187: Chapter 188 Battle

One had to admit, the old man was very good at grasping human nature.

With just a few words, he turned a group of unruly desperadoes into hungry wolves howling to get onto the battlefield.

The Evolvers, who had been full of complaints just moments ago, were now impatient.

"Damn it, let's do this!"

"Charge! Don't let anyone else get there first!"

Immediately, some turned around and strode towards the exit, terrified that if they arrived late, the monsters would all be snatched up by others.

With one person leading, the crowd followed closely behind.

The flow of people in the entire hall surged instantly, converging toward the only exit.

Song Yang mixed into the crowd, not rushing to be at the front.

His gaze remained locked on the light screen of his wrist terminal.

The mysterious objects in the merit exchange library were dazzling, enough to drive any Evolver crazy.

But he wasn't interested in anything else.

Only one item piqued his interest.

[azure water: A mysterious object containing vast life source energy, capable of promoting benign evolution in any plant-based life form.]

[Battle Merit required for exchange: 5000 points.]

It was exactly the value of one King-level Monster.

"blood vine..."

That strange plant instantly appeared in Song Yang's mind.

If he could obtain the azure water, the power of the blood vine would definitely undergo a qualitative leap.

He absolutely could not miss this opportunity.

Harboring the same fiery thoughts, the crowd quickly arrived at the surface via the lifting platform.

The once-prosperous streets had long since turned into ruins; amidst the broken walls and debris lay a desolate, apocalyptic scene.

Boom!

A deafening roar came from the city center, and the ground trembled violently.

Everyone looked in the direction of the sound simultaneously.

With just one glance, many people gasped, the fervor that had just ignited on their faces instantly extinguished by more than half.

At the end of their line of sight, two behemoths were rampaging through the steel jungle.

One of them was six or seven stories tall, its entire body covered in thick, rock-like black armor, with thick limbs; every movement caused the ground to rumble. It was the Black Armored Pangolin Beast.

Not far from it, the other monster was even more terrifying.

It was nearly a hundred meters long, shaped like a Triceratops, its body covered in hideous cyan scale armor, with a row of sharp bone spurs on its back pointing straight to the sky.

The Heavy-Armored Thunder Dragon!

It opened its massive mouth and spat out a blue lightning pillar, easily slicing a multi-story building in half.

"Damn, this thing is a size larger than what we saw in the data." Someone swallowed hard.

The pressure emanating from the monsters, mixed with brutality and primal instinct, made many Evolvers who had just been hot-blooded turn pale and subconsciously take half a step back.

"Hahaha! Well come!"

A thunderous roar broke the tension.

The burly man carrying a giant axe was not afraid; instead, his eyes were bloodshot and filled with fanatic fighting spirit.

He licked his dry lips and pointed at the Heavy-Armored Thunder Dragon in the distance.

"That electric one is mine! Don't you bastards try to steal it from me!"

With that, he strode toward the Heavy-Armored Thunder Dragon.

"Madman!" A sharp-featured man cursed in a low voice, but his eyes were calculating greedily, "It's good that a reckless fool is going to scout the path; if we follow behind, we might be able to pick up the scraps."

Just as he finished speaking, a cold female voice rang out.

"I advise you to abandon that thought."

Everyone looked toward the sound; the speaker was a woman wearing a black tight-fitting combat suit.

She was tall and carried a massive sniper rifle that was disproportionate to her height.

"With that brute's strength, if he rushes in, he'll just be a piece of human charcoal."

She paused and turned her gaze to the Black Armored Pangolin Beast on the other side, "That one isn't easy to deal with either. With its scales, conventional weapons aren't even enough to scratch it. To kill it, you have to flip it over and attack its soft underbelly."

Her analysis was clear and logical, clearly indicating she had done her homework, which made the few people around who had been itching to move calm down.

"Little lady, you know quite a bit."

A young man whistled, "How about we team up? Big brother will protect you?"

The woman didn't even glance at him, taking the sniper rifle off her back and starting to calibrate the scope, treating him completely as air.

The young man lost face and shut his mouth resentfully.

Song Yang ignored the infighting among these people.

His gaze remained locked between the two behemoths.

The azure water requires 5000 Battle Merits.

This meant he had to independently or lead the kill of a King-level Monster.

The Heavy-Armored Thunder Dragon was imposing and extremely aggressive, but likewise, it attracted the most attention. That axe-wielding brute was not the first, and definitely wouldn't be the last, to charge at it.

Trying to land the decisive blow in a chaotic battle had too many variables.

The Black Armored Pangolin Beast had unparalleled defense, like an iron hedgehog, leaving no opening for anyone to attack.

Just as Song Yang was weighing the pros and cons, the axe-wielding brute roared and leaped from a broken high-rise building, smashing toward the head of the Heavy-Armored Thunder Dragon like a meteorite.

The axe's momentum was terrifying.

However, that behemoth didn't even turn its head.

It seemed merely annoyed, as if bothered by a fly.

That thick dragon tail covered in cyan scales struck first despite starting later, like a cyan-black bolt of lightning, whipping horizontally toward the brute in mid-air.

The brute was in mid-air with nowhere to gain leverage, so he could only hold his giant axe horizontally across his chest to block.

Clang!

The next moment, the brute was like a tattered sack slapped away, blood spraying from his mouth as he flew backward at a speed faster than he arrived, crashing into the wall of a building hundreds of meters away, kicking up a sky full of dust, his fate unknown.

One strike.

Just one strike.

The atmosphere, which had just been fanatical, instantly dropped to freezing point.

"Damn it, was this beast raised on hormones?" The sharp-featured man's face turned ghastly pale, his voice trembling.

That crushing power was indeed quite formidable.

"I told you, he was just going to his death. This Thunder Dragon is at least equivalent to the mid-stage of the War God Level."

Her analysis made everyone's hearts sink further.

"Then what do we do? Just watch like this?"

The young man who had whistled earlier was unwilling to give up; the temptation of 5000 Battle Merits was simply too great.

"Join forces."

A gleam of shrewdness flashed in the sharp-featured man's eyes, "This beast is powerful, yes, but with so many of us, we can exhaust it to death! Battle Merits will be distributed according to contribution; that's better than returning empty-handed!"

This proposal was immediately met with responses from a few people.

Wealth is sought in danger; fighting alone is death, but joining forces still offers a glimmer of hope.

"I'll be responsible for long-range suppression and locking onto weak points."

The woman in black was concise and to the point, effectively agreeing.

"Hahaha, count me in!"

"And me!"

Several people quickly reached a temporary alliance and began discussing tactics, preparing to strike first before the other Evolvers arrived.

No one noticed that Song Yang had quietly slipped away from the crowd.

Without the slightest hesitation, he turned and walked in another direction, toward the Black Armored Pangolin Beast that was dormant like a small hill.

His figure leaped a few times among the ruins, as swift as a ghost.

That temporarily assembled team seemed united, but in reality, they were all harboring their own ulterior motives.

Once the battle became deadlocked, or an opportunity to snatch Battle Merits appeared, it would instantly collapse.

Rather than pinning his hopes on others, it was better to choose a more certain target.

The Black Armored Pangolin Beast was like a locked iron can, difficult to attack.

But every lock has a keyhole.

The Black Armored Pangolin Beast seemed to sense Song Yang's approach; its massive head slowly lifted, and a pair of dark red eyes locked onto him tightly from a distance of several kilometers.

A fierce, mountain-like aura of violence rushed toward him.
