2: Chapter 2 Key
Chen Mo stared at the messages flooding the screen in front of him, stunned for five seconds.
The chat box was locked; he couldn't send any messages and could only watch this group of people having a blast discussing.
"Hurry up and start. I want to try out my newly made Shoe Ghost right now, along with the Axe Murderer."
"Don't be impatient. The purpose of us creating this game is to enjoy watching these players struggle for survival, fight, and step by step descend into madness."
"Impatience won't get you anywhere!"
"After the game ends, we can even review the footage and re-enjoy their terror."
Damn, these guys are sick. Do they even live on Earth like I do?
Even Chen Mo, who had a penchant for the macabre, couldn't help but get goosebumps after seeing these explicit chat logs.
Because someone was watching their every move from start to finish.
The feeling of being watched by an unknown entity was very Lovecraftian.
And judging by their tone, it seemed as if they were the ones who created this dungeon.
However, what he could be certain of now was that he wasn't just a player; he had become an Administrator who could peek at the screen.
This meant he could obtain important intelligence directly from the group chat.
For now, the first piece of useful information he had obtained was that the Doctor profession was actually the safest!
"Chen Mo, why don't you choose the Doctor profession?"
Just as Chen Mo was watching the chat group, his classmates walked over.
The bespectacled class monitor forced Chen Mo to accept in a commanding tone.
Chen Mo looked up and sized up the five classmates. Except for the school beauty Su Qing, the four boys were all staring at him aggressively.
It seemed like if Chen Mo didn't agree, they would teach him a lesson.
Upon hearing this, Chen Mo smiled and replied, "That suits me perfectly!"
"You guys are so good to me."
The classmates heard this and exchanged knowing smiles.
By offloading the most dangerous and horrifying profession to Chen Mo first, they felt like they would be able to survive.
Sacrificing the life of a freak like Chen Mo to ensure the survival of more people seemed perfectly reasonable to them.
Su Qing was the second luckiest person after Chen Mo.
In the minds of the boys led by the class monitor, the Nurse profession was the second most dangerous.
Using the excuse that Su Qing was wearing a Nurse's outfit and that her gender was a perfect match for the profession, they forced her to choose the Nurse profession.
"Y-you can't treat me like this!"
Su Qing covered her eyes; despite having no tears in them, she insisted on putting on a pitiful act.
This might have worked in normal times.
But now, facing life and death, no one paid her any mind.
"Stop crying. You'll need to cooperate with me to treat Patients later."
"Actually, sometimes your eyes can deceive you. It's still unknown who the real lucky one is."
Upon hearing this, Su Qing looked completely hopeless.
The game started at hell-level difficulty, and Chen Mo was still talking about winning the lottery.
The four boys next to them, who had low-difficulty roles, were still trembling uncontrollably.
She curled her lips, "You've certainly gotten into character quickly. You're really optimistic, Vice President!"
"This guy called Many Children Many Blessings is interesting. Everyone else's heart rate is over 160, but this kid is only at 80."
"He's got some nerve. Let's see how I scare the pee out of him in a bit."
"Hehehe, I just love bullying the brave ones!"
Many Children Many Blessings was Chen Mo's game ID, generated randomly when the panel first appeared.
It hadn't asked for his opinion; it was randomly generated.
"Profession matching complete. Starting teleportation..."
The discussion vanished.
He opened his eyes again.
Chen Mo found himself in a narrow room, facing a brown diagnostic desk.
A line of text was written in the top left corner.
"Chief Doctor: Many Children Many Blessings"
"15 minutes until the first Patient arrives. Please prepare yourself."
The text prompt ended.
Chen Mo stood up and walked to the mirror, noticing that his appearance and clothes hadn't changed at all.
"Prepare yourself"βthese three words definitely didn't mean he should just sit there and rest.
He must do something during this time.
Grabbing a key from the table, Chen Mo began to search around.
However, the room was empty. Besides the desk, the only thing there was a wardrobe.
The moment he opened the wardrobe, a pungent smell of blood rushed towards him.
It was filled with women's hair, dense and thick like a spider web.
Chen Mo reached in and yanked these strands of hair out.
He found a white coat covered in bloodstains.
"Clothing: Doctor's White Coat. After wearing it, monsters will think you are a professional doctor, masking your human scent."
This was the reason why the Doctor profession was the safest.
You were gifted a life-saving artifact at the start; as long as you wore it, low-level monsters would instead treat you as a great terror.
Chen Mo didn't hesitate and immediately put it on.
"To treat Patients, I'll need tools."
Chen Mo shifted his gaze toward the door. The group chat had just said that the preparation time was for players to go out and find items.
However, due to cowardice, most novices preferred to stay in the safety of their rooms and not make a move.
He pressed his palm against the doorknob, turned it, and opened it.
The aging door emitted a teeth-grinding creak.
Chen Mo poked his head out, looked at the empty corridor, and stepped out.
He arrived next door, where it was marked "Storage Room."
Chen Mo tentatively knocked on the door. There was no response, only the "thump, thump, thump" sound of him banging on the door.
It made Su Qing's scalp tingle in the emergency room next door. Wasn't it supposed to be 15 minutes of preparation time?
Why was someone already offering door-to-door service so soon?
Then, Chen Mo felt for the pocket of his white coat and took out that golden key.
He inserted it into the keyhole and turned it, but it wouldn't open at all.
Chen Mo kicked the door of the storage room, but brute force didn't work either.
"Door: HP -1"
"Many Children Many Blessings: HP -10"
With that one kick, he dealt 100 damage to the enemy but took 1000 damage himself.
"Hehehe, there are only 10 minutes left. If he can't find the profession-matching items, he'll be eaten by the angry Patients soon."
"He definitely can't imagine that the key to the storage room is actually in the pocket of that little girl next door, and his key is the one for the little girl's room."
"The Doctor and Nurse are professions that must cooperate. Countless rookies have died due to mutual suspicion, getting wiped out in the very first level."
"Because the Doctor is protected by the white coat, they won't die early in the game. However, if the Nurse cannot get the key in the Doctor's pocket, she will definitely die in her room."
Chen Mo watched the messages in the chat box, thinking that these people were quite well-versed in human nature.
Indeed, if the two people couldn't exchange keys, it would be game over right from the start.
Although the Doctor had the white coat's buff, judging from what these people said, once those high-level monsters were released, he would need the items in the medical kit to continue completing the mission.
And if Chen Mo never went to open Su Qing's room door, once Su Qing died inside, he would never be able to get the medical kit.
"They really have to make me interact with this woman..."
Chen Mo sighed, spun the key on his finger, and arrived at the door of the emergency room.
This time, the key inserted easily. He turned the handle, and the door opened.
Just as he pushed the door open, a snow-white pillow was thrown at him.
Chen Mo caught it with one hand.
"Chen Mo?!" Su Qing looked surprised.
"Are you here to save me?"
Chen Mo didn't answer; he walked straight up to Su Qing and circled her a few times.
Observing closely.
Finally, he noticed something on the inside of her thigh, clad in black silk.
He saw a golden key tucked in there!
