65: Chapter 65 The Person Who Loves to Drill into Mirrors
A hanged ghost had been clinging to the top of the wife's head all along.
A coarse hemp rope was tied to the ceiling and looped around the hanged ghost's neck.
Its body swayed back and forth in the air.
Two ghost hands clutched the wife's head, its eyes scarlet, while it extended a slimy, elongated tongue, repeatedly licking her scalp.
"The itch that Anna mentioned is because of this fellow."
What was even more terrifying was that because the wife's body had gone limp, the hanged ghost could no longer reach her while suspended in the air.
And so...
It paddled its limbs through the air, moving closer toward Chen Mo's head.
Two deathly pale ghost hands aimed for Chen Mo's neck, intending to strangle him.
"Can you see me?"
The hanged ghost arrived in front of Chen Mo, the yin energy exhaled from its mouth spraying onto the bridge of his nose, and it asked in a low voice.
Chen Mo did not answer. He scratched his head and said, "It might be the shampoo. Honestly, to hide some pocket money lately, I've been buying the ones that are about to expire."
"Huh?!" Upon hearing this, the hanged ghost paused for a second.
It immediately realized that Chen Mo had just been bluffing; he couldn't see it at all.
"Hehe, unless he has consumed a magic potion, I am an intangible ghost. He can't kill me at all," the hanged ghost thought triumphantly.
What was even worse was...
Chen Mo discovered that not only could he see ghosts, but he could even translate ghost language directly into Chinese.
Therefore, for Chen Mo, ghost language was now effectively his native tongue!
"So that's how it is. Aside from Bob, the toy bear who possesses a physical form, and that disfigured face that can be seen directly in the Basement..."
"...other ghosts cannot cause harm as long as they remain unseen."
Chen Mo reached a hand into his pocket and gripped the bone-scraping knife tightly.
He continued, "Sigh... I must be crazy too. Ghosts are just like trash; I'm not even afraid of them, alright?"
The hanged ghost felt extremely annoyed upon hearing Chen Mo's words.
It had originally intended to just consume a bit of mental value and slip away, but it hadn't expected the brat before it to be so arrogant.
"Brat, today I'll let you see what a truly fierce ghost is!"
After speaking, the hanged ghost instantly seized Chen Mo's neck with both hands.
Chen Mo didn't react at all.
Then, it extended its long, slender tongue, reaching toward Chen Mo's mouth.
"Hehe, next, I'm going to suck all your yang energy dry!"
Watching that tens-of-centimeters-long tongue inching closer to him.
The tip of the tongue trembled in the air.
Chen Mo held his breath, bracing himself.
The moment an invisible force pried Chen Mo's mouth open, the hanged ghost's tongue suddenly accelerated!
Like a sharp sword, it seemed intent on making Chen Mo perform a live sword-swallowing act.
Chen Mo was faster; a sharp flash of the blade slashed before his eyes.
A spinning white flash appeared on the hanged ghost's tongue, instantly severing it, and thick black smoke poured frantically from the stump.
"Ah!" The hanged ghost's body was instantly sent flying.
The severed tip of the tongue wriggled on the ground like a giant worm.
The rope binding its body seemed to possess a life of its own.
Upon encountering danger, it whisked the ghost away in a rapid retreat.
The hanged ghost's true sanctuary was, in fact, the vanity in front of them.
It transformed into a black shadow and dove into the mirror.
After a ripple of transparent energy fluctuated across the mirror's surface, it returned to a normal looking-glass.
Chen Mo quickly gave chase, but the mirror appeared normal, reflecting only the pitch-black living room.
"Brat, you can see me! Hehe, but now that I've entered the mirror, you can't find me anymore."
The wicked voice echoed in his mind.
Chen Mo said nothing, raised the bone-scraping knife in his hand, and channeled Ghost Power into it.
The bone-scraping knife extended freely, transforming into an axe.
Then, Chen Mo raised his arm sharply, his eyes filled with intense killing intent.
"If that's the case, then don't ever come out again."
"Wait! Don't do this!" the hanged ghost pleaded from within the mirror.
It never imagined that the man before it was actually a mage!
Able to turn a small knife into an axe.
Only a mage could do such a thing!
Chen Mo didn't respond. His arm swung the axe, carving a semi-circular arc of slashing light through the air.
The axe head struck the center of the mirror, and with a "bang," the surface shattered instantly.
Wisps of black mist steamed out from within, accompanied by a foul stench.
Then, the soles of Chen Mo's feet stepped into a thick, slimy liquid.
He looked down.
He discovered that the wooden drawers of the vanity had all opened, and dark red blood was flowing out from them.
"This vanity can bleed? Well, that's a new one."
The black mist before him gradually dissipated, revealing an inner space behind the mirror.
Chen Mo flicked his lighter, and a small flame bloomed in the darkness.
He walked a few steps to the vanity and reached out to grab a card hidden in the inner space.
[Skill Card]
[Name: The One Who Loves to Enter Mirrors]
[Quality: Low-level]
[Attribute: Evil Spirit]
[Type: Consumable, 3 uses remaining]
[Can be taken out of the dungeon: Yes]
[Effect: After using this skill card, well, you know—do you like hiding in mirrors? Do you like traveling through mirrors?]
[Using this skill card consumes 200 Mental Points per use]
[Note: Skill cards with the Evil Spirit attribute may cause you to degenerate into a ghost if used too frequently!]
Looking at the function of this skill card for the first time, Chen Mo felt it was very powerful.
After all, just now, if the hanged ghost hadn't been such a chatterbox, Chen Mo really wouldn't have known it had hidden inside the mirror in such a dark environment.
Chen Mo might have thought it was crawling along the ceiling, just like Bob.
He might have even opened the Management Group to see if the folks there were discussing where the hanged ghost was hiding.
Therefore, after using this skill to hide in a mirror, no one outside the mirror can see you.
Yet, you can still launch attacks from within the mirror world.
For instance, Chen Mo could hide in a mirror and shoot black cards at people outside.
If the target's Mental Points are lower than Chen Mo's, they would be wounded on the spot before they could even react.
Combined with Chen Mo's Stealth Attack skill, which doubles the damage, it would completely max out his offensive capabilities.
Chen Mo could carry a small mirror with him for convenience.
Or he could just borrow one from the girls in his team.
Mirrors are essential equipment for women, even after entering the Thriller Game.
However, this skill actually requires Mental Points to activate, and it costs 200 points each time.
Since it's an Evil Spirit attribute skill, using it too often might turn him into a demon or something similar.
Chen Mo put the skill card away; unless he faced a life-or-death crisis or needed to evade an enemy's onslaught, he'd better not use it.
It was best not to use it.
He still had his trump card, "Truth or Dare," which could serve as a buffer.
The wife, who had fainted on the floor, now had her hair restored to its golden color.
Chen Mo hoisted her onto his back and walked slowly toward the bedroom.
However, just as he was passing by the floor-to-ceiling window on the first floor...
...a cat's meow suddenly reached Chen Mo's ears!
It wasn't the gentle meow of a cat.
It sounded more like someone had tied a rope around a cat's head, hung it in the air, and was slowly tightening the rope.
It was the cry for help a cat makes before it dies.
