203: Chapter 203 Wedding Night

"Why does everything feel so real yet fake? What is truly real? What is fake?" Chen Mo was filled with doubt at this moment.

Ten minutes later, Chen Mo arrived at the Su Family residence.

He had thought he would be able to use his items, but it still didn't work.

The main quest updated again.

[Main Quest: Complete the consummation]

"This..." Chen Mo was suddenly a little panicked.

The bridal sedan chair landed, and Chen Mo was ushered into the Su Family residence.

It was incredibly lively inside; large round tables filled the courtyard, already set with delicious food and wine.

All the aunts and relatives came out, grabbing Chen Mo's hands one by one to offer their congratulations.

"Oh my! This is our Su Family's son-in-law; he looks like such a refined talent!"

Chen Mo was completely bewildered, as he had no experience.

He had never been married, let alone participated in an ancient wedding ceremony, so he could only follow the steps based on books and movies he had seen.

Soon, Chen Mo entered the central hall, where the ancestral tablets of the Su Family were displayed.

An old man with a white beard stood to one side, and a man and a woman sat on either side.

They were Master Su and his wife, respectively.

And this old man was the so-called master of ceremonies.

Chen Mo turned his head and saw the woman standing beside him, wearing a red bridal veil.

She was dressed in a red wedding gown, with auspicious patterns embroidered in gold and silver thread shimmering in the light of the red candle.

A multicolored ribbon was tied around her waist, accentuating her graceful figure.

Chen Mo stood one shoulder-width apart from her and could smell a faint scent of locust flowers.

It looked... like she was a normal person.

The hall was resplendent, and the red candle flickered.

The newlyweds were dressed in wedding attire, looking radiant, with laughter echoing all around them.

The master of ceremonies sang out: "Bow to Heaven and Earth!"

Chen Mo didn't know if what he had read in novels was correct, so he could only clumsily imitate the bride's posture.

The two stood facing each other, then slowly turned to face Heaven and Earth.

They then knelt on the ground, hands clasped, and bowed devoutly.

This bow was to thank Heaven and Earth for bestowing their marriage and to pray for their blessing and a happy union.

"Bow to the parents!"

Chen Mo stood up and faced his father-in-law and mother-in-law, who were seated in the seats of honor.

Master Su's face carried a look of dignity mixed with gratification, while his mother-in-law was full of kindness.

Chen Mo was always half a beat slower than the young lady of the Su Family, kowtowing deeply.

This bow was to thank his parents for raising him and to express his respect and filial piety.

Master Su saw the corners of his daughter's mouth turn up slightly, and she nodded slightly, with tears shimmering in her eyes.

An old father sending his daughter off to be married, giving the daughter he had carefully raised to another man—anyone would feel some reluctance.

The solemn voice of the master of ceremonies rang out again: "Bow to each other!"

Chen Mo was dressed in a bright red wedding robe, his posture upright, his handsome face full of nervousness.

The bride was draped in a gorgeous wedding gown, her hair elegant, her face beautiful, gentle and moving.

Beneath the red bridal veil was a petite, exquisite nose, and lips that were naturally red, like delicate flower petals.

She moved with light, lotus-like steps, elegant and composed.

Occasionally she smiled softly, like spring flowers blooming.

It was clear that the bride was very excited.

Chen Mo slowly bowed, offering an insincere bow to this unknown bride of his.

In this bow, there was the heartbeat of first meeting, the warmth of knowing and accompanying each other, and expectations for the years to come.

Gathering thousands of emotions into one, this was what Chen Mo felt from her presence.

As for Chen Mo's side, there was the initial panic, a look of complete bewilderment, and a sliver of Fear.

The master of ceremonies said a few more words of congratulations, completing the wedding ceremony process.

The bride could now go to the wedding room to rest, waiting for her husband to lift her red bridal veil and complete the final step of the consummation ceremony.

"Husband~, then this concubine will take her leave first and wait for you in the wedding room~"

"Hiss..." A chill seeped between Chen Mo's teeth.

That voice was as coquettish as it could be; in modern times, it would be a standard artificial cutesy voice.

But there was no help for it; it sounded good, and he did indeed enjoy listening to it...

As for Chen Mo, he was supported by various relatives who kept pouring him drinks.

Chen Mo couldn't actually get drunk, but sometimes, pretending to be drunk could allow one to uncover some secrets.

With flushed cheeks, Chen Mo kept offering toasts, and just like that, by four or five in the morning, Chen Mo walked with unsteady steps, stumbling toward the wedding room.

The wedding room was easy to identify; it was the most festive one in the entire courtyard, with large red lanterns hung high.

In the middle of the night, it was like a giant lantern, dyeing the surrounding darkness deep red.

Behind him followed some children, constantly tugging at Chen Mo's sleeves, asking for red envelopes.

"Take it! Take it! Your son-in-law here has plenty of money!"

Chen Mo took out the money he had at his waist and retrieved some small red bags from inside.

Each bag contained a few copper coins.

The children took the red envelopes and ran off happily, one by one.

Still shouting there.

"Time for the consummation~"

With a creak, he pushed open the double wooden doors.

Chen Mo walked in and saw his wife sitting on the wedding bed.

"It wouldn't really be time for the consummation, would it? If I don't consummate, I can't complete the mission?" Chen Mo was even more panicked inside.

"Husband!" The bride was incredibly excited.

Chen Mo closed the wooden door, walked over, and sat beside her.

At this moment, the fragrance on the bride was even richer, making Chen Mo really feel like he was falling into a trap of gentle indulgence.

Even knowing it was a trap, he had a slight urge to step into it.

The bride picked up a tray from the table beside her, on which two cups of wine were placed.

The wine cups were made of jade, and in their glistening, it made one unable to distinguish reality from illusion.

She handed Chen Mo a cup and asked: "Husband is a Juren, can you compose a poem?"

Chen Mo nodded.

"Then, on this wedding night, can Husband compose a poem for me?" the bride asked again.

Chen Mo searched his memory; in many ancient families, there were indeed some small games played before the consummation.

This was also a part of cultivating feelings.

Chen Mo certainly wasn't worried; Tang poetry and Song lyrics—couldn't he just borrow one to use?

"Leaning against the wind, I smile to myself; facing the moon, I frown even more. My silk sleeves are still thin, my painted brows not yet even. Oh, to have the sun upon the flowers, to shine forever on the spring of our wedding night."

Hearing the poem Chen Mo recited, the bride was clearly taken aback.

She probably hadn't expected... that Chen Mo was actually a cultured person.

And these verses described a woman's beauty and tenderness vividly, used to describe her.

The bride's face turned bright red, and she raised her sleeve to cover her shy face.

Afterward, she handed over a cup of wine.

She threaded her soft arm through Chen Mo's arm, preparing to have Chen Mo drink the nuptial wine with her.

Chen Mo didn't think too much and drank the wine in one gulp.

"Boom!"

As if his brain had been knocked unconscious, Chen Mo only felt the world spinning, and he instantly passed out.

At the same time, a section of strange memories flooded into his mind.

"Su Wanqing, you base woman, get out of my sight!"

"I feel sick just looking at you!"

"On our wedding night, I discover my bride is not a virgin—I've married a loose woman!"
