100: Chapter 100 A Tragedy Caused by a Cigarette
The three silly dogs sat on their chairs, sulking.
Just then, they watched as Shen Weiyue unpacked a brand-new set of bedding and skillfully spread it out on the balcony.
"Shen Weiyue, what are you doing spreading it out there?"
"It's better to let new bedding soak up some sun. It collects the scent of sunshine and helps disinfect and deodorize it."
Xie Dongming, having no idea there was such a trick to it, ran over and touched it. The texture was so soft that, in a fit of pique, he turned around, ripped off his own neatly spread bedding, and threw it on the floor.
"I'm so pissed! I'm so pissed!"
Zhang Chengbin came over, touched it, and without a word, followed suit.
The two of them cursed as they threw their bedding on the floor and stomped all over it. Shen Weiyue watched, dumbfounded, unable to stop them in time.
After the two silly dogs finished their tantrum, they both looked at Qi Hui simultaneously.
"Why are you looking at me? Just make do with it. You can't just throw it away, can you? Waste is shameful," Qi Hui said, spreading his hands.
They couldn't argue with that dog of a senior student. So frustrating!
Shen Weiyue finished hanging the quilt, walked into the dorm, reached down to squeeze the bedding on the floor, and then sniffed it carefully. "No weird smells, and the texture is still soft. It's not a big deal."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean it's still usable. It would be a pity to throw it away."
"Damn it, why didn't you say so earlier!"
Xie Dongming lunged over to pick up his quilt, hoping to salvage it, but seeing the mess of footprints and dirt, he felt like crying.
Zhang Chengbin also had a mournful look on his face. Seeing that the quilt couldn't be saved, he got angry and stomped on it a few more times.
"Hahaha, you two are killing me."
Qi Hui laughed until tears came out. Fortunately, he hadn't been that impulsive.
The two glared at him.
After the commotion, Xie Dongming and Zhang Chengbin went downstairs with dark expressions to throw away their bedding and went to buy new ones.
Only Shen Weiyue and Qi Hui remained in the dorm, so Qi Hui struck up a conversation.
"Shen Weiyue, how old are you this year?"
"Nineteen."
"Oh, I'm nineteen too. What month were you born?"
"June."
"Oh, then I'm a month younger than you. I'm born in July."
"Is that so? Youngster, call me Brother Yue."
"..."
Seeing the constipated look on his face, Shen Weiyue smiled and pulled a pack of Liqun cigarettes from his pocket. "Let your soul go on a journey. Want one?"
"No, no, I don't know how to smoke."
Qi Hui's eyes widened, and he waved his hands in refusal, a genuine physiological aversion.
Damn, what kind of good student smokes?
Shen Weiyue's movements in offering the cigarette and putting it to his lips were so smooth; he probably couldn't have done that without three or five years of smoking experience.
How could a student like this get into Jianghai University?
My god, I haven't encountered a super genius, a real top student, have I?
Shen Weiyue didn't say much. He consciously walked out to the balcony, closed the glass door, and leaned against the railing, puffing away, ensuring no secondhand smoke drifted inside.
Seeing his look of enjoyment, Qi Hui's heart started itching again. He wondered, is smoking really that good?
He couldn't help but think of his father's expression when he smoked when he was a kid—he also had that damn satisfied look.
Because of curiosity as a child, Qi Hui had stolen his father's cigarettes, but just as he lit one behind the house, his father caught him.
He was strung up alive, and the belt broke that night.
His father scolded him for not learning anything good and only learning bad habits, threatening to break his legs if he smoked again. Since then, Qi Hui had steered clear of cigarettes.
But in reality, he was still curious.
Later, during a busy summer farming season, Qi Hui passed by a ridge and found the neighbor's pipe on the ground. Out of curiosity, he picked it up and took a puff.
The next second, the world spun. After walking two steps, he fell dizzy into the rice paddy.
The old man pulled him out of the mud, laughing his head off.
Since then, Qi Hui had given up all thoughts of smoking.
But at this moment, seeing Shen Weiyue leaning against the railing, gazing into the distance, puffing away with a melancholic and profound aura, he looked incredibly cool.
"Let your soul go on a journey," Qi Hui finally couldn't resist anymore.
Anyway, his violent father wasn't here, and he was all grown up—the emperor was far away.
Qi Hui pushed open the glass door and found an excuse. "Shen Weiyue, what does smoking actually taste like?"
"The taste of loneliness," Shen Weiyue said without turning his head. "What an adult man smokes isn't a cigarette, it's the loneliness of life."
Holy crap.
That's the flavor. That's the feeling!
A wave of pretentious "daddy" energy.
Qi Hui's eyes lit up. He felt a strong wave of "coolness" coming at him. He couldn't help but take a deep breath, rubbed his hands, and said, "Give me one to try."
"Smoking is harmful to health."
"I won't live to be a hundred even if I don't smoke."
Very good. That was a smooth line.
Shen Weiyue glanced at him and tossed over a Liqun.
"Cough, cough, cough…" Qi Hui took a fierce drag and choked, his face turning red.
"It's not supposed to be done like that, you idiot. For a beginner, take shallow puffs and exhale slowly. Control the intake; don't inhale it into your lungs…"
Shen Weiyue couldn't stand watching anymore and started coaching him.
Thus, a model student followed Director Shen onto the crooked path.
He was too professional at corrupting good students.
...
Under the setting sun of early autumn, Qi Hui had a cigarette in his mouth, leaning against the balcony with one hand in his pocket, looking up at the sky at a forty-five-degree angle.
What the hell is this guy doing?
The first thing Xie Dongming and Zhang Chengbin saw when they returned to the dorm was this ridiculous scene. The two looked at each other.
"Qi Hui, what are you doing? You're actually smoking!"
"Am I smoking a cigarette? I'm smoking loneliness." Qi Hui looked at them with contempt, then turned his head back. If you're going to act cool, you have to use it immediately.
The next second.
"Hey, hey, what are you doing? Put your phones down…"
"Damn it, if you're going to smoke, close the glass door! The whole dorm smells like it. I've already taken evidence, and I'm reporting you immediately!"
"Damn, Brother Ming, Brother Bin, please have mercy."
Qi Hui stubbed out the cigarette and lunged over to beg for mercy, while secretly thinking, *I clearly closed the door. Who the hell opened it?*
The culprit, Shen Weiyue, smiled slightly at him.
That's right, it was me.
Let this little newbie experience the harshness of society. You asked me for a cigarette and wouldn't even call me Brother Yue.
"Damn, Shen Weiyue, you set me up?"
Tsk tsk, the iron-willed hero of Yanzhao, acting tough after having his fun.
"Listen to me, it was Shen Weiyue who started smoking and seduced me."
The son of a bitch, he's even got a rebellious streak!
"Comrade Dongming, Comrade Chengfeng, I agree with your assessment. This uncivilized behavior by Qi Hui must be reported. I suggest handing the evidence over to the Counselor for disciplinary action and resolutely cracking down on it!"
Shen Weiyue's gaze was low. The moment he stood up, his aura startled the three silly dogs.
Damn, did a Director sneak into our dorm?
"Shen Weiyue…" Qi Hui said with a mournful face, quickly backing down.
"Hmm? What did you call me?" Shen Weiyue raised an eyebrow.
"Brother Yue, Brother Yue, you can't do this, please let me off…"
"He's grown up. Little Hui has grown up!"
The four of them, who had just met from all corners of the country, quickly grew closer because of a cigarette.
While other dorms were still politely probing each other, this one had already achieved great unity.
After the first democratic discussion in Dorm 404, the four lords reached a consensus.
The tallest guy from Hebei, the hero of Yanzhao—Qi Hui—happily received the title of 'Little Hui'.
The other three were Little Hui's big brothers.
Shen Weiyue, who looked elegant and handsome but was actually sinister and dark-hearted, was Brother Yue.
Zhang Chengbin, who loved to put on airs on the surface but recorded videos and stabbed people in the back, was Brother Bin.
Even the chubby white guy with the most deceptive, innocent face, Xie Dongming, became Brother Ming.
Brother Yue looked at the depressed Little Hui and chuckled, "Give it up, Ah Hui. Everyone in this dorm is your big brother!"
