240: Chapter 236 Curing Cancer

By the window, the breathing of several women came to a standstill.

Xiao Xue's nails were almost embedded in the window frame, and she stared fixedly at the silver-haired figure hovering in the air, her throat dry:

"Is she also one of your people?"

This question voiced everyone's inner thoughts.

That was a King-level giant beast, a terrifying existence capable of destroying a survivor base single-handedly!

Was it killed in one hit just like that?

The shock this brought was a hundred times stronger than when Song Yang piloted the spaceship earlier.

"She is a guard I bought," Song Yang introduced.

A guard?

Everyone was deeply shocked.

A single guard possesses such heaven-destroying and earth-shattering power?

Just then, a new anomaly occurred!

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

On the city's skyline, ten dazzling silver streams of light suddenly lit up. Moving at a terrifying speed exceeding the speed of sound, they shot toward every corner of Dahai City from different directions.

"It's... it's happening again!" Zhang Xinmei exclaimed.

The ten streams of light suddenly stopped in mid-air, revealing their true forms.

Ten robots with bodies made entirely of metallic silver.

They had no facial features; their faces were smooth mirrors, and they also held long, narrow blades in their hands.

The next second, the slaughter feast officially began.

"Roar!"

A centipede monster perched on top of a commercial building had just poked out its hideous head when a silver light flashed before its eyes.

Slice!

Its hundred-meter-long body was precisely sliced in half from head to tail, and foul-smelling bodily fluids poured down like a rainstorm.

On the other side, three agile, hound-like monsters were besieging a supermarket where survivors were hiding. Just as they were about to smash the glass, three silver lights crossed over them.

The monsters' movements came to an abrupt halt. Then, their heads, limbs, and torsos shattered into dozens of pieces, scattering neatly onto the ground.

Like chopping melons and vegetables.

These four words were the only thought in everyone's mind at this moment.

Those terrifying giant beasts that once brought despair to the survivors were as fragile as paper in front of these silver gods of death.

Between the flashes of the blades, lives were ended.

Harsh roars rose and fell, only to be quickly extinguished.

Song Yang turned a blind eye to the bloody scene outside the window. He turned around and said to the stunned women:

"Let's go, I'll take you for a tour in the sky."

"Huh?" Yang Yueqi was the first one who didn't react in time.

"Go... go to the sky?" Xiao Xue's brain also seemed to have crashed.

Song Yang didn't explain further and walked straight toward the door.

Everyone looked at each other, but in the end, they followed him.

When they walked out of the Villa again and stepped onto the manor's lawn, the sci-fi spaceship had already silently opened its hatch.

"Come on up."

Song Yang's voice came, and the women finally snapped out of their daze. Suppressing the myriad thoughts in their hearts, they entered the spaceship one by one.

The interior space of the spaceship was far more spacious than imagined and was filled with a high-tech feel.

As the hatch closed, a slight sensation of weightlessness arrived, and the spaceship lifted off smoothly.

Through the huge panoramic porthole, the entire view of Dahai City was in full view.

They saw those ten silver figures, like the most efficient reapers, weaving through the city's steel jungle. Wherever they passed, the roars of the monsters fell silent.

The women looked out the window and then at Song Yang's profile. The last trace of doubt and unease in their hearts completely dissipated with the death of those monsters.

Replacing it was an unprecedented sense of peace and infinite longing for the future.

The spaceship, like a ghost, silently streaked across the deathly silent sky.

The once blue planet was now left with only broken walls, ruins, and a gray, desolate land.

This trip around the world completely overturned their understanding of the world, power, and Song Yang.

Finally, the spaceship hovered over a familiar area—the Dahai City Exchange.

The spaceship landed on the open space behind the Exchange, which was once Boss Li's private garden.

"Wait for me here."

After Song Yang finished speaking to the women, he walked alone toward the Villa.

Inside the Villa, the luxurious office once used for business negotiations had been converted into a hospice room.

On the hospital bed, Boss Li, who once dominated the apocalypse, was now nothing but skin and bones, his skin sallow, and his eye sockets deeply sunken.

An oxygen tube was inserted into his nostrils, his chest rose and fell weakly, and the monitor beside the bed emitted a monotonous and rhythmic beeping sound, as if counting down his remaining life.

A nurse in a white coat saw Song Yang enter and stood up to bow.

"Mr. Song, you're here. Boss Li's condition is very bad. The cancer cells have spread to all his organs. Relying on nutrient solution and a ventilator, he won't last long, at most a week."

Song Yang's gaze fell on Boss Li's lifeless face, and he said calmly:

"Both you and the doctor should go out."

"But..."

"Out."

The nurse felt a chill in her heart, dared not say another word, bowed, exited the room, and gently closed the door.

Inside the room, only the monotonous sound of the equipment and Boss Li's faint breathing remained.

Song Yang walked to the bedside. A delicate crystal bottle appeared out of thin air in his hand, containing a pale golden liquid.

He pulled out the stopper, pried open Boss Li's chin, and poured all the liquid from the bottle into his mouth.

The liquid slid down his parched throat into his stomach.

A miracle happened the next second.

It was as if dead wood had met the spring, or dead ashes had reignited.

The thick aura of death on Boss Li dissipated rapidly, like morning mist dispersed by the sun.

His sallow, shriveled skin regained color and elasticity at a speed visible to the naked eye, his sunken cheeks became plump again, and at the roots of his graying hair, black hair was actually growing.

The heartbeat curve on the monitor suddenly became strong and powerful from a weak ripple!

One minute later.

Boss Li suddenly opened his eyes!

Those eyes were no longer cloudy and unfocused as they were before death; they were filled with long-lost brilliance and spirit, even sharper than before he got sick.

He sat up, feeling the surging vitality within his body. He looked down at his restored, robust arms and touched his strong, powerful heartbeat.

Finally, he ripped the ventilator off his face and tossed it aside, making a crisp sound.

Boss Li looked up, staring intently at Song Yang, his Adam's apple bobbing. "What... what is this?"

"Something that can cure cancer," Song Yang said indifferently.

Boss Li took a deep breath. The smoothness and fullness of this breath were something he hadn't experienced in the past year.

He threw off the quilt and got out of bed, his feet firmly planted on the ground. He even jumped twice, feeling the sense of power that didn't belong to a patient.

It's hard to imagine that someone who was about to die the second before had been reborn the next.

"Terminal cancer, even gods can't save it."

Boss Li flexed his wrists, feeling the power coming from his muscles and bones, and laughed at himself. "It seems I haven't seen a real god before."

He was not a person who wore his emotions on his face. Even though his heart was already in turmoil, on the surface, he had returned to the composure of that shrewd businessman.

He walked around the office twice, and finally stopped in front of Song Yang, his gaze sharp.

"Tell me, what do you want me to do?"

Boss Li's voice was full of energy. "My life is yours now. The Exchange, all the things I've accumulated—whatever you want, just take it."

In the apocalypse, human sentiments are the most void; equivalent Exchange is the only truth.

He used the principles he had operated by for half his life to measure this life-saving grace.

"The Exchange?"

The corners of Song Yang's mouth twitched imperceptibly. "Those things are useless to me."

He walked to the huge floor-to-ceiling window. Outside was the garden behind the Exchange, and further away was the silent outline of the city.

"I went for a trip outside."

Song Yang looked into the distance, as if speaking to Boss Li, and also as if talking to himself.

"After looking from the sky, I realized how big the sky above our heads is, and I also understood that our human civilization, in the long river of the universe, doesn't even count as a single moment."

"Humanity will one day have to leave Earth and venture outside."

Leave Earth?

Boss Li was a bit surprised.

He had roamed the apocalypse, seen the ghosts of human hearts, and witnessed life-and-death struggles. The limit of what he could imagine was just to live better on this wasteland.

But this young man in front of him was thinking about jumping out of the entire chessboard.

"Outside..."

Boss Li's Adam's apple bobbed. Having lived for half a lifetime, this was the first time he felt his imagination was so poor. "What is it like outside?"

"I don't know."

Song Yang answered very crisply, "It might be more exciting, or it might be more dangerous, but it's definitely more interesting than staying here."

Boss Li fell silent.

He looked at his palms, which had regained their color, and felt the strong, powerful heart in his chest.

He had gained a new life, but it was in a world that was dying.

If he stayed, he would still be that Boss Li who dominated the world, but what was the point of being the king of this wasteland?
