13: Chapter 13 The House in Flames

"Let's go, let's get some loot. We'll need it for dinner tonight."

Chen Mo and Su Qing arrived in front of the Hospital's glass doors.

It was a bit of a pity that they still hadn't managed to see the Dean.

Seeing the cruel scene before her, Su Qing immediately covered her mouth, trying to keep her breathing low.

The Shoe Ghost's corpse was stuck inside the glass doors, the automatic doors opening and closing repeatedly, incessantly clamping down on the Shoe Ghost's head.

At this moment, the Shoe Ghost had already lost the feet it craved.

Only its severed lower legs were spurting blood, and its head, just like Wang Zhen's, had a huge wound opened in it.

Chen Mo walked over, taking out a transparent glass bottle and a sharp scalpel.

He cut into the Shoe Ghost's body, then packed it into the glass bottle to store it.

"Chen Mo, what are you doing?!"

"Oh! It's a gift for the Vending Machine when we go to buy things tonight."

"Are you thinking of contributing a hand?"

Hearing this, Su Qing immediately realized.

The condition to activate the Vending Machine was human blood; she had almost forgotten.

Yet Chen Mo was very attentive to details.

Although it was rumored in school that Chen Mo liked to observe everything around him, like a strange person.

However, after interacting with Chen Mo at this moment, Su Qing felt otherwise.

Those people had misunderstood Chen Mo; he was actually quite interesting.

After stuffing two severed hands into the glass bottle, Chen Mo confirmed it was enough to use for tonight and tomorrow night, then stopped.

He turned to search the Shoe Ghost's body to see if it was hiding anything good.

Since the woman troubled by spiders previously had hidden rewards, the Shoe Ghost must have them too.

Chen Mo searched it up and down, and finally, he found a pouch in the Shoe Ghost's pocket.

Opening it, he saw another skill card wrapped in green flowing light.

[Skill Card]

[Name: Thumb Struck by a Hammer]

[Quality: Low-Level]

[Attribute: Dimensional]

[Type: Consumable, 3 uses]

[Can be taken out of the dungeon: Yes]

[Effect: Use this skill card to touch the target; a small wooden mallet will strike the opponent's thumb. The feeling is like placing your toe on train tracks and having a train moving at 100 km/h run over it! Extremely painful.]

[After being hit by the skill card, the opponent will fall into a confused state]

"Damn!" After reading the skill description, Chen Mo's eyes lit up.

Although this skill card's lethality might not be as good as Fire Breathing, it belonged to the weakening category of skills, and it had a mandatory effect.

No matter how powerful the opponent was, as long as they were hit by the skill card, they would suffer a critical hit to their toe!

Thereby falling into a confused state.

"Chen Mo, what are you sneakily giggling about?" Su Qing walked toward Chen Mo, very puzzled.

"Oh! Nothing." Chen Mo put his hands behind his back.

He immediately stowed the skill card into his system inventory.

Su Qing stood on tiptoe, peering from the left and right sides of Chen Mo's shoulders.

She stepped behind Chen Mo.

Chen Mo raised his empty hands, feigning innocence.

Su Qing's eyes narrowed instantly, revealing the look of a famous detective.

"Seeing your expression so happy, are you hiding something good from me?"

"How could that be? The only way to obtain rewards is through mission ratings; you're overthinking it."

Chen Mo patted her shoulder and gave an awkward laugh.

He swung his arms and strode back.

"Let's go back."

Su Qing walked by Chen Mo's side and asked.

"By the way, how did you know the Dean would definitely help us?"

"It's simple."

Chen Mo brought Su Qing to the Vending Machine.

"The Shoe Ghost and Wang Zhen were both killed by an axe. They had no strength to resist and died instantly."

"Therefore... the person who killed them is definitely an existence with strength far surpassing ours."

Chen Mo pointed to the clean, shiny floor and said, "Zhao Fei's corpse is gone, right?"

Su Qing nodded.

Next, they arrived at the restroom where Wang Zhen had died.

Wang Zhen had his skull split open directly by an axe.

"Secondly, we've encountered multiple ghosts in the dungeon. Although these ghosts are terrifying, they all have one thing in common."

"What common point?"

"Out of three thousand weak waters, one only takes a single ladle."

"No matter how delicious your body is, I only take a part of it."

"The Shoe Ghost has no feet, so it wants to snatch others' feet. The woman troubled by spiders has a problem with her brain, so she wants others' heads."

"The Vending Machine has no hands, so it wants others' hands."

"And the only one capable of killing in a single blow is the strongest person in this dungeon."

Hearing Chen Mo's hint, Su Qing finally realized.

It really did seem to be the case!

"Then why exactly did the Dean kill Wang Zhen and the Shoe Ghost?"

"Because they were all members affecting the Hospital's reputation." Chen Mo pointed out the key point.

"Wang Zhen, as a cleaner, failed to complete his job duties."

"Because what he was supposed to clean wasn't dirt, but the ghosts within the Hospital."

"If it were just dirt, then everywhere we walked in the Hospital would be full of cobwebs and plasma; even with ten Wang Zhens, it would be impossible to finish before midnight."

"Although the difficulty of the Thriller Game is high, it is ultimately something that can be completed by human effort. Wang Zhen got the focus wrong from the start."

"After we entered the restroom, the restroom was indeed clean, but the toilet's flushing mechanism was moving incessantly. That invisible hand in the restroom was what Wang Zhen should have cleaned."

As he spoke, Chen Mo opened his system inventory and took out a piece of burlap.

He handed it to Su Qing.

"This is a prop I found before dragging Wang Zhen's corpse; you can take a look."

Su Qing took the burlap and checked the prop's attributes.

[Prop: Cleaner's Special Burlap, ID: D499]

[Use this burlap to wipe away dirty things, both visible and invisible]

"The Shoe Ghost wanted to report the entire Hospital and liked to steal the feet of Hospital staff, having a serious impact on the Hospital's reputation. It's the same."

"And the meaning of the Dean's existence is to clean away the trash that affects the Hospital's development."

Chen Mo brought Su Qing back to the location of the Vending Machine.

"If nothing unexpected happened, Zhao Fei's corpse was cleaned up by the Dean personally."

Chen Mo took a small UV searchlight out of the medical kit.

He shone it toward the spot where Zhao Fei had died.

Within the range of the blue-violet light, many splatter-like patterns appeared.

"When Zhao Fei died, blood was only flowing out from his severed arm, but look at these."

Chen Mo pointed at those splatter-like dots and continued: "Splattered blood is generally formed after being suddenly attacked by a blunt object, causing the blood to spray."

"The only one capable of such a feat is the Dean, who loves using an axe."

"Although the brain is a bit muddled, I think I understand. In short, the Dean is similar to the status of an ultimate cleaner," Su Qing said.

"Exactly! If we fail to do our jobs well, the outcome will most likely be being chopped by the Dean with an axe..."

"...splitting our heads open," Chen Mo joked.

[Damn, my brain is a bit confused too. Wait, let me check the game script to confirm.]

[This kid Many Children Many Blessings actually used the ghosts in the dungeon to complete his own mission.]

[Why do I have the illusion that I'm being led by the nose by this kid?]

Seeing the messages in the Management Group, Chen Mo chuckled with some self-satisfaction.

He dragged the Shoe Ghost's corpse and threw it to the mental patients in the pig cage.

He helped Su Qing complete the daily feeding task.

Afterward, Chen Mo and Su Qing arrived at the ward of the Class Monitor and the others.

The two Class Monitors were still painting, continuing their work from yesterday.

Chen Mo's pupils contracted slightly; this time, he finally saw clearly what those strange lines actually were.

Those lines were flames, completely covering the small house on the wall.

"A house ignited by flames?" Chen Mo silently noted in his heart.
