99: Chapter 99 A Blitzkrieg Attack on a Senior Right After the Start of the Semester
Registration didn't take long.
After Shen Weiyue finished the registration procedures, a senior with a messy, bird's-nest hairstyle led him to the male dormitory.
The senior wasn't exactly warm toward him—likely because Shen Weiyue had just declined his enthusiastic recommendation for bedding—so the asshole senior left as soon as he dropped him off downstairs.
Carry it upstairs? Not happening. An ignorant junior wasn't worth his time.
Orientation season equals money-making season.
The sensible seniors were already earning money for their girlfriends' return from summer break.
Shen Weiyue felt nothing toward this behavior from the asshole senior. Only an idiot would buy refurbished cotton without labels. Since he had been reborn, could he really fall into the same trap again?
In his past life, he had been scammed by asshole seniors at school.
Damn it, they could even bring themselves to prey on such poor students; they were all beasts who deserved to have sons without dicks.
When dealing with people, it's better to be on guard.
Shen Weiyue carried his suitcase upstairs. His room number was Dorm 404, which, for a computer science student, wasn't exactly an auspicious number.
Reaching the fourth floor, he saw a row of dormitory doors wide open in the hallway.
The "noobs" newly initiated into the sect couldn't hide their excitement, getting to know each other and chatting with burning enthusiasm. There were even many parents who couldn't let go, following them upstairs to help make beds and fold quilts.
Though, it was understandable. Forget about children having a hard time weaning off milk; many adults never really wean off their parents their whole lives.
Men are just like that.
Shen Weiyue found Dorm 404. The door was also wide open; someone had gotten there first.
As soon as he stepped one foot into the room, three pairs of eyes snapped toward him.
A tall, thin guy with glasses, a guy with a middle-part hairstyle and arms crossed, and a fair-skinned, chubby guy with a youthful face.
Three pairs of eyes were bright and alert; this combination was interesting.
The male dorms at Jianghai University were the type with desks underneath and beds on top. At this moment, three beds in the room had already been made, leaving the one by the window empty.
These three roommates were quite considerate; they hadn't switched the name tags on the bed frames, leaving the prime spot by the window for him.
Shen Weiyue was satisfied; he liked the spot by the window.
"Buddy, you're Shen Weiyue, right? I felt like the name had a lot of class just looking at it, and seeing you in person, you really are refined. With you here, our dorm's average handsomeness is going to go up another level."
The guy with glasses spoke standard Mandarin with a heavy Northern accent.
Shen Weiyue knew the people who arrived earlier had already identified him via the name tags on the beds, so he wasn't surprised that he knew his name.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Qi Hui, from Hebei, the land of heroes," the guy with glasses said with a generous smile.
"Shen Weiyue, from Sichuan Province. I'll be counting on Brother Hero to help me look cool from now on. Please take care of me," Shen Weiyue replied with a smile.
With Qi Hui taking the lead, the other two jerks came over to chat as well.
"Zhang Chengbin, from Guangdong Province." The guy with the middle-part dressed like a rich kid, acting a bit aloof and trying hard to play it cool, but his thick accent still made Shen Weiyue feel a sense of familiarity.
Damn, he still couldn't forget his days in Shenzhen. Could this "Kun" call him a "handsome guy"?
The fair-skinned chubby guy was wearing the latest Nike sneakers and smiled, revealing a mouthful of white teeth: "Xie Dongming, local."
This was the first meeting of the people in Dorm 404.
Shen Weiyue knew their current behavior might not reflect their true personalities, but having read countless people, he still formed a rough first impression of his three roommates.
Although the Hebei guy, Qi Hui, dressed plainly, his personality was cheerful. He dared to call himself handsome despite having a square face; just based on this confidence, one could tell he had a stable core.
This guy was definitely a true top student who had fought his way out of "hell mode."
The Guangdong guy, Zhang Chengbin, had fashionable clothes and a trendy hairstyle, looking like a wealthy trendsetter, but his personality was a bit stiff; he was likely the type who needed a push to open up.
And the local Zhejiang guy, Xie Dongming, looked a bit childish because of his fair skin and chubby face. Combined with his single eyelids and small eyes, he looked quite comical—he was probably a "nimble fat guy."
This fair-skinned chubby guy likely came from a very good family.
Very good, the three roommates were high-spirited and had personality!
The next four years would surely be interesting.
While Shen Weiyue was evaluating his roommates, they were also evaluating him in their hearts.
Qi Hui thought happily: "Good guy, a melancholic little prince and a calm, handsome man has mixed in. Since we're in the same dorm, him being handsome means our dorm is handsome, which basically means I'm handsome. Now I have a wingman for picking up girls. Nice, nice."
Zhang Chengbin frowned: "Damn it, this Shen Weiyue has a sense of composure that carries an aura only those in the 'art of posturing' can sense. This bastard must be a poser, and he's only a little less handsome than me. My position as the handsome one in the dorm is being challenged."
Xie Dongming narrowed his small eyes: "Oh boy, this Shen guy is actually kinda handsome. It's gonna be high pressure walking around with him. I'll have to play to my strengths and avoid my weaknesses later, and find a chance to ask him to play basketball and crush him..."
The four of them each had their own thoughts, and the room suddenly fell silent.
After a while, they all seemed to feel the atmosphere was off, so they simultaneously looked at each other and shared an awkward but polite smile.
Seeing that Shen Weiyue only brought one suitcase and had no intention of making his bed, Qi Hui asked: "Shen Weiyue, where's your bedding? Are you planning to sleep on the wooden board tonight?"
"Sleep on the board? No way. I'm going outside the school to buy a quilt core and mattress in a bit; I just haven't had the time yet," Shen Weiyue replied.
Hearing this, Xie Dongming asked curiously: "Didn't the seniors recommend bedding when we registered? We all bought it there. You actually didn't buy any?"
"I looked at theirs, but there were no product labels, so I wasn't really comfortable with it. I didn't buy it," Shen Weiyue shook his head.
"What?"
The three noobs who had just stepped out of their ivory towers changed expressions and hurriedly went to check their bedding.
"Fuck, there really are no labels!"
"Screw his mother, there really aren't any! We got scammed."
"Oh boy, we got conned, that 62..."
The silly roommates looked at each other. Qi Hui was so angry that without a word, he slammed the table and said he was going to return the items.
"Let's go, let's go find them and return this!"
"I'll go with you. Zhang Chengbin, you coming?"
"Together."
The three of them left indignantly, asking Shen Weiyue to guard the base.
Would Director Shen be that obedient?
Guard the base? Guard my ass.
He smiled without a word, found his key, locked the door behind him, and headed straight to the shopping mall outside the school to buy daily necessities.
By the time he returned, the three silly roommates were cursing in the dorm; it was clear that this "first lesson of the semester" had really gotten to them.
"Brother Hero, how did it go?"
"Fuck his mother! That dog-thing said we couldn't return them because the packaging was opened, and said we had no proof the product was substandard. There were people nearby backing him up, saying it was a voluntary transaction and they were honest dealers."
"So what do you guys think?"
"They had more people; we couldn't win the argument. Damn it, let's just take it as a loss. A loss is a blessing."
"Yes, yes, yes, a loss is a blessing."
As long as you can accept taking losses, you'll have endless losses in the future.
But they lacked social experience; that's how it is. This was something they had to endure at their age.
Shen Weiyue smiled without a word and began to make his own bed.
