56: Chapter 56 The Threat of the Terran Zerg, the Issuance of the Extinction Order

After a heated argument, the players were finally persuaded by the Flesh Tearers Chapter Chaplain remaining on the naval fleet.

"Damn, this is so frustrating."

"If you ask me, we should just go full throttle with the fleet's firepower, charge at the Tyranids, and take them down with us!"

Just as the players were arguing incessantly, the long-vanished system screen appeared once more.

Battle of Baal

Mission Objective: Hold out until Regent Guilliman's fleet arrives, or completely annihilate the invading Tyranid Swarm.

Would you like to view the enemy's data?

Facing the bickering players, Old Chen and Old Li could only try their best to soothe them. Once the players had quieted down, they said, "View."

The Tyranids, enemies from beyond the Milky Way. They are the devourers of all things, with plundering, consuming, and evolving at their core, led by the supreme commanding consciousness known as the "Hive Mind." In its battles against them, the Imperium has gained almost no advantage. Thus, the radical Inquisitor Feros Kryptman proposed the "Planetary Cordons" project—implementing the Exterminatus on hundreds of Imperial worlds around Holy Terra to create a vacuum zone and halt the swarm's advance.

"Is it worth abandoning hundreds of worlds just to protect Holy Terra?"

As soon as the words were spoken, no one answered him. Everyone felt a deep sense of helplessness. And so, the video continued to play.

Based on the Imperium's previous research into xenos like the Tyranids, it was generally believed that these creatures were predators driven by an endless hunger. Although the Tyranids adaptively evolve and adjust their tactics to suit their current environment, all signs indicate that the Tyranid Swarm does not possess high-level intelligence. Beyond ensuring their own survival, the swarm seems to have no grander strategic goals. When hunting, they usually avoid Necron Tomb Worlds, which lack any Biomass, turning instead to plunder the Biomass-rich Imperial Hive Cities. But this time, the Leviathan Hive Fleet made an unexpectedly rapid march, thus beginning another "Battle of Baal" that nearly saw the total annihilation of the Blood Angels and their successor chapters. At this point, the video came to an abrupt halt.

Everyone was shocked by this scene. No one had expected that the sacred and inviolable Blood Angels would fall into such a crisis.

"Maybe this is the right thing to do. The video said 'nearly annihilated,' which means they won in the end."

"Maybe everything they did was right..." Old Chen and Old Li looked with complex expressions at the Flesh Tearers warships preparing to execute the Exterminatus.

Thus, under the gaze of the players and by the order of Commander Dante, the people of one world after another watched joyfully as the Space Marine ships arrived in the skies above their planets. Just as they were filled with hope, believing they were being rescued by the "Angels of the Imperium," what fell from the sky was an Exterminatus without any explanation. The people of all surrounding star systems met their destruction in a state of confusion. Billions of Imperial citizens died at the hands of the "Angels of the Imperium."

Dante was heartbroken by this situation, but he had no other choice.

Dante's order deprived the Tyranid fleet of numerous opportunities to replenish Biomass and gave the people on these Imperial worlds a swift death. They had no chance of survival to begin with. In this dark galaxy, sometimes, a swift death is an unparalleled mercy.

After this, the Tendrils of Leviathan would only encounter ruined worlds, leaving them unable to obtain supplies...
