiang Fei said earnestly, her gaze frank.

Lu Yu smiled without speaking.

He could distinguish between a concussion and a sore neck.

Since the neighbor wasn't willing to tell the truth, there was no need to press further; they were safe now, anyway.

After placing all the suitcases on the table, Lu Yu went to the wardrobe and found another box.

It contained over a dozen small dark blue bottles and two boxes of medicine.

“The blue bottles contain medicinal powder for external injuries; they can stop bleeding, relieve pain, reduce inflammation, sterilize, and promote wound healing.”

“The white box medicine is a special medicine that can treat most diseases and viruses. We’ll split it half and half.”

Jiang Fei looked curiously at the medicine box in her hand; it contained only six white pills.

There was no name or instructions on the box, only the dosage—

“One pill at a time, once a day.”

It looked very much like a product without a brand, quality certificate, or manufacturer.

If she hadn't seen how miraculous the blue bottle of medicinal powder was before, she would really have thought Lu Yu was teasing her.

Seeing Lu Yu go to get a suitcase and start packing clothes from the wardrobe, Jiang Fei, with her remaining conscience, asked, “Is this really okay for us to do?”

Taking advantage of Su Liuyuan's absence to ransack his home.

“He will agree.”

After packing the clothes, Lu Yu went downstairs, one hand holding a suitcase, the other holding gold bars.

Jiang Fei followed behind, carrying a suitcase of gold bars in each hand.

Coincidentally, Su Liuyuan returned from the back door at that moment and was stunned to see what they were carrying.

“You… raided my house?”

Lu Yu corrected him: “It’s your protection fee.”

“It’s not safe for you to live here alone; you can come back to Yulan Garden with us.”

“Resources are scarce now. Is it appropriate for you to go live at someone else’s house without taking anything?”

Jiang Fei silently gave Lu Yu a thumbs up.

Her teammate was better at bluffing than her!

Look, he could make looting sound so righteous!

Su Liuyuan hugged the suitcase Lu Yu was carrying: “Whose protection fee requires three boxes of gold?! Can’t I just pay one?!”

“Is your life worthless?”

Lu Yu whispered again: “Those rats already know you’re in Ze’an County, and they will definitely send more people over.”

“Once your whereabouts are exposed, and they discover the villa, they will not only kill you but also ransack this place.”

“Lincheng is now managed by the authorities, making it safer than Ze’an County.”

The organization wouldn't dare cause trouble under the authorities' noses.

If Su Liuyuan didn't move, the villa wouldn't be safe.

Knowing that Lu Yu was doing it for his own good, Su Liuyuan struggled to bargain: “Can’t it really be cheaper?”

“Then you’ll have to ask my captain, Jiang Fei.”

Jiang Fei slung the suitcase behind her back, telling Su Liuyuan with her actions that returning the gold bars was impossible.

Su Liuyuan gritted his teeth: “Three boxes it is! But you can’t take the jewelry and diamonds upstairs!”

“And the clothes and a box of medicine,” Lu Yu added unhurriedly, then went to the car outside to put the boxes in.

Su Liuyuan was so angry that he went upstairs and locked the door.

Bandits!

Two bandits!

After mourning the lost gold for a while, Su Liuyuan led Jiang Fei and the others to the large warehouse behind the villa, opening the sturdy anti-theft door.

Inside the warehouse were over twenty 5-meter-high iron shelves, a flamboyant pink sports car, and a silver-gray MPV multi-purpose vehicle.

Some of the iron shelves were covered with dust cloths, so the items on them couldn't be seen.

On the uncovered iron shelves were various supplies.

Medicine, gasoline, diesel, kerosene, tung oil, snake wine, anesthetic, eavesdropping equipment, thermal imagers, complete deerskins, and so on.

Xu Qianyao smacked his lips: “Your warehouse… is a bit suspicious.”

“Most of them are fake, just for show,” Su Liuyuan said, guiltily changing the subject:

“You can take all the medicine on these two iron shelves.”

Consider it hush money!

Xu Qianyao checked the medicine on the shelves; more than half of it was what Lincheng currently needed.

“We can complete the mission directly!” Xu Qianyao happily told the Rescue Team members to move the medicine.

Su Liuyuan went to pack his luggage.

The sports car was too conspicuous to drive, but the MPV was fine.

It was spacious, comfortable to ride in, and could hold many things.

Making sure no one was paying attention, Su Liuyuan and Lu Yu secretly put some of the weapons hidden under the dust cloth into the car.

Soon after, the Rescue Team finished moving all the medicine, and Su Liuyuan re-locked the iron door.

A Rescue Team member asked a question: “Aren’t you afraid that after you leave, someone will break in and take your things?”

“Both the warehouse and the villa are built with special materials, earthquake-proof and explosion-proof, comparable in quality to a spaceship. Let alone typhoons or earthquakes, you can’t blow them open with bombs,” Su Liuyuan said proudly.

Xu Qianyao narrowed his eyes: “The country strictly controls this kind of material. Where did you get it from?”

“Kid, the more I look at you, the more suspicious you seem.”

“Uh… actually, I was just bragging. How could anyone come to such a remote place? Let’s go quickly while it’s still light!”

Su Liuyuan chuckled dryly and ran off, incidentally removing all the villa’s generators, along with the gasoline and diesel, and giving them to Xu Qianyao for free.

The MPV was basically filled by Su Liuyuan, so Lu Yu didn’t squeeze in; he and Jiang Fei still got into Xu Qianyao’s pickup truck.

The team set off and arrived in Lincheng late at night.

Since he had to deliver the medicine, Xu Qianyao planned to leave after dropping Jiang Fei and Lu Yu off at Yulan Garden.

Before leaving, he gave them four walkie-talkies.

“Consider it a return gift for Su Liuyuan giving us the generators.”

“As long as he doesn’t do anything bad, I’ll keep the villa in the desolate mountains a secret.”

After all, Su Liuyuan had contributed a lot of medicine, so Xu Qianyao could pretend not to know.

After the Rescue Team left, Jiang Fei and Lu Yu helped Su Liuyuan move his supplies.

There were a total of five large boxes, plus three deerskins.

The three of them carried the items and walked upstairs, while the MPV was hidden near the pickup truck that Crippled Wang had given them.

Everyone was resting at this time, and the apartment building was quiet.

Nearing the 17th floor, a suppressed sob sounded.

Jiang Fei, who was walking in front, turned on her flashlight to illuminate the area.

The person sitting on the steps stood up in a panic but froze when she saw Jiang Fei.

“Fei Fei…”

Jiang Zhengkang’s eyes were bloodshot, and his clothes and hands were covered in dried bloodstains.

1701 was unusually quiet.

A guess rose in Jiang Fei’s mind: “Li Yanping is dead?”

This sentence seemed to break Jiang Zhengkang’s psychological defense. He covered his face and squatted down, crying bitterly: “I didn’t want to… Li Yanping forced me…”

“She had a cold and a fever, and she kept clamoring for meat to nourish her body. She even wanted to cut my flesh while I was sleeping. I didn’t control my strength well and hit her with a rock, killing her…”

“I really didn’t want Li Yanping’s life…” Jiang Zhengkang kept repeating this sentence.

Li Yanping dying at Jiang Zhengkang’s hands was quite dramatic.

She had thought Jiang Zhengkang would never resist in this lifetime.

Jiang Fei thought, walked around Jiang Zhengkang, and went upstairs, but she was called back.

“Fei Fei, can I go live on the 21st floor?”
