58: Chapter 58 The Feud Between the Necromancers and the Ancients

The Necron originally lived on a planet in the remote Halo Stars Sector of the Milky Way. Their home planet orbited a star that emitted toxic radiation at every moment, constantly subjecting them to ionizing solar winds and intense radiation storms. Later, the Necron escaped their home planet through sub-light interstellar travel technology and established a vast empire in the galaxy, whose territory once covered most of the ancient Milky Way—but the limit of their lifespan always left them deeply mired in fear. It was during this period that they encountered another ancient race: the Old Ones.

"Brothers, is it my imagination? Why do they look so much like golden toads to me?"

"Brother, don't even say it—actually, you're not wrong, they really do look like that!"

"Brother Gao isn't messing with us, is he?"

The Necron sought the secret of immortality from the Old Ones, but were met with a refusal.

"On behalf of my race, I ask your nobility for the secret of immortality."

"I refuse."

"Why?"

"We are the enlighteners of the galaxy, while you are but a base, greedy, and highly aggressive lowly race."

The messenger conveyed the Old Ones' exact words to the Silent King, Szarekh. Out of jealousy toward the Old Ones and to unite the fractured dynasties, the Necron resolutely declared war on the Old Ones.

"Wait, man, they've already mastered immortality, and you're still going to war with them?"

"This is probably why the C'tan sought them out, but they didn't expect that this would be like inviting a wolf into the house."

"I mean, if they can achieve immortality, wouldn't their technology be several generations ahead of yours?"

However, the Old Ones possessed advanced technology and powerful psychic energy. Self-proclaimed enlighteners of the galaxy, they had sown many lives and created countless races, possessing extreme power. The Necron suffered defeat after defeat in the war until they discovered the C'tan.

Relying on the power of the C'tan, the Necron quickly gained the upper hand in the battle against the Old Ones. To this end, the Old Ones urgently created several races, including the Aeldari, who would later become the overlords of the Milky Way, and the highly combative and savage Orks.

On the other hand, the Necrons were not a monolithic entity. Under the instigation of The Deceiver, Mephet'ran, infighting broke out among the C'tan, eventually leaving only four major C'tan—this also gave the Old Ones a moment to breathe.

"Brothers, I'm speechless. The battle with the C'tan hasn't even finished and they start infighting. They deserve to be shattered into pieces later!"

"I'm just saying, couldn't they at least wait until the war is over before infighting?"

In the later stages of the war, the Old Ones created many more races as servants. However, their continuous and fierce battle with the Necrons completely disrupted the Warp, turning the once-calm Warp into a chaotic mess.

"So that's why the Warp we saw back when we were Grey Knights was so chaotic? This was the reason."

"The Old Ones were also driven to a dead end!"

Although the Necrons were in chaos for a while due to the C'tan devouring one another, they soon rallied. With the help of the C'tan technology provided by The Burner—Nyadra'zatha, they broke through the Old Ones' intricate Webway located within the Warp and began hunting the Old Ones on a massive scale throughout the Milky Way.

"Tsk, the tables have turned."

"The Old Ones should be at the end of their rope soon, but I'm curious how they were actually wiped out completely?"

However, the Old Ones still wanted to make one last desperate struggle, unaware that this would be the final glory of their race.
