37: Chapter 37 Using a borrowed knife to kill

But not long after the people outside the door disappeared, they returned on the surveillance screen.

This time, the skinny man leading them had an extra piece of sheet metal in his hand, which he had dismantled from somewhere unknown.

He used tape to completely cover the peephole on Song Yang's door, preventing Song Yang from shooting arrows.

Immediately after, a heavy, dragging, grinding sound rang out.

Song Yang watched the screen; they had actually carried a small gasoline generator up from downstairs!

A plastic barrel was opened, and they poured the remaining half-barrel of gasoline into the generator's fuel tank, leaving not a single drop behind.

Then came an electric drill and a small handheld chainsaw.

Several tools that looked quite powerful were connected to the generator.

"Hum—hum—"

Accompanied by a few strenuous pulls, the generator emitted a deafening roar.

"Song! Open the door!"

The young man who had kicked the door earlier now had bloodshot eyes, gripping a buzzing electric drill in his hand, aiming it at the security door.

"Song, listen up! Open the door for us right now! Don't force us to saw this door open and chop you into pieces to feed the dogs!"

"Yeah! Chop him up!"

"And the woman inside! This kid is definitely hiding a woman!"

"Damn it, once we get in, he's going to have a rough time!"

In the bedroom, Xiao Xue crawled to the corner of the bed and curled into a ball.

It's over...

They're actually going to do it!

Horrifying images uncontrollably flooded her mind: the door being violently broken open, and those starving, crazed men rushing in like wild beasts.

And herself.

Xiao Xue shuddered violently, a chill shooting from the soles of her feet straight to her scalp.

She knew her fate all too well.

Once the door was breached, Song Yang would certainly die, and she would be tormented to death by these people.

Xiao Xue closed her eyes in despair.

Is everything about to end?

She had only just eaten a full meal for one day.

She didn't want to die!

But when she looked up at Song Yang, she found no expression of panic on his face.

That wasn't a feigned calmness, but a different kind of confidence.

"Song Yang, they have a chainsaw! They're really going to break the door!"

"Why aren't you afraid at all? Do you really have a way to deal with those guys outside?"

Song Yang finally moved his gaze away from the screen and gave her a faint glance.

His gaze was very calm, so calm it was almost cold.

"What's the rush?"

He countered, his tone devoid of ripples, "Is the door really that easy to break?"

Xiao Xue was stunned by his question.

"But what if? What if they actually succeed? Those tools are quite destructive."

"Just watch."

Song Yang interrupted her, casting his gaze back to the screen, "Get ready to watch a good show."

Watch a good show?

Xiao Xue looked blankly at Song Yang's profile.

Outside, it was a matter of life and death, starving ghosts claiming lives, and he actually said to watch a good show?

What kind of good show?

Did he have some other trick up his sleeve?

Thinking of this, Xiao Xue subconsciously looked at the surveillance screen.

Outside the door, the buzzing electric drill pressed against the door panel, sparks flying everywhere, but it could only leave shallow indentations.

Switching to the handheld chainsaw, apart from scraping off a layer of paint and leaving unsightly white marks, it still couldn't shake it in the slightest.

The young man who had kicked the door was the first to run out of energy; he threw aside the hot electric drill and leaned against the wall, panting heavily.

"Damn it, what kind of door is this? No wonder Fatty Wang didn't get in to kill Song Yang back then?"

The skinny man beside him also had an extremely ugly expression; he stared fixedly at the immovable security door, his eyes sinister.

He knew the power of the chainsaw; it could even cut through steel pipes, but the thickness and material of this door panel were far beyond their imagination.

The others also stopped one after another, all exhausted like dogs; they looked at each other, all having thoughts of giving up.

"What do we do? We can't open it," someone muttered softly.

"Damn it, this door is stronger than a bank vault!"

The skinny man was silent for a moment, then waved his hand: "Rest for a while, let's think of other ways."

The few cursed and swore as they turned off the generator; the hallway instantly fell silent, leaving only heavy panting.

They stared at the door, as if it wasn't a door, but an insurmountable high wall.

Inside.

Song Yang brought Xiao Xue out of the bedroom and into the living room.

When Xiao Xue saw the door was intact, her heart finally settled, and she let out a long sigh of relief.

This door really had blocked the madmen outside.

"They seem to have stopped."

"Then how do we drive them away? They definitely won't just let it go."

Xiao Xue said worriedly.

Song Yang walked to the living room window, which was sealed tightly with a thick iron plate, leaving only a tiny gap for ventilation.

"Drive them away? Why should we do it ourselves?"

Xiao Xue was stunned: "What do you mean?"

A smile tugged at the corner of Song Yang's mouth, "Borrowing a knife to kill, ever heard of it?"

"Borrowing a knife to kill?"

Xiao Xue was even more confused, completely failing to understand his meaning.

Those people outside were the biggest threat; where was there any "knife" to borrow?

Before she could figure it out, Song Yang had already reached out both hands and grabbed the edge of the iron plate sealing the window.

The muscles in his arms tensed, and he lifted it upwards with force.

"Creak—"

The heavy iron plate was lifted by him and secured above.

In an instant, the bright light from the room, like a sharp sword, pierced through the window without obstruction, stabbing into the darkness outside!

In this community shrouded in darkness, this sudden light was incredibly conspicuous, incredibly flamboyant!

What was lurking in the darkness, no one knew better than Song Yang, who had experienced the previous life.

Xiao Xue watched the light shoot into the boundless darkness, her heart skipped a beat, and a sense of foreboding enveloped her.

She seemed to somewhat understand what Song Yang meant by "borrowing a knife to kill."

This light, what would it attract?!

A few seconds later, the heavy iron plate was lowered by Song Yang again, sealing the window perfectly.

At this moment, Xiao Xue finally understood what Song Yang meant by "borrowing a knife to kill."

This wasn't borrowing a knife at all; this was summoning demons!

Song Yang walked to the surveillance screen; on the screen, the few figures outside the door also seemed to have noticed something and were looking around somewhat uneasily.

Soon, some kind of low roar sounded from within the community.

The sound was initially very distant and intermittent, but it quickly became clear and was gradually getting closer!

The few people outside the door heard it too.

The young man who kicked the door had his expression change drastically; he looked toward the stairs in terror: "What sound is that? Did you guys hear it?"

The skinny man also pricked up his ears, "It seems to be coming from downstairs."

The few looked at each other, all seeing horror in each other's eyes.

"Damn it, it wouldn't be those things, would it?" someone's voice trembled.

"That's impossible, right? We aren't outside, how could we attract those monsters?"

Just as they were terrified, a pale, hideous face appeared on the glass of the hallway window.
