32: Chapter 32: The 19th Regiment's defenses have fallen; is the commander going to execute Old Chen?
While the two were arguing, on the other side, Yang Gao had already finished creating the second stage of the Siege of Vraks and updated it to the game.
"System, do you think the players' records in the game might actually be the real records of warhammer 40k? You know what I mean, right?"
Ding! The host is correct. The players' game records, kill counts, and the implementation status of campaigns will all become part of the warhammer 40k universe.
In other words, everything they do in the game is real?
"That's good. But I've never been able to figure it out—System, what are you actually after?"
Ding! This system cannot disclose that; no comment.
Yang Gao had no choice but to drop it, though he couldn't help but ponder the System's origins: Could this System have been specially created by some advanced civilization just to mess with me? But that's impossible, right? An advanced civilization wouldn't be so bored and idle that they'd come to torment someone like me who never steps out of the house, would they?
Although Yang Gao's thoughts had long since wandered far away, his hands, relying on instinct, had unexpectedly managed to upload the second stage of the Siege of Vraks.
"Brothers, have you checked the game? The Siege of Vraks campaign has been updated!" one player stood up in excitement.
"For real?"
After everyone confirmed it, bursts of cheers erupted, and some even shed tears of excitement.
"Brothers, it wasn't easy, but it's finally updated!"
"Exactly, it kept me waiting so long!" a player said, choking up slightly as he wiped his tears with a tissue.
"Enough talk, brothers. Since Brother Gao has updated it, we can't let him down. Let's go, log in!"
Instantly, countless players appeared on the Vraks battlefield, and the screeching sound of tank tracks filled the entire battlefield.
"Brothers, I'm finally back!" a player exclaimed excitedly, kissing the ground of Vraks through his gas mask.
Upon hearing that the Siege of Vraks campaign had been updated, Li Pu logged in immediately. There was a heavy burden on his heart that hadn't been lifted yet—what had happened to Colonel Tapok?
"Old Li! Why do you think we have such a miserable fate? We just logged in and already have to dig trenches."
"Stop talking and just dig honestly. The sooner we finish digging, the sooner we can get into the fight."
A defensive line stretching for hundreds of miles was dug out through the efforts of the Krieg engineers and the players.
Just as Old Li and Old Chen sat down, wanting to get some well-deserved rest, the rebel artillery fire fell like raindrops.
"Brothers, aren't they going to let us rest?"
Although they complained, the players quickly picked up their guns and entered combat mode.
Before long, the rebels swarmed toward the 19th Regiment's position like a tide. The Krieg Soldiers began exchanging fire with the rebels, the muzzle flashes appearing as if they were about to illuminate the morning mist of Vraks.
Although the Krieg Soldiers had prepared their defenses, they gradually began to lose ground under the violent, tidal assault of the rebels. Shells, like a pair of blood-red hands, tore through the makeshift defensive line the Krieg Soldiers had built.
"The 19th Regiment's entire line is in critical danger!!!"
"Old Chen, requesting support!"
"Brothers, I'm afraid we can't hold them off!"
"Dammit, why did Brother Gao have to make such a difficult level? He's afraid we'll beat it, isn't he?"
"Brothers, retreat!"
The few remaining soldiers quickly retreated to the 19th Regiment's command post.
"Who told you to fall back?" The Commander, Atar, held a loaded pistol to Old Chen's head.
"The front line can no longer be held, sir."
"So you just came down?" Colonel Atar's tone remained cold.
