52: Is Rhubarb sick?

“If you kneel and beg me, I might consider giving you coal.”

Lin Bo said arrogantly, when suddenly Jiang Fei grabbed him by the collar and dragged him to the table.

The next moment, a sharp dagger was pressed against his neck.

“You, what do you want to do?! There’s an official Patrol Team outside!”

“Do you think they’re faster, or is my knife faster?”

Jiang Fei applied a little pressure, and the dagger sliced open Lin Bo’s skin, drawing a line of blood.

Her calm yet contemptuous gaze made killing Lin Bo seem as simple as crushing an ant.

Lin Bo completely caved: “I’ll get you the supplies right away!”

He didn’t want to die!

“Don’t bother me again.”

Jiang Fei withdrew the dagger, took the four large bags Lin Bo brought, and went upstairs.

Lin Bo, still in the same spot, slid onto a chair, touching his injured neck with lingering fear.

He had to apply to move to a different place today! He never wanted to see this madwoman again!

—

Jiang Fei delivered supplies to Ling Zhaorui and Xiao Chuxia, and when it was Lu Yu’s turn, she noticed something.

Lu Yu, usually so calm and composed, now had a deep frown and looked somewhat tired.

Through the open door, Jiang Fei saw Da Huang lying listlessly on the sofa.

There was also a puddle of uncleaned yellow liquid on the floor.

“What’s wrong with Da Huang?”

“It’s sick. It’s been vomiting since yesterday morning. I’ve given it probiotics and hairball remedies, but there’s been no improvement.”

Lu Yu sighed: “Da Huang hasn’t eaten anything all day, not even drunk water.”

Jiang Fei had never owned a cat and didn’t know about this, so she called Xiao Chuxia from 2201.

Perhaps Xiao Hua Lao would know something.

Upon learning about Da Huang’s condition, Xiao Chuxia, like Jiang Fei and Lu Yu, looked completely blank.

“I study Traditional Chinese Medicine, so I don’t know much about veterinary medicine, but Da Huang keeps throwing up and isn’t eating or drinking, which definitely isn’t good. Are there any anti-emetics or nutrient solutions?”

Lu Yu: “None…”

It was his first time owning a cat, and he had moved into a new home before the apocalypse. Besides weapons and necessities, he hadn’t fully stocked up on many things.

Jiang Fei didn’t have these things either, so she packed a bag of food and went downstairs, hoping to ask others if they had anti-emetics or knew a vet.

However, she found nothing. No one in Building A owned pets, so they wouldn’t have pet medicine at home.

It was Feng Chenlu who gave Jiang Fei a piece of news.

“The Ya’an Comprehensive Market sells flowers, birds, fish, cats, and dogs. It’s considered Lin City’s pet street. You could try your luck there; you might find medicine or survivors who know about pet care.”

“But the Ya’an Comprehensive Market is a bit far from Yulan Garden, over on Fenglin Road. The accumulated water outside has frozen over, making it difficult to walk.”

“Thank you.” Jiang Fei gave all the food to Feng Chenlu, and without waiting for her to refuse, immediately returned to the 22nd floor.

“We’re going out to find medicine now.”

Lu Yu: “The frozen water surface isn’t safe. I’ll go by myself.”

“Going together will help us find it faster.”

Staying in a warm room all the time would make people unable to withstand a sudden drop in temperature.

Ling Zhaorui and Xiao Chuxia both needed to go out and adapt.

Jiang Fei found several pairs of non-slip shoes and cold-weather clothing in different sizes from 2202 for them to choose from.

Lu Yu didn’t decline again, silently noting his neighbor’s kindness.

While the three went to change clothes, Jiang Fei took out her fully charged, unused phone and took photos and videos of Da Huang’s condition and vomit.

It was cold outside, so she couldn’t take Da Huang with her. She could only record its condition to make it easier to ask people later.

Dressed in their warm suits and non-slip shoes, Jiang Fei and the three others each took a trekking pole and left the building.

Some parts of the water surface weren't solidly frozen, and they could collapse and fall through, so they had to use their trekking poles to test the path and walk cautiously.

The cold wind was biting, and most survivors were hiding at home for warmth. Even with the frozen water, no one ventured out.

Nearly an hour passed.

Jiang Fei and Lu Yu stopped, one after the other.

Lu Yu whispered: “Someone is following us.”

“I brought a silencer.”

Under the cover of her down jacket, Jiang Fei took out two silenced pistols, quietly gave one to Lu Yu, and whispered, “They won’t dare to shoot on the street. Lure them into that alley over there; it’ll be easier to deal with them.”

Lu Yu nodded and walked towards the place Jiang Fei mentioned.

Ling Zhaorui and Xiao Chuxia didn't know the way to the Ya'an Comprehensive Market and thought Lu Yu was going the right way, so they quickly followed.

As soon as they reached the alley, they suddenly heard a series of muffled thuds.

Jiang Fei and Lu Yu fired simultaneously, quickly taking care of the five people who had followed them to the alley entrance.

One of them, seeing the situation was bad, tried to escape but was shot in the leg by Jiang Fei.

The man fell onto the ice with a thud, clenching his teeth and swallowing the painful scream.

His unusual reaction made Jiang Fei suspicious.

Especially since these five people were wearing warm clothes and had rosy complexions, they didn't look like ordinary people lacking supplies.

Jiang Fei raised her hand, signaling Lu Yu not to shoot, then stepped on the man’s shot left leg, slowly grinding down.

“Why were you following us?”

The man trembled violently from the pain and couldn't help but speak: “Boss sent us…”

“You tortured Jiang Zixuan so badly, Boss couldn’t swallow that anger, so he ordered us to return it to you twofold…”

Jiang Zixuan’s family was now with Sun Deqiang.

The Boss the man mentioned was Sun Deqiang.

Jiang Fei suddenly remembered the tiger pattern she had seen on the assault boat, and her eyes darkened: “You are from Tiger Suppression Gang.”

“That’s right… I’ve told you everything, can you let me go now…”

A faint gunshot.

The man’s last word caught in his throat. He lay on the ice with wide eyes, a bullet hole in his brow.

Jiang Fei’s expression was uncharacteristically grave.

She hadn’t expected Sun Deqiang to be the Boss of Tiger Suppression Gang.

It was easy to imagine how much trouble the other party would bring her.

Xiao Chuxia looked worried: “Miss, Tiger Suppression Gang acts ruthlessly. What should we do now?”

Jiang Fei also had no idea: “Let’s find the medicine first, then discuss it when we get back.”

—

The comprehensive market buildings were all two or three stories high, and the height of the ice was similar to that in Yulan Garden.

The doors and windows on the second and third floors were damaged by the typhoon and heavy rain, leaving every store in a mess, with a few frozen animal carcasses.

Survivors were few and far between, mostly elderly people huddled weakly in corners.

Perhaps having given up hope, their expressions didn’t change when they saw Jiang Fei and the others outside, only occasionally coughing.

Even when Jiang Fei spoke, no one responded.

Jiang Fei had no choice but to give up looking for someone who understood pet care and split up with Xiao Chuxia and the others to search for pet medicine.

The floodwaters had rotted the outer packaging of the medicines, and now they were frozen solid, making it impossible to check if the inner packaging was damaged. Jiang Fei simply put any medicine she saw into her backpack, planning to thaw it when she got home.

When she encountered an empty store, Jiang Fei waved her hand, collecting all the cat supplies and toys into her Supermarket warehouse, intending to sort out the usable ones for Da Huang later.

After searching several stores, Jiang Fei went to meet up with her teammates.

Lu Yu and the other two had full backpacks, but they weren't happy.

Xiao Chuxia, in particular, looked at a nearby store with a complex expression.

Jiang Fei: “What’s wrong?”
