69: Chapter 69 The Wizard's House

The moment the door was pulled open, Chen Mo first heard a nursery rhyme.

It was like an ancient music box after the pull-string was activated.

While playing music, there were also little figures riding a merry-go-round spinning on top.

Horror background music has a characteristic: the piano is the main instrument, and there is no pattern between the notes.

When going shopping at a mall, businesses often hold events, placing a piano in front of the store to let customers play for entertainment.

And the vast majority of people just go up and play randomly.

The melodies these people play are actually very close to the melodies of horror music.

Perhaps because Chen Mo often watches horror movies, and his most played songs in his daily playlist are also suspense music.

So... this melody, which should have entered his ears and reduced a player's Sanity, was, on the contrary, a kind of enjoyment for Chen Mo.

"Hmm. Sounds good, I love listening to it!"

After the door was completely pulled open, the wall in front of him was covered in black liquid flowing up and down.

It was like the black intestines wriggling inside some kind of monster.

Chen Mo gripped the bone-scraping knife in his hand, passed through the wall, and walked inside.

After his arm made contact with those wriggling intestines, Chen Mo felt a huge suction force.

Two adjacent wriggling intestines clamped his arm in between them.

Under the effect of the rotation, Chen Mo was unable to retreat at all, and his body was gradually sucked into it.

Chen Mo turned his head to the side, his nose bridge suffering pressure as if someone had sat on his face, and his breathing paused for a split second.

He struggled to pass through, stumbling and pressing his palms onto the ground.

When he raised his head again, Chen Mo saw the scene before him and was somewhat shocked.

"Is this the Secret Room?"

Chen Mo had originally thought he would enter some small wooden cabin, or a Villa, or even an ancient castle where a witch concocted potions.

But he never expected that the world before his eyes would be so beautiful.

Chen Mo stood on a lush, green hill, with a lake shimmering with starlight in front of him.

Looking up, an orange-yellow moon hung in the purple-black night sky.

All around were dense forests, and they were all pine trees; viewed from high above, they looked like little huts sitting on the ground.

Behind Chen Mo was that half-open door, where the black intestines were still wriggling incessantly.

"So... this should be something similar to what is in cultivation novels."

"A Blessed Land?"

"It's just that cultivators hide in some mountain cave or secret realm, while mages hide in a small forest from a fairy tale."

Sam mentioned in his self-narrative that some potions were hidden here.

They were hidden inside a mirror.

Chen Mo held his chin and thought quietly for a moment.

The map of the Villa was very small, only 1200 square meters, yet the world before his eyes was incomparably vast.

Chen Mo suspected that if he rashly ventured deep into the dark forest, he might encounter some terrifying monsters.

Besides, for something like a mirror, it's absolutely impossible to just shout "mirror" and have it jump out on its own.

Finding a mirror in the forest was no better than looking for a needle in a haystack.

"So... is it actually far away, yet right in front of my eyes?"

"There is one more thing that can serve as a mirror."

Chen Mo flicked his palm, taking the hill and the tree closest to the lakeside as points, and used Threading the Needle to connect an invisible diagonal thread in the air.

Then Chen Mo leaped up, stepped onto the wire, and maintained his balance.

He slid down along the wire all at once.

Stepping onto the soft lawn, Chen Mo approached the lakeside.

He leaned his head over the bank and saw his own reflection in the clear lake surface.

"The lake water is the biggest mirror; jump in."

Chen Mo took off his clothes, struck a standard diving pose, and leaped down.

With a "splash," his body submerged into the lake.

The cold water parted along the curves of his body; Chen Mo poked his head out of the water and swam toward the very center of the lake.

When his palm just reached the center point, Chen Mo felt a strong itch at his ankle, accompanied by an intense stinging pain.

It was as if a hand was scratching the sole of his foot.

"What the hell? I'm not ticklish."

A ghost hand suddenly reached out from the bottom of the water and grabbed Chen Mo's ankle.

"Damn it!"

Chen Mo let out a scream, and his entire person instantly disappeared from the lake surface, dragged down.

A whirlpool appeared on the lake surface, then became smaller and smaller until it completely disappeared.

The lake surface returned to calm once again.

"Drip! Drip!"

Chen Mo had fallen into a coma, and cold dew splashed onto his face.

His eyelids twitched slightly, and Chen Mo opened his eyes.

Holding his head, he raised his upper body.

"The Thriller Game always pulls this dizziness stunt, just like being knocked unconscious by a baseball bat. Can you give me a different way to get dizzy next time?"

Standing up, Chen Mo pressed his palm against his chest.

A layer of blue light enveloped his entire body.

[Select Clothing: Doctor's White Coat]

Putting on the doctor's white coat and adjusting the collar, Chen Mo looked at the world before him.

This time, what appeared before Chen Mo's eyes was a Villa.

It looked exactly the same as the one he lived in.

However...

The color of this Villa was black, and here it was also night.

Outside the fence, there was no town, just tombstones one after another.

This Villa seemed to be situated in a graveyard!

The windows were all fan-shaped, and the light shining from inside was scarlet red.

Various ghost shadows flickered inside the Villa.

Chen Mo casually looked up at one of the windows.

The semi-circular one on the left contained the shadow of a man holding a fruit knife, stabbing at the shadow of another man.

The one on the right contained the shadow of a werewolf, its blood-red maw wide open, not knowing what it was eating.

Even more magical was that, whenever Chen Mo looked at a window, the movements inside that window would reach Chen Mo's ears.

Automatically blocking the sound effects of the other windows.

On the left was a man's scream, along with the muffled sound of a knife plunging into a body.

On the right, it was "crunch, crunch," like the sound of a dog breaking bones.

When Chen Mo didn't look at any window, his ears were empty.

There was no sound at all.

"Interesting."

Blue light condensed in Chen Mo's hand; the bone-scraping knife turned into the Deans Axe, and he arrived in front of the door.

He tapped the door panel lightly with a "creak."

The heavy wooden door in front of him opened automatically.

Chen Mo first poked his head out to take a look inside.

In the living room were several worn leather sofas and heavy wooden furniture, and tapestries depicting ancient magical scenes hung on the walls.

A green flame that never went out burned in the fireplace.

The surrounding bookshelves were filled with various magic books, the edges of the pages yellowed, revealing the traces of time.

The overall color scheme was purple, paired with black walls.

It looked like a standard Wizard's Home.

Chains hung from the ceiling, hooking onto black iron cages.

Those iron cages were swaying in the air.

Because Chen Mo had drunk the potion, the iron cages that would appear merely swaying to ordinary people were, in reality, all holding white, transparent people inside.

They wouldn't speak, just hugging their knees, leaning inside the iron cages with despair on their faces.

Occasionally, when Chen Mo passed under those iron cages, this group of transparent people would shift their gaze to look at Chen Mo, the living person.
