28: Chapter 28 Nightmare
The eyes exposed within the bandages were filled with shock and Fear.
Unbearable agony surged from his severed arm, like a floodgate opening, without any buildup.
It unleashed all the pain at once!
The Hospital Director let out heart-wrenching roars and gasps; what kind of experience was pain?
He hadn't experienced it in ten years.
"Is it a prop? A C-rank prop? Impossible, how could there be a C-rank prop in a novice dungeon?"
"You are just a novice player!"
Having lost an arm, he finally understood how Chen Mo had managed to do this.
Right within this narrow Hospital space, using the floor and ceiling as anchor points, he had created nearly transparent steel wires, filling the entire space like a spider web.
And they were being controlled by the youth before him.
The Piggy Girl hadn't taken any sleeping pills; she had a pair of scissors that could automatically untie bindings.
She had first lured him into the range of the steel wire trap, then controlled it with her fingers.
Releasing all the steel wires in an instant.
At this moment, hundreds of steel wires were piercing the Hospital Director's entire body in irregular patterns, pinning him firmly to the ground.
Although his Ghost Power was strong, the angles at which these steel wires were arranged were extremely tricky, creating a combined force between them.
If the Hospital Director exerted force with his arm to try and break free,
then the steel wires on other parts of his body would share the pulling force from his arm.
Thereby achieving balance.
The Hospital Director was like a butterfly stuck in a spider web; even if he were several times the size of the spider, he couldn't move at all.
A mouse can eat an elephant!
An hour ago, Chen Mo had figured out the specific way to use the Threading the Needle prop.
It could be called an original playstyle.
Because this prop Chen Mo obtained belonged to a free-form category.
It was like a child playing with building blocks; the number of blocks was limited, but the structures built were different every time.
This prop possessed infinite possibilities, and the extent to which it could be used depended entirely on the user's own creativity.
Thus, Chen Mo used Threading the Needle to create a birdcage.
Just waiting for the prey to enter, then he could complete the capture by controlling the threads with his fingers.
The Threading the Needle prop didn't have much lethality, but it was rich in functionality.
"Lord Hospital Director, do you still remember how you entered the Thriller Game 10 years ago?" Chen Mo questioned.
Upon hearing this, the Hospital Director's pupils instantly trembled violently.
The sound of teeth grinding within the bandages became faster and finer, as if he could grind his own teeth into powder.
Compared to the Fear of losing his arm earlier, what could describe the Hospital Director's mood right now...
...could only be scalp-numbing terror!
"No! That wasn't my fault! The ones at fault were those who caused the death of my wife and my son!"
"I am not wrong, I am right, I am right!"
The Hospital Director's body trembled violently; he really wanted to reach out and cover his face.
Even though his face was already covered by bandages.
"Having hidden it for 10 years, aren't you tired?"
"I think... every night when you sleep, you must be having nightmares."
"No! No! No! It's not my fault! I just repeated what those wicked people did."
"I am a child abandoned by the heavens, I am so pitiful; what the heavens could not compensate me with, I had to obtain with my own hands!"
Su Qing was stunned upon hearing this.
Could this be the legendary easter egg after solving the game's mystery?
And this side quest was too bizarre.
Chen Mo actually made her use her own body to attract the Hospital Director's attention.
No.
Even if Su Qing were slow, she understood that this was definitely not a simple hidden quest.
"Chen Mo, what exactly is going on?" Su Qing asked, peeking her little head out from his shoulder.
"That will require him to speak it out himself!"
Chen Mo extended his palm and grabbed the bandages on the Hospital Director's face.
Feeling the bandages that seemed glued to his face, a clear sense of loosening came through.
The Hospital Director's expression appeared even more terrified.
Repeatedly begging Chen Mo.
"Don't, I beg you, don't uncover my bandages!"
Chen Mo was not bewitched by the evil voice.
He pulled it off with force!
The bandages on the Hospital Director's face were torn off by Chen Mo and fell to the ground.
Looking at the true face revealed within the bandages, Su Qing immediately covered her mouth, "How could it be like this!"
Unwrapping the bandages that had been worn for 10 years, simultaneously unwrapping...
...was also the hypocritical mask this man had worn on his face for a full 10 years.
February 2, 2038, 12:00 AM.
I prepared all the materials the man had spoken of and took a taxi to No. 18 Hospital.
It was midnight; even if there were Patients in the Hospital needing care at night, most of the time it was deserted.
Most of the Patients were asleep, so it was convenient for me to act.
Because I had previously been a doctor, naturally I had the best disguise.
In that pitch-black, lightless corridor, a white coat would even make the security guard on duty at midnight think I was some well-known doctor.
I quietly walked into the maternity and infant room and used sleeping drugs to knock out the Nurse on duty.
I dragged her out of the room and threw her into the utility room nearby.
To prevent anyone from coming to cause trouble, I locked the door and used paper to seal the windows that allowed a view inside.
This way, for at least an hour, no one would come to disturb me.
I took a needle out of my backpack, pricked my own finger, and dripped blood into a bowl containing ink.
After stirring it evenly, I followed the blueprint the man gave me, dipped into the ink on the floor of the room, and sketched some strange patterns.
The pattern looked like a bottomless black vortex, surrounded by some brand-new languages that I couldn't even find on the internet.
Afterward, I read out those incomprehensible characters according to the pronunciation booklet the man gave me.
Halfway through reading, I suddenly felt like a madman.
I was clearly the director of the mental Hospital, but wasn't what I was doing something a Patient should be doing?
But upon thinking of my beautiful wife and son telling me of their suffering, I had to continue.
Because reality was too cruel, I could only believe in the unknown.
When I finished reading those languages, I didn't expect it to be just as the man had said.
Those characters seemed to come alive; their shapes were like musical notes, slowly floating in the air.
Then, like ghosts, they drilled into the bodies of the infants who were sleeping soundly!
When I saw this scene, I knew that the man had indeed not lied to me.
I was incomparably excited, and I couldn't control my laughter at all.
Before the security guard in the Hospital arrived, I did the craziest thing of my life.
I doused the floor with alcohol, along with myself, lit a cigarette, and threw it into the ocean of alcohol!
With a "whoosh" sound.
There was no extra reaction time.
I could only feel heat, very hot; I was like a glowing light bulb, illuminating the dark night.
It's just that... when I saw the figures of those infants, one by one being swallowed by the flames, in my heart...
...it felt like it had been pierced by a thorn.
I know, it will forever become my nightmare!
