28: Chapter 28 Using Wolves to Devour Tigers

The higher he flew, the more difficult Lin Sheng found it.

At high altitudes, the air was thin. For a creature like him that flew by flapping wings, an altitude of over ten kilometers was already the limit.

To fly higher, unless Lin Sheng's posterior could provide propulsion like a jet engine, there was simply no way to reach a higher place.

Beneath Lin Sheng was a layer of clouds that stretched as far as the eye could see. Occasionally, a massive body would churn out from within the clouds, making Lin Sheng's heart tremble with fear.

Looking up at the Sky, which was still indeterminately high, and the few small black dots that occasionally appeared on the horizon, Lin Sheng finally abandoned the idea of exploring space for now.

Although his surroundings seemed very safe, Lin Sheng couldn't guarantee that if he peeled back the mist beneath his feet, some terrifying creature wouldn't appear inside.

"Woo~"

Just as Lin Sheng was about to return to the Ground, a "siren" sound suddenly drifted over from not far away.

This siren sound was very similar to the steam whistle of a ship from Lin Sheng's past life. For a moment, Lin Sheng actually thought there was a ship beside him.

Lin Sheng looked around but found no suspicious creatures in the vicinity.

He was just about to fly away from this place of trouble when that siren sound reached his ears again.

"Woo~"

"Woo~"

The sound moved from far to near, giving Lin Sheng a start.

He jerked his head up toward the Sky and saw a behemoth flying down toward him from directly overhead.

This behemoth was oval-shaped overall, with vine-like tentacles hanging down from its body, stretching all the way behind it.

Its head occupied about a third of its entire body, and the head was split vertically in two; the parts that opened and closed to the left and right were the behemoth's mouth.

The moment he saw this behemoth, a term suddenly popped into Lin Sheng's mind.

"Atmospheric Creature."

Whether it was its floating flight method or its airship-like appearance, this behemoth was very similar to the Atmospheric Creatures rumored on the internet in Lin Sheng's past life.

Seeing the Atmospheric Creature getting closer and closer, Lin Sheng didn't hesitate for a second and immediately bolted.

The diameter of the Atmospheric Creature above him was longer than his own body length. Even if Lin Sheng wanted to devour this creature, his combat power wouldn't allow it.

However, while Lin Sheng intended to flee, the Atmospheric Creature was not willing to let him go.

This was the first time it had seen prey so weak yet so full of energy; how could it just let him escape?

"Woo woo~"

The siren sound rang out again. Feeling the faint wind pressure behind him, Lin Sheng was already using every ounce of strength in his body while in the air.

"Meteor Fall!"

With a roar, the high-speed flying Lin Sheng suddenly dove, his body hurtling straight toward the Ground.

Lin Sheng's sudden change of direction was something the Atmospheric Creature hadn't expected, but its reaction was quick. In just a moment, it changed direction and dove down just like Lin Sheng.

At this moment, Lin Sheng discovered to his horror that as the altitude decreased and the air pressure gradually rose, the Atmospheric Creature's speed actually became faster and faster.

The Atmospheric Creature, which Lin Sheng had managed to distance himself from with his sudden turn, was now catching up again.

In this instant, Lin Sheng once again felt the fear of being dominated by the Giant Millipede from when he first arrived in this era.

"**! Keep chasing me and we'll both be finished!"

Lin Sheng cursed inwardly as a crazy idea rose in his heart and continued to spread.

He had previously consulted the system about the "Immortal Consciousness" talent. This talent was bound to his consciousness, while his other talents were bound to his body.

In other words, if Lin Sheng's body died, he could still live forever by relying on the "Immortal Consciousness" talent; he would just lose the talents associated with his body.

Lin Sheng turned his body around, tracing a graceful semi-circle in the air, and flew back up into the Sky once more.

This time, the Atmospheric Creature's reaction was half a beat slower because it hadn't expected Lin Sheng to double back.

"Pui."

Lin Sheng spat a mouthful of strong acid at the Atmospheric Creature below and then gave it a provocative look.

"Woo!"

The Atmospheric Creature was suddenly consumed by immense rage.

It was already angry enough that it couldn't catch this Little Thing, Lin Sheng, and now this Little Thing actually dared to provoke it, making it even more furious.

It roared and drifted toward Lin Sheng.

Lin Sheng completely ignored the threat behind him because, compared to the threat coming next, the one behind him was nothing at all.

"Roar roar!"

"Whoosh whoosh."

As Lin Sheng flew, he spat flames around the constantly churning cloud layers.

Some cloud layers reacted instantly, and various bizarrely shaped creatures flew out. The smallest of those creatures were twenty meters long, and the longest were estimated to be over a hundred meters.

The moment these creatures broke through the clouds, they all fixed their gazes on Lin Sheng, the culprit.

However, they only dared to glare at Lin Sheng from a distance and didn't actually come forward to cause him trouble.

After all, Lin Sheng was being followed by a "bodyguard" several hundred meters long.

"A bunch of cowards."

Lin Sheng felt great contempt for the cowardly behavior of those creatures, but he didn't care much because the main event was still to come.

Thinking of this, Lin Sheng was full of motivation and forcibly increased his speed by a tiny bit.

At this speed, a circle of sonic boom clouds even formed around Lin Sheng's body.

Checking the surroundings, Lin Sheng flew straight toward the nearest black dot.

This was a creature about three hundred meters long that looked like a Western dragon. However, unlike a dragon, it had no scales; instead, it was covered in pitted holes that oozed pus.

"Pui!"

Without any wasted movement, the moment he got close to this Pus Dragon, Lin Sheng spat a mouthful of strong acid directly at it.

This move maxed out the provocation value.

The Pus Dragon froze instinctively for a moment, but then it flew into a violent rage.

Ignoring the Atmospheric Creature trailing behind Lin Sheng, it gave a furious roar and charged at Lin Sheng without a second word.

Subsequently, Lin Sheng used the same trick to lure a large group of giant creatures.

These creatures all had one thing in common: they looked bizarre, as if they had been contaminated by something.

Lin Sheng took a quick peek behind him, and then his heart suddenly went cold.

He discovered that the creatures he had angered did not attack each other as he had expected.

It was as if they had reached an agreement; while maintaining a safe distance from each other, they all trailed behind Lin Sheng together, showing a posture of not stopping until they caught him.
