337: Xiao Chuxia: I really deserve to die

Jiang Fei looked up at the sky.

In the distant, dark firmament, the stars and moon shone brightly.

The polar day was over.

Su Liuyuan excitedly said, “Finally, we don’t have to sleep with the blackout curtains drawn.”

“And it’s been more than ten days since the last acid rain.”

“There hasn’t been a single drop of rain during this period, which means the acid rain has ended.”

“We can finally breathe a sigh of relief.”

Jiang Fei, however, was not very happy.

Because she didn’t know what disaster would happen after the polar day.

On second thought, perhaps this was a good thing.

It meant she was thoroughly saying goodbye to everything from her previous life.

“Want to have a drink at home?”

“Sure.” Su Liuyuan was the first to agree:

“I didn’t eat enough tonight anyway.”

Lu Yu nodded, indicating he had no objections.

He would accompany Fei Fei no matter what she wanted to do.

—

Back home, Lu Yu and Su Liuyuan moved the coffee table to the window in the living room.

Jiang Fei retrieved the ceramic electric pot from the kitchen, placed it on the coffee table, and plugged it into the generator.

She took a bottle of fine red wine from the Supermarket and poured it into the pot.

Immediately after, she added orange slices, hawthorn slices, apple slices, lemon slices, rock sugar, cinnamon, cardamom, and other dried fruit and spice ingredients, simmering it over low heat.

The evening temperature was about ten degrees lower than during the day, so drinking mulled wine wouldn't feel hot.

After about ten minutes, Jiang Fei turned off the pot, took out five cups, a pre-apocalypse Tiramisu cake, a box of multi-flavored butter cookies, and a large plate of lemon chicken feet for snacks.

The three sat on a blanket on the floor, watching the stars outside the window while drinking mulled wine.

The unique aroma of the spices perfectly blended with the sweet and sour fruit flavors, also mixed with a hint of alcohol.

The taste was rich, and Su Liuyuan savored it carefully.

“This is my first time drinking mulled wine like this.”

“Captain, I’ve noticed you’re an expert when it comes to food and drink.”

Jiang Fei chuckled, “Food is paramount; eating and drinking are the most important things.”

Creak—

The courtyard gate was pushed open.

It was Ling Zhaorui and Xiao Chuxia returning.

Su Liuyuan poured each of them a cup of mulled wine and casually asked:

“Are you two done with your work?”

Ling Zhaorui: “No, we only finished counting how much lime and wood ash we have tonight. We’ll start officially improving the soil tomorrow.”

“I’ll probably be back very late during this period.”

Xiao Chuxia: “I’ll also be home late recently.”

“The herbs for the detoxifying decoction are almost used up, so I need to prepare a new batch.”

Jiang Fei: “If there’s anything you need help with, just tell me.”

“Okay~” Xiao Chuxia habitually leaned on Jiang Fei’s shoulder and pouted.

Looking at the brilliant stars and moon in the night sky outside the window, Xiao Chuxia’s smile gradually faded:

“I wonder how Uncle Jiang and the others are doing.”

“We’ve been in Mos City for almost half a year, but we still haven’t heard any news of them.”

Ling Zhaorui comforted her: “Perhaps Uncle Jiang and the others are watching the stars somewhere else.”

“Mos City isn’t the only landmass in the world.”

Xiao Chuxia perked up again: “I believe they and my parents will all be safe, and City Lord Gu Yunshan will be fine too.”

Mentioning Jiang Zhengkang, Xiao Chuxia seemed to recall something and looked up at Jiang Fei:

“Miss, how come you’ve never told us about your birthday?”

Like her and Zhao Rui, they never celebrated birthdays.

Liu Yuan and Lu Yu shared the same birthday.

Only Miss’s birthday, they didn’t know.

Jiang Fei lowered her eyes: “The day my mother passed away was coincidentally my birthday, so I stopped celebrating it years ago.”

“Besides, I don’t like celebrating birthdays.”

Her birthday was also the day she died in her previous life.

Celebrating her birthday would remind her of two lives lost.

Xiao Chuxia regretted her talkativeness for the first time.

Why bring up birthdays of all things!

I should die!

Lu Yu, who had the same thought, cast a faint glance at Xiao Chuxia, pushed her head away, and pulled Jiang Fei into his embrace.

He gently patted her shoulder, comforting her in his own way.

Xiao Chuxia, knowing she had said the wrong thing, sat up properly:

“Miss, Aunt Jiang in heaven would surely be very pleased to see how excellent her daughter is now.”

“Chu Xia is right.” Su Liuyuan suggested:

“What’s so great about birthdays? Let’s not celebrate them anymore. Instead, let’s celebrate the anniversary of our team’s formation.”

Ling Zhaorui: “That’s a good idea.”

“I remember the day Sister Jiang and you brought Liu Yuan back was July 16th, and the five of us officially formed a team.”

Jiang Fei: “That day has already passed this year. Next year, we’ll celebrate it together.”

“Cheers.”

Lu Yu and the other three raised their cups and clinked them against Jiang Fei’s.

After finishing a pot of mulled wine, everyone returned to their rooms to rest.

The acid rain had ended, and Jiang Fei and Xiao Chuxia had moved back to the second floor, but this time they didn't let Big Yellow and Little Black out.

To prevent the two cubs from suffering from air pollution and aluminum poisoning.

Before resting, Ling Zhaorui went upstairs to find Jiang Fei.

“Sister Jiang, I want to take out the hybrid sweet potato seedlings cultivated in the Supermarket.”

“Those were cultivated by me using mutated sweet potatoes and sweet potatoes from the Supermarket. Maybe they can be planted outside.”

“I also need fountain water, planting tools, fertilizer, and Old Kang’s notes.”

“These things are difficult for you to carry, so I’ll bring them to your room.” Jiang Fei went downstairs with Ling Zhaorui.

Once in his room, she took out the items Ling Zhaorui needed from the Supermarket.

Plus a box of refreshing coffee and energy drinks.

“Don’t overwork yourself.”

“Tell me if you need anything.”

“Okay.” Ling Zhaorui saw Jiang Fei off, then closed the door and began poring over the notes Kang Ansheng had given them.

He wanted to cultivate high-yield crops that could grow in acidic soil as soon as possible.

For the Black Night Gang, and also for their team.

A month passed in a flash.

The Black Night Gang’s houses had long been repaired, but everyone had not returned to work.

Aside from those on patrol, half the people were learning medicine from Xiao Chuxia, and the other half were learning planting from Ling Zhaorui.

Otherwise, if the two of them had to do everything themselves, they would be exhausted to death.

Sister Lu even set up an independent clinic for Xiao Chuxia, making it convenient for her to teach and brew decoctions.

As for Ling Zhaorui, he handed over the soil improvement work to the Black Night Gang and focused on cultivating special crops at home.

Everything was developing in a good direction.

Only the air pollution had no good solution.

Everyone could only drink two bowls of detoxifying decoction daily to alleviate the discomfort caused by aluminum poisoning.

This day.

Jiang Fei had just finished making hundreds of detoxifying meal sets when she suddenly heard shouts from outside.

“Sister Jiang, are you home?!”

“I’m here to deliver the gold to you!”

After putting all the detoxifying meal sets into the Supermarket warehouse, Jiang Fei went out and opened the gate.

Sister Lu carefully held a mini flowerpot.

Inside was a tender sprout the length of a pinky finger, slightly yellowish in color.

Behind her, four large trucks were parked.

“I’m sorry, Sister Jiang, for making you and your boss wait so long.”

“The Black Night Gang’s gold mine was stolen by some bastard a while ago, so my people had to go to a more distant gold mine to excavate.”

“But because the tools were incomplete, and many gold mines collapsed due to the acid rain, after a month of hard work, we only collected four truckloads of gold nuggets and ore.”

“If it’s not enough, I can’t do anything about it. Most of the gold mines in Mos City have collapsed.”

Jiang. Bastard. Fei: “It’s fine, four truckloads of gold are enough.”

“My boss delivered the items to the seaside a few days ago. I’ll go retrieve them tonight and bring them to you.”

“Sister Lu, what’s this flowerpot in your hand?”
