50: Chapter 50 Lavender

Through the glass door, Chen Mo saw Alice unconscious on the floor.

Just as Chen Mo had thought, he grabbed the doorknob, but no matter how hard he pulled, he couldn't open it.

Right behind Alice.

A patch of something that looked like spilled water appeared on the floor, and then that black mass began to distort and coalesce.

It gradually transformed into a black humanoid figure.

Five fingers, like withered tree branches, reached out and slowly extended toward Alice's neck.

"Damn!"

Chen Mo used to be a person with a mouth cleaner than a pair of briefs, but ever since entering this Ocean Avenue dungeon, he couldn't help but spout profanities.

It felt like he was constantly being toyed with by ghosts.

What made it even worse was that he could only say "fuck" and "shit," and couldn't swear in his native tongue.

Chen Mo turned his head and saw a wooden chair on the balcony.

He picked it up and smashed it directly against the glass door.

A loud "Bang!" rang out.

Spiderweb-like cracks appeared on the glass door in front of him, and just as the glass door shattered into pieces and scattered all over the floor, the ghost figure before him vanished.

Chen Mo immediately rushed in and scooped Alice up into his arms.

Living room.

The lights were dim; it was already 2:00 AM.

Anna was repeatedly wiping Alice's forehead with a towel. The child's face was flushed, and after taking her temperature, it was as high as 39 degrees.

Anna naturally assumed that Alice was feeling unwell in the middle of the night due to a cold, which was why she had cried out in pain.

Beside them, Peter tried to explain that it was because of the house.

Clearly, Anna didn't believe Peter's excuse and instead launched into a rant at him.

Chen Mo was also dragged into the scolding.

"Why did you smash the balcony glass door?" Anna asked.

Chen Mo didn't know how to answer. Should he say he saw a ghost?

Anna would definitely not believe him.

Unless she experienced a supernatural event herself.

Chen Mo glanced at the time; another 15 minutes had passed.

His family members had all been "arranged" one by one, so now only Anna was left.

Chen Mo felt that it was very necessary for Anna to be given a good scare.

Otherwise, there was no way to make his wife take it seriously.

There was a special rule in this dungeon: Chen Mo's range of movement was restricted to within the Haunted House; he couldn't leave.

During the day, Chen Mo had tried.

When he reached the edge of the house, there was a barrier similar to an energy grid that restricted his movement.

And the background setting given by the system was: "Sam Ricardo, you are currently on a 15-day annual vacation."

No. 18 Hospital had clear regulations: the game time for a dungeon was 3 days.

But this dungeon had no specified time limit.

In other words... if Chen Mo didn't find a way to break the deadlock, he might very well be stuck in this dungeon forever.

Combining this with the 15-day annual vacation, there were two possibilities.

One was that the game time was 15 days; once exceeded, it meant the game was failed.

The other possibility was.

After 15 days, Chen Mo would be able to leave the range of the house.

Chen Mo believed more in the former: the game time was at most 15 days.

And if he worked backward from that.

That would be...

Chen Mo's family members could leave this range; if there were clues hidden outside the house, he would need to guide them.

Issue commands, have his family members execute them, and then bring the clues back to him.

It was just like "Travel Frog," only a high-difficulty version of "Travel Frog."

If he couldn't solve the problem using an American mindset, it was even possible that Anna would divorce him tomorrow.

"Difficult, so difficult." Chen Mo felt like he had eaten a piece of pure dark chocolate.

Incredibly bitter.

"Let's take Alice to the Hospital," Chen Mo suggested.

"I was just about to tell you. Why didn't you consider this when we bought this house?" Anna said, glaring at Chen Mo.

"Uh..." Chen Mo was a bit surprised.

His wife, who was always as gentle as jade, seemed like a different person now that her child was suffering.

As expected, once there are children, the creature known as a husband just becomes a beast of burden.

"Anna, I don't quite understand what you mean."

The dungeon was about letting players find memory fragments and then piece them together themselves.

"This is the suburbs, there's only one private Hospital, and a visit costs at least 5,000 dollars."

"And it's not necessarily effective for Alice; they might even prescribe medicine randomly, treating a minor illness as if it were a major one!"

Chen Mo hadn't expected his wife to be so thoughtful.

Indeed, 5,000 dollars was almost over 30,000 Chinese Yuan.

Spending 30,000 on a cold was indeed a bit like using a cannon to kill a mosquito.

"Sam, what's wrong with you today? Why do I feel like you've become a different person?" Anna suddenly asked.

"This... of course not, I am just me," Chen Mo explained.

"I know Peter and Alice are not your biological children, but you can't hate them just because they've done some malicious things to you."

"They are children, and you are an adult; you should learn to be tolerant."

No, Chen Mo was speechless.

Are all young women in second marriages like this, liking to make unreasonable trouble?

When have I ever been bad to the children?

"And... you used to be very proactive, even impatient when we were in the kitchen."

"But today, you've been avoiding me time and time again." Anna's voice grew quieter.

Chen Mo's mouth twitched.

Whoa!

As expected, it turns out it was still an issue of not being satisfied.

A beautiful and charming young woman actively seduces you, but you bring out a shield and desperately fend off the enemy's offensive.

It would indeed make a woman develop some strange thoughts.

Are you tired of me? Do you not love me anymore?

Have I gotten old or ugly?

"Anna, I..." Chen Mo wanted to grab Anna's hand.

However, she dodged it.

"Tonight, Peter and Alice will sleep with me; you go sleep on the sofa."

After saying this, Anna picked up Alice and headed to the bedroom.

Before Peter left, he gave Chen Mo a glance, looking slightly apologetic.

He shook his head helplessly.

Chen Mo cursed inwardly: "What a damn psycho."

The living room quickly quieted down. Chen Mo lit a cigarette and took a deep drag.

"Phew... that's fine too. Anyway, I've already set traps in the bedroom. If the supernatural entity comes, I can arrive in time."

Sleeping alone on the sofa in the living room also gave Chen Mo more room to maneuver.

At least if he fought a ghost here, he wouldn't be discovered by his family.

Extinguishing the cigarette butt, Chen Mo glanced at the time; it was now 3:00 AM.

[Every night, you are awakened by an inexplicable force. You look down to check the time, and the time the supernatural event occurs is always: "3:15 AM"]

Chen Mo was also curious: what terrifying thing would happen in 15 minutes?

Letting his body sink into the soft sofa, Chen Mo was originally very awake.

However, a strange fragrance suddenly flooded his nostrils.

It made one involuntarily imagine a scene of a "Lavender Garden" in their mind.

It felt as if Chen Mo's head was being held by an invisible person, forcibly pressing him down onto the sofa.

A massive wave of exhaustion surged up.

Soon, he couldn't keep his eyes open anymore.
