33: Chapter 33 You can actually cook?

The next day.

Under the strict supervision of Zhao Qingyan, Shen Weiyue turned into an untiring study machine, feeling as if his brains were about to boil over.

However, his math grades were visibly improving, and he was surprisingly able to grasp the key points explained by Han Changming more and more thoroughly.

This discovery left him ecstatic, and he put even more effort into squeezing out his potential, as if trying to dig up the solid foundation he had at the start of the school year from the fault lines buried by time.

Both the Old Demon and the Fox felt deeply gratified, so during the nap, the School Beauty pretended to fan him inadvertently, letting Director Shen have a good sleep.

The afternoon English class was even more interesting.

Liang Yuting walked into the classroom gracefully; as soon as she arrived, their eyes met. He smiled, and she glared at him without a trace.

Standing on the podium to start the lesson, Shen Weiyue was still listening attentively, but Liang Muzi always felt that his focus was off.

Of course, this was an illusion.

Director Shen dared to swear on her conscience that he really wasn't thinking about the story of the wisteria blooming; he was truly studying hard.

The wind does not move, the banner does not move; it is only the person's heart that moves.

"Eh, Teacher Liang is so strange today. She actually finished class on time and left in such a hurry as soon as it ended..."

Ning Xi said, puzzled.

Zhao Qingyan rarely nodded in agreement.

Holding his draft paper, Shen Weiyue watched this scene, feeling lost and helpless, thinking to himself that it seemed he wouldn't be able to ask that grammar question today.

It was approaching noon.

Ye Lingtao ran over resentfully and said, "Master Shen, you haven't had lunch with me for several days. Do you want to go outside the school to grab some fries today?"

"Are you treating me to KFC?" The handsome guy was ecstatic.

"No money. At most, I can only treat you to a pack of fries." Ye Lingtao hurriedly waved his hands. This half-grown kid would eat him out of house and home.

Shen Weiyue shook his head and refused, putting away his smile: "If I don't eat meat, my mouth will become bland as a bird. I'd better just eat in the cafeteria."

"Fine, I'll treat you to meat, I..."

Ye Lingtao was about to continue his persuasion, but was caught off guard by a cold look from Zhao Qingyan's eyes. The next second, he changed his tune: "Treat you to my foot. You're being picky; you deserve to drink the northwest wind. You just go to the cafeteria; I'll go outside by myself."

After saying that, he left the classroom without looking back.

"Damn, is this the sincerity of someone inviting me to dinner?" Shen Weiyue was baffled.

"Hurry up, eat lunch and continue studying!" Zhao Qingyan found it funny inside, but kept her expression calm and scolded him coldly.

Shen the Donkey stood up helplessly, head drooping, and was driven to the school cafeteria by Zhao the Fox, who was brandishing a whip.

Fortunately, the food from the Fox's special kitchen was quite good, which could soothe the tired soul of the donkey.

This time, Shen Weiyue picked food directly from Zhao Qingyan's plate. No matter how Zhao Qingyan glared at him, or even stepped hard on his toes under the table, he ignored her, as if he wanted to vent his anger on the food from the special kitchen.

"Shen Weiyue, you are becoming more and more arrogant!"

"I feel like I'm going to be worked to death by you. Only when I'm eating do I feel like I'm still alive. I'm like this anyway, so scold me if you want."

When the donkey closes its eyes and puts its head down to pull the millstone, ignoring any outside interference, even the smartest fox can't do anything about it.

Facing the surprised and complex gazes of others in the cafeteria, even Zhao Qingyan's calm state of mind couldn't hold up, especially since this guy Shen Weiyue was still picking and choosing from her tray, acting surprisingly skilled at it.

This donkey no longer cared about any gossip.

Fine, if he doesn't care, I don't care either.

No one else has the right to criticize what I, Zhao Qingyan, do.

She thought to herself, too lazy to care anymore.

So, when the donkey patted its belly in satisfaction and finished cleaning up, the fox had only eaten a few bites of cat food; this was outrageous.

Shen Weiyue turned his chopsticks around and placed a piece of spicy chicken into Zhao Qingyan's bowl, reminding her: "Eat some chicken; don't get thin and then say it's my fault later."

Zhao Qingyan's face finally turned completely red.

Such intimacy was way over the line.

The donkey needs to go to the millstone!

...

After the afternoon classes ended, everyone cheered and rushed out of the classroom, ready to enjoy this rare break time.

"Master Shen, want to go play billiards?" Ye Lingtao called out.

"Can't go, I'm busy. Play with yourself." Shen Weiyue sighed and headed straight back to the rented apartment.

He opened his phone and sent a message: "Teacher Liang, can you really not let me off even on Saturday night?"

"No! If I don't see you at six, get ready to write a self-criticism." Liang Yuting replied decisively and bluntly.

"Then I'll go eat first and then head over."

"Come directly. If you don't study well, you don't get to eat. You're always so lackadaisical; will you die if you miss a meal?"

Shen Weiyue sighed and walked upstairs heavily.

After knocking for three seconds, the door opened.

Liang Yuting was wearing an apron, her hair tied in a bun, holding a spatula in her hand.

"Oh? Teacher Liang, are you cooking?"

"Yes."

Shen Weiyue protested loudly: "That's too much. You know to cook for yourself first, but you don't let me eat before coming here. I'm still growing; I'm hungry..."

"Stop pretending. Can't you tell I was going to invite you to eat together?" Liang Yuting rolled her eyes and turned back into the kitchen, and Shen Weiyue followed, poking his head in.

"What are you making? Twice-cooked pork? Hand-torn cabbage... Eh, there's fish too?"

"Yes, I heard you were turned from a pig, super capable of eating, and licked Zhao Qingyan's plate clean."

"Which bastard is bad-mouthing me behind my back?"

"It's spreading all over the school. Zhao Qingyan is the School Beauty, after all, and every move she makes gets a lot of attention. You guy are something else, openly picking food from her bowl..."

Liang Yuting looked at him meaningfully. Shen Weiyue met her gaze calmly and shook his head, saying: "If she can't finish it, it's a waste to throw it away. I'm reluctantly helping her save food, what's wrong with that? You don't think there's something between her and me, do you?"

"It's not just what I think; it's what any normal person would think. The rainy season of eighteen, youth is just right, so... is there something?"

"There really isn't!" Shen Weiyue's eyes twinkled with a smile. "You guys shouldn't be so dramatic. Sometimes things between men and women aren't that complicated; there can also be pure friendship."

"I would have believed it before, but do you think I believe it now?" Liang Yuting scoffed.

"Aren't we?"

"You... uh, of course we are, we must be!"

"Then why did you say you didn't believe it?"

Liang Yuting gritted her teeth, feeling that if she kept going around in circles, she'd get caught by him again. So she quickly changed the subject and scolded: "Less nonsense, help me cut the fish. What flavor do you like?"

"The scent of wisteria..." Shen Weiyue blurted out.

"???" Liang Yuting froze for half a second, then flew into a rage: "I'm talking about the fish!"

Shen Weiyue gave a dry laugh, not daring to spout any more nonsense, and asked curiously: "Can you make any flavor?"

"For example?"

"Rattan pepper fish."

"Can't."

"Boiled fish fillets in hot chili oil?"

"Uh... can't do that either." Liang Muzi said awkwardly, "I only know how to braise, steam, and deep-fry..."

Shen Weiyue was speechless. He thought she was a king, but it turned out she was just a bronze.

"Then I'll do it; consider it returning the favor." Without another word, he picked up the kitchen knife and started cutting from the fish tail.

Liang Yuting widened her eyes, watching him skillfully slice the fish meat on one side horizontally to the gills, then cut the whole piece off.

Then he flipped it over to cut the other side, subsequently slicing it into fish fillets of uniform thickness, chopped the fish bones neatly, and split the fish head into two halves.

"Where are the cooking wine and starch? Get some scallions and ginger too, to remove the fishy smell."

"No way, Shen Weiyue, you actually know how to cook fish?" Liang Yuting opened her mouth wide, staring at his movements in astonishment, and pointed dumbly at the seasoning rack.

Shen Weiyue pushed her aside with his elbow and said calmly while searching: "Is this strange? I can even cook duck!"
