345: Infiltrating the Joint Base

The Commander advised Jiang Fei, "I think you should at least take a twenty-person team for this mission."

Anlier also agreed with the Commander's suggestion:

"The Joint Base is heavily guarded. There are many searchlights installed along the coast, as well as infrared sensors that specifically detect human bodies."

"Once a human body is detected, the sensor will emit a piercing alarm that will spread across the entire island."

Lu Yu spoke up: "There's a way to bypass the infrared sensors."

"I used to be a mercenary; I have experience in this area."

The Commander shook his head: "Then your numbers are still too few, it's not safe."

Unlike the Commander and Anlier's skepticism, Xu Qianyao was very confident in Jiang Fei's plan.

After all, Jiang Fei had successfully completed many missions before.

Ninety percent of them were internal conflicts and robberies.

Xu Qianyao persuaded the Commander on Jiang Fei's behalf.

With guarantees and vows, after more than ten minutes, the Commander relented and agreed.

"When do you plan to make your move?"

Jiang Fei: "We'll act when it gets dark."

With more than two hours until dark, the Commander invited Xu Qianyao and the others to stay for a meal.

Xu Qianyao politely declined the Commander, citing "preparation for the operation" as the reason.

Back on the yacht, Xu Qianyao retrieved a rubber dinghy and went to their cruise ship to find the team members for tonight's mission.

Su Liuyuan, Ling Zhaorui, and Xiao Chuxia returned to their rooms to catch up on sleep.

Jiang Fei took Lu Yu back to 001 and entered the Supermarket.

She needed fresh blood to attract the moths.

After grabbing a few plump roosters from the chicken coop in the ordinary breeding area, Jiang Fei and Lu Yu went to the kitchen.

She was responsible for killing the chickens and draining their blood.

Lu Yu was responsible for holding the bowl to catch it.

Typically, a rooster has 100-200ml of blood in its body.

Jiang Fei killed 7 chickens, and the chicken blood only filled two large bowls.

But it was enough.

Just a little bloody smell could draw the vampire moths in droves.

Pouring the chicken blood into 5 small 250ml bottles, Jiang Fei sent them to the Supermarket warehouse for preservation, including the cleaned raw chickens.

Finding the elastic bodysuit she had drawn last time, Jiang Fei dripped a drop of chicken blood onto it.

The blood bead slid gently on the clothing, unable to soak into the special fabric produced by the Supermarket.

Jiang Fei could only carefully hold the clothing, to prevent the blood bead from sliding onto the ground.

The System said the bodysuit was insect-proof.

She didn't know the specific effect yet, so today was a good day to conduct an experiment.

Lu Yu stayed in the kitchen to clean up, while Jiang Fei took the bodysuit out of the Supermarket alone.

Opening the glass door, she placed the bodysuit on the open-air balcony floor.

Then she cleared away the insect repellent in the corner, retreated into the room, and closed the door.

The moths in the air, as if stimulated by something, quickly flew towards the balcony.

Even the moths from the distant sea were attracted.

But they stopped just before approaching the bodysuit.

As if they had discovered something they feared, the moth swarm hesitated to land.

Yet, unwilling to give up the delicious fresh blood, they rapidly circled the bodysuit.

Taking out a bottle of insecticide, Jiang Fei opened the door, killed the moth swarm, and retrieved the bodysuit.

The blood bead had already slid off, leaving the clothing spotless.

It truly was a Supermarket item; even insects couldn't get close.

It was a pity she couldn't arrange one for each of Lu Yu and the others.

Jiang Fei thought wistfully, then re-sprinkled insect repellent on the balcony, entered the Supermarket to bring Lu Yu out, and they both went to bed to catch up on sleep.

At eight o'clock in the evening, the night was as black as ink.

Jiang Fei and the four others put on their protective suits and went to the deck.

The number of moths outside had multiplied several times compared to daytime, so many that you could easily grab a handful.

The E-countrymen and Rescue Team members had already disembarked from the cruise ship, sitting in small boats and jet skis, waiting to depart.

To distinguish themselves in the vast swarm of moths, E-country had given Xu Qianyao and his team a glow-in-the-dark wristband each.

Eerie green light dots were scattered around the yacht, flickering like ghostly flames in a horror movie as the moths flew past, somehow chilling.

Xiao Chuxia, being timid, grabbed Jiang Fei's arm.

She wasn't afraid of moths or dead people now, but she was truly afraid of ghosts.

Crackling—

Xu Qianyao walked over, waving an electric fly swatter.

"Jiang Fei, that rubber dinghy is prepared for you all; it has oars."

"When you depart, we and the E-country people will follow behind you, ambushing one kilometer from the Joint Base."

"Do you have signal flares?"

Jiang Fei: "Yes."

"You all be careful."

Xu Qianyao told Jiang Fei the coordinates of the Joint Base.

With the coordinates, Jiang Fei and the four others got into the rubber dinghy and headed towards the Joint Base.

When they were still some distance from the Joint Base, Jiang Fei turned off the engine and switched to using oars.

The rubber dinghy's engine was very loud.

If there were guards on shore, they could easily hear the sound and discover them.

Approaching the Joint Base, Jiang Fei, under the cover of night and the moth swarm, sent Lu Yu and the three others into the Supermarket.

"I'll bring you out when we reach the location."

With that, Jiang Fei retreated, put on diving gear, stored the rubber dinghy in the Supermarket warehouse, and jumped into the sea.

After swimming to shore, Jiang Fei didn't rush to get out, but instead took out a piece of heat-insulating cloth for dealing with polar day and draped it over her head.

In a crawling posture, she carefully climbed ashore.

Before departing, Lu Yu had told her how to avoid infrared sensors.

One could cover themselves with something with good heat insulation and move slowly.

This way, the infrared features of the human body would be mostly undetectable.

The heat-insulating cloth could block temperatures of forty to fifty degrees Celsius, let alone her body temperature.

To avoid exposing her hands, a high-temperature area, Jiang Fei moved entirely with her elbows.

Fortunately, she was wearing the elastic bodysuit underneath, otherwise her skin would have been abraded by the sand on the ground.

She'd have to kill a few more little rascals later.

Jiang Fei crawled all the way into the dead tree forest without triggering any sensors.

She checked the surroundings.

There were no more sensors, so Jiang Fei put away the heat-insulating cloth and tiptoed closer to the base wall.

The vampire moths at night were swarming, so the guards were all on duty in enclosed watchtowers.

The moths were everywhere; even with searchlights on, they couldn't see anything.

With no one patrolling the ground, Jiang Fei successfully climbed over the wall and searched for the storage area for supplies.

After almost an hour of searching, she finally found the base's warehouse.

No one was guarding it here.

One reason was the excessive number of moths outside.

Another was that the main door was equipped with an electronic lock and infrared sensors.

Anyone approaching the warehouse or attempting to dismantle the electronic lock would trigger an alarm.

Wrapping herself in the heat-insulating cloth again, Jiang Fei walked over and glanced at the warehouse's ventilation shaft.

It was also equipped with infrared sensors and an alarm.

Jiang Fei circled to the side of the warehouse.

There were no sensors here.

She entered the Supermarket and brought out Lu Yu and the three others, giving each a shovel.

If they couldn't use the doors and windows, then she would dig a tunnel.

The five of them worked together to dig at the base of the wall.

Ling Zhaorui's arm injury had healed two days prior, and the brace had been removed. His recovery was faster than Xiao Chuxia had expected, and he was now fully capable of working.

In less than half an hour, they dug a narrow tunnel, just wide enough for Jiang Fei to squeeze through.

Sending her teammates into the Supermarket, Jiang Fei crawled through the tunnel into the warehouse.

Confirming that there were no sensors or people inside the warehouse, Jiang Fei brought Lu Yu and the others out again.

This time, each had a flashlight and a metal detector.

"Let's get to work."

"Call me if you find anything you like, and I'll help you put it into the Supermarket warehouse."
