98: Chapter 98 Sisters Meet

Ignoring everything else, she scrambled up from the floor and trotted after him.

Her only thought at this moment was that following this man might be her only chance of survival.

When she stepped out of the room and saw the corpse of the fat monster in front of the door at close range, Yang Yueqi's face turned pale.

The foul stench made her stomach churn, and she nearly threw up on the spot.

She suppressed her discomfort, subconsciously holding her breath, and followed closely behind Song Yang.

The two went downstairs one after the other; the process was unexpectedly smooth, and they did not encounter any other monsters.

Just as they stepped out of the residential complex, several figures suddenly darted out from the side, surrounding the two of them.

There were three men and one woman, all of them gaunt and hollow-eyed, their clothes stained with filth.

They each held a kitchen knife, a steel pipe, or a wooden stick sharpened at one end.

The leader was a relatively tall and sturdy man; his gaze lingered on Song Yang for a brief moment before being immediately drawn to Yang Yueqi behind him.

When he saw Yang Yueqi's appearance clearly, the man's eyes suddenly lit up.

Indeed, since the apocalypse began, he had never seen such a clean, beautiful girl.

She looked as if she had never gone hungry.

Such a beauty would definitely fetch a good price.

As the man was thinking this, the woman behind him leaned into his ear: "Honey, look at that man. He has too much energy; he doesn't look like someone who is starving. And he's looking at the four of us without any sign of fear. He's probably a tough nut to crack. Maybe we should forget it?"

Before the woman could finish speaking, the man backhanded her with a loud slap, sending her stumbling and falling to the ground.

"Forget it, my ass!"

The man's face was ferocious. "I'm fucking starving to death! I finally ran into some living people; if I don't take a gamble, am I just supposed to wait for death? Today, even if it's a tough nut, even if the King of Hell himself were standing in front of me, I'd still tear a piece of meat off him!"

The other two men also tightened their grip on their crude weapons, their Adam's apples bobbing; they were clearly pushed to their limits by hunger.

Song Yang's expression did not change much; he remained as indifferent as before.

This calmness, in the eyes of the four people opposite him, brought immense pressure.

They had seen vicious criminals and those fighting desperately for their lives, but they had rarely seen someone who could remain so composed in such a situation.

Yang Yueqi hid behind Song Yang, her small hand tightly gripping the corner of his clothes.

She had just escaped from one cage, only to fall into another dangerous situation in the blink of an eye.

The way these people were looking at her didn't seem right at all.

"Kid, you look soft and tender, and you've got such a fresh-looking girl with you."

The leader licked his cracked lips. "Leave the girl behind you, and we brothers will leave you a way to survive."

"A way to survive?" Song Yang repeated. "Are you even qualified to talk about survival?"

Before the words had even faded, Song Yang moved.

The leader only felt a blur before his eyes, and a sense of crisis instantly enveloped his heart.

"Puchiβ€”"

The leader looked down in disbelief, seeing a sharp wooden spike protruding from his chest, its tip stained with warm blood droplets.

It was the weapon of the companion standing next to him, the one holding the sharpened wooden stick.

He turned his head with difficulty, seeing his companion looking equally stunned and bewildered, as if he didn't understand what had happened.

Song Yang was already standing beside the man holding the wooden stick, one hand casually resting on the man's shoulder, as if it were just an intimate gesture between old friends.

But it was this hand that, just a moment ago, had controlled the man's arm with an incredible angle and force, driving the lethal wooden spike into his back.

"How is this possible?"

Blood gushed from his mouth, his eyes widened in disbelief, and then he fell heavily to the ground.

The sudden turn of events left the remaining few completely stunned.

The weapons in the three people's hands clattered to the ground; without bothering about their companion's corpse, they turned and fled for their lives in the direction they had come from.

In the blink of an eye, they had disappeared without a trace.

The two walked one after another on the empty street; Yang Yueqi followed cautiously behind Song Yang, her gaze falling on his back from time to time.

This man was frighteningly powerful; the movement just a moment ago was so fast that she hadn't seen it clearly at all; those people hadn't even had a chance to resist in front of him.

"You..." Yang Yueqi hesitated for a moment before finally asking, "Do you know my sister?"

Song Yang did not stop or turn his head, simply responding indifferently, "Yes."

Receiving a positive answer, Yang Yueqi's heartbeat quickened.

She didn't understand what her sister could have possibly done to make such a killing god come to save her in the apocalypse.

"Is my sister okay?" Yang Yueqi asked cautiously; this was the question she cared about most.

Song Yang stopped this time and turned to look at her. "She is fine."

Hearing this, the heart that had been hanging in Yang Yueqi's chest finally settled a little.

But more doubts followed; if her sister was fine, why hadn't she come to find her? Why was it this stranger?

"Then where are we going now?"

"To find her." Song Yang answered concisely.

The two soon returned to the Exchange.

As soon as they entered, almost everyone's gaze turned towards them.

When they saw the beautiful young girl behind Song Yang, the noise instantly lowered, followed by gasps of breath one after another.

Naked gazes, filled with covetousness, fell unreservedly upon Yang Yueqi.

Where had Yang Yueqi ever seen such a spectacle?

Like a startled fawn, she covered her cheeks tightly with her small hands and shrank behind Song Yang.

Song Yang ignored the surrounding gazes and walked straight through the crowd towards the second floor.

The second floor was relatively quiet, and Song Yang took Yang Yueqi into a room he had bought with supplies.

The room was not big, containing only a simple bed and a table.

"Wait for me here; I'm going to bring your sister over."

Song Yang left the room and arrived at the stall where "Yang Mi" was being sold.

Several people were gathered in front of the stall, pointing at the woman.

After buying Yang Mi, he brought her back to the second floor.

"Prepare a bucket of bathwater for her." Song Yang said to a man guarding the entrance to the second floor.

The man was stunned; bathwater? In this apocalypse, water was more precious than life, and bathing was an incredibly extravagant thing.

But he knew Song Yang had money, so he dared not ask too much, only saying somewhat awkwardly, "Boss Song, the cost of bathwater is not low, and we have to recycle the used water."

"I know." Song Yang responded indifferently.

The man nodded and went to arrange it immediately.

Soon, a simple cubicle was cleared out, and a bucket of steaming bathwater was brought in.

The water quality was murky, clearly having been purified and recycled many times.

Song Yang brought Yang Mi to the cubicle and casually tossed her a new set of clothes: "Your sister is waiting for you. Go in and wash up."

Yang Mi was stunned at first, two lines of hot tears streaming down, before she nodded and obediently walked into the cubicle.
