273: Chapter 267 The Name of the Blood Butcher

"Who... who exactly are you..."

Blood spilled from He's mouth, and his face no longer held a hint of arrogance, leaving only endless terror.

He and Mei had joined forces, but before this person, they could not even withstand a single move.

The only answer he received was Song Yang taking a step forward.

Fear instantly consumed He's reason; he let out a roar, grabbed the Mei beside him, and transformed into two streaks of light that crashed through the roof, fleeing desperately toward the sky.

They had to escape from here, to escape from this monster!

Song Yang looked up at the two panic-stricken specks of light, then transformed into a black streak faster than a meteor, shooting into the sky in hot pursuit.

Countless people in the city looked up, watching the three streaks of light in the sky with terror.

Those were their gods, being hunted by a stranger.

High in the sky, He and Mei exhausted every ounce of their strength, only to discover in despair that the shadow of death behind them was closing in even faster.

"Fight him to the death!" A flash of madness crossed He's eyes.

He turned around abruptly and smashed his weapon down toward Song Yang.

Song Yang simply hurled the long spear in his hand.

The long spear transformed into a beam of deathly black light, piercing through He's chest before his disbelieving eyes.

"He!"

Mei let out a desperate scream, but the lethal black light curved in the air and shot toward her instead.

The shadow of death descended upon her.

The next moment, the long spear pierced through her heart.

Two broken corpses fell from the sky, crashing heavily into the center of their palace—now reduced to ruins—and kicking up a cloud of dust.

Song Yang's figure descended slowly, and he stood beside the corpses to collect their storage bracelets.

As rulers, these guys naturally possessed plenty of good things.

After claiming the spoils, Song Yang's figure vanished from the ruins, leaving behind only a city of bewildered believers and two cold corpses.

He had no interest in playing king here, nor did he have any intention of accepting the worship of these people.

Allowing oneself to be surrounded is foolish; a hunter always remains in the shadows.

Seven days passed in the blink of an eye.

In this world, the gods who once sat high above the clouds were now like birds startled by the mere twang of a bow.

The "Blood Butcher"—a nameless title—was quietly whispered beneath every luxurious palace.

In seven days, thirty-five gods had fallen.

Panic spread like a plague.

In the Northern Territory, at the Wanxian Building.

Paved with black jade and supported by beams of gold crystal, the place was shrouded in mist year-round and had once been a den of indulgence where the gods feasted and made merry.

But at this moment, the atmosphere inside was suffocatingly oppressive.

Expensive incense was burning, but the scent it emitted, rather than soothing the nerves, was tainted with an unsettling, bloody odor.

"The 'Mountain Burner' from the south, the 'Blood River' from the west... they're all gone."

On the main seat, a plump middle-aged man dressed in a gold-threaded robe spoke in a deep voice.

He was the master of this place; while not powerful, his connections were vast.

"Third Master Jin, you didn't call us all here just to listen to you recite eulogies, did you?"

A muffled voice rang out. The speaker was a burly man with a bare chest and muscles knotted like mountain rock; he carried a massive mace on his shoulder and was none other than the "Mountain-Splitting God," Kui Shan.

"In my opinion, that 'Blood Butcher' is just a coward who knows a few tricks for sneak attacks! That pair of trash, He and Mei, were addicted to wine and pleasure; they deserved to die! If he dares to come to the Northern Territory, I'll smash him into a pulp with a single swing of my mace!"

No sooner had Kui Shan finished speaking than a ghostly female voice echoed from the corner.

"A coward? Kui Shan, is there room in that brain of yours for anything other than muscle?"

Everyone turned to look. In the shadows sat a woman with an alluring figure, her face obscured by a black veil. With pitch-black fingernails, she was idly stroking a bright green spider.

She was "Lady Thousand-Spiders" You Ji, renowned for her use of poison and her highly sinister methods.

Kui Shan flew into a rage, his rugged face flushing a deep purple. He slammed the mace on his shoulder heavily against the floor, causing the entire Wanxian Building to vibrate and hum.

"You bitch, what did you say? Do you want me to tear your mouth off right now?"

You Ji giggled, "Tear my mouth off? I'm afraid you don't have the skill for that. Instead, you might find my little darlings crawling into your brain to taste what those muscles of yours are made of."

The bright green spider on her fingertip seemed to understand its master; it moved all eight of its legs, emitting a faint, rustling sound.

"Enough!"

Third Master Jin, who had been silent until now, slammed his hand down on the armrest. "What time do you think it is, and you're still infighting here! Do you want to die?"

His gaze, sharp as a blade, swept across Kui Shan and You Ji before finally landing on the various people in the great hall, each wearing different expressions.

"Everyone, do not forget that we still have a 'City Lord' above us!"

Third Master Jin's voice was low, yet it made every god present shudder.

"The City Lord is already extremely displeased with the deaths of those fools. He gave us seven days, and now the deadline is almost here, yet we haven't even caught a glimpse of that Outsider!"

"The City Lord has said that if we cannot find that 'Blood Butcher', we will all die!"

Once the word "die" was spoken, the hall fell into a deathly silence.

Third Master Jin paused, then delivered news that plunged them into even deeper despair:

"Furthermore, that Outsider could leave this world at any moment. Once he is gone, we will lose the chance to leave forever, trapped in this cage for eternity!"

A cage!

These two words weighed on everyone's hearts like two massive mountains.

They were gods, supreme beings in the eyes of their believers, but in reality, they were merely prisoners of a more powerful existence.

"Third Master Jin, if you have a plan, just say it!" a gloomy voice spoke up.

Only then did everyone notice someone hanging upside down from the rafters of the great hall, like a bat.

Third Master Jin took a deep breath and was about to speak when a flurry of hurried footsteps suddenly sounded from outside the hall.

A confidant came scrambling in.

"Third Master! Lords! We've found him! We've found the trail of that 'Blood Butcher'!"

Boom!

Everyone in the hall stood up, and even the person on the rafters dropped silently to the ground.

Kui Shan grabbed the confidant by the collar and hoisted him up, his copper-bell-sized eyes bloodshot.

"Where is he?"

"In 'Tieyan City' to the south! Someone saw him enter the city!"

"Tieyan City..." You Ji murmured the name.

Third Master Jin stood up abruptly.

"Pass on my order: blockade Tieyan City! Everyone, follow me!"

"This time, spare no cost! We must capture him!"

Before he had even finished speaking, Kui Shan had already charged out, mace in hand; his violent aura whipped up a foul wind.

The others also transformed into streaks of light, following closely behind.

They were going to capture that Outsider—for the sake of their survival, and for the freedom they longed for day and night.
