12: Chapter 12 The Miserable Death Mark
When Sakan spoke his name, the crowd slowly let down their guard. But even more surprising was that he knelt on one knee to bridge the distance between them.
"Do you have names? Little ones?"
Lysander
Atia
Suddenly, a series of gunshots rang out from outside, and Sakan immediately began moving the civilians.
A moment later, they encountered the Battle Sister Danica, who had just finished a fierce battle with controlled Krieg Soldiers.
"Who are you?"
Battle Brother Sakan, Firedrake Squad, 3rd Company of the Salamanders Chapter.
Danica, Order of Our Martyred Lady.
"Sister, where is Lieutenant Furnas of the Ultramarines?"
Danica told him in despair that the Lieutenant had already sacrificed himself for the Emperor.
Suddenly, Danica spotted the civilians behind Sakan; still shaken, she immediately raised her Bolter.
Fortunately, Sakan stopped her in time.
"Lower your weapon."
"Step aside. They are weak and incompetent, they will only drag us down. It is better to grant them the Emperor's Mercy now."
Brothers, it seems this woman is not to be trifled with.
This woman is way too brutal.
Just as the two were at a standoff, a Gauss Ray suddenly shot from the distance. Fortunately, Sakan noticed it in time to prevent a tragedy.
Seeing the sneak attack, Sakan immediately ducked behind cover and began his counterattack.
He shouted while firing back, "Evacuate! Quickly!"
While Danica was dazed by Sakan's mercy, Sakan was pinned by a falling boulder and couldn't get up for a moment.
Danica finally snapped out of it, firmly donned her helmet, picked up her Bolter, and started firing.
On the other side,
The Deathmark was firing continuously. Just as he thought he was about to end the life of this Salamander, Zeras made an ill-timed call.
"How is the mission progressing?"
"Still in progress."
The Deathmark had to maintain communication with Zeras while shooting outside from time to time.
However, the second after he finished firing and ducked, countless mindless Krieg Soldiers surrounded him.
The Deathmark could only keep firing.
At this moment, Zeras sent a message.
He said maliciously, "These are my failures. It seems you can't even handle them?"
Brothers, why do I feel like he's settling a personal grudge?
Brother, be confident, remove the 'feel like' part.
How does this look so much like a unit leader giving you a hard time?
Do you think this unit doesn't want to?
The Deathmark could only fire while retreating, but unexpectedly, his gun jammed.
"See you later."
After saying that, Zeras hung up the communication.
Brothers, it's confirmed. This is the consequence of not respecting your leader.
I bet this Deathmark is cursing his boss's ancestors in his heart right now.
Seeing things were going south, the Deathmark immediately opened a multi-dimensional space, intending to retreat.
Unexpectedly, he was a step too late and was surrounded by the Kriegers, who began tearing at him.
Sob, as expected of Krieg; even in this state, they are still fighting.
Before long, the Deathmark was submerged by the Kriegers.
On the other side,
After discovering the enemy had mysteriously disappeared, their primary goal was to move to the west of the city and evacuate.
However, surprisingly, the Necron actually tenaciously survived.
His body began to recover slowly. But while the body recovered, it seemed his circuits had shorted out.
He tried to open the multi-dimensional space, but it wouldn't work no matter what.
Sakan and the others kept retreating west. Along the way, the Priest constantly preached the tenets of the Ecclesiarchy to Danica, attempting to consolidate her faith.
Brothers, why do I feel like this Priest is a black sheep?
Same here, I have that feeling too.
